It's not whether or not the entire game is placed solely on Earth. It's whether or not the entire game is ALL ABOUT Earth.
The entire series has built up the Reapers to be a galatic threat to all species, not a planetary threat to one species. If Bioware decides to make ME3 similar to DA:O, recruiting armies for ONE place, ONE battle, they would fail in fulfilling the story they have built up these past few years.

Yes, the third game is all about Earth because Earth was featured in the teaser. Just like ME2 was all about Legion, since he was featured in the ME2 teaser.

What? It's flawless logic!

Then why is their stupid slogan "The fight for earth begins"?Image IPB

ME2 teaser and pre-release hype made a big deal out of Shepard's MIA status. Some people even went so far as to claim with near certainty that it meant we would not be playing as Shepard in ME2. Well, we saw how wrong they were, and of how little importance Shepard's "death" was to the overall plot of the sequel.

I'm really not surprised that people have apparently learned nothing from that though, and are railing on and on about how ME3 will take place solely on Earth, or will be overwhelmingly focused on Earth.

Rational individuals in the meanwhile realize there's not nearly enough information about ME3 to be reaching such conclusions.

I'd also point out that the marketing hype for DA2 said you'd play the most important person in the world, a claim which David Gaider himself scoffed at and subsequently downplayed. Marketing and the actual writers are two completely different groups and they don't always communicate with perfect clarity.

Why would any other species besides humans want to fight for Earth?

If a planet other then your home planet was under attack and you knew that as soon as the aggressors were done they would mover on to another planet, quite possibly your own, wouldn't  you want to keep the fighting off your own planet's? So the question is why wouldn't they help?

I dont actualy think that the entire game will be based on Earth.....

Just most of it (read the description again)

& Bioware is all about the money now as evidenced by Mass Effect 2

& games based on Earth make money!

If i am talking to a bunch of people who were turned on to the series by the second game then

i am wasting my time.....

If you liked Mass Effect 2 more than ME1 than you do not understand the series

or at least what it should have been before EA took over & Bioware made themselves a stupid

turd person shooter & ruined the series...

ME1 is just a good a game as ME2. I sick of this "YOU DON"T KNOW BETTER".

Well, Vigil did state that the Reapers (upon arriving) went through and wiped out areas planet by planet. The fact that Shepard:

a) Destroyed S... oh dammit I can't spoil anything here ¬_¬

Right well what I can say is that Shepard foiled the Reapers plans (in both games) & even a 'certain Reaperish character' states that 'Humanity has gained the attention' of the Reapers. Hence why it would make sense for the Reapers to attack Earth. I mean, we all knew it was going to happen during the end sequence of ME2.

Humanity saved the galaxy at the battle of the citadel. It's time for the galaxy to return the favour.

I can't believe how both hilarious and depressing your posts manage to be...

Almost every post of yours is somehow connected to your opinion that ME1 is the superior game of the two and everybody who begs to differ "doesn't understand the series". Now there's nothing wrong with liking ME1 more than ME2 but when you start insulting people who have different opinions and placing yourself and your opinions above theirs it completely takes away all your credibility.

You are complaining how people attack you by stating their thoughts that are different from yours but the only one in this thread who is attacking is you. You should really take a look in the mirror.

We've seen a SINGLE TRAILER that had absolutely ZERO gameplay footage. I highly doubt the whole game takes place on Earth. Killing those reapers hovering in the skies over London is probably one of the major turning points in the game, however, like Virmire in ME1 or Horizon in ME2.

Too bad that "Original Post" -arrow is pointing at wrong direction.

But on the subject...

Personally I share the same view as pretty much everybody else on this thread that Earth has a role in ME3 but it's not a major one. Most of the game is probably spent recruiting an army against Reaper invasion but it's hard to say anything based on one teaser trailer.

I thought its obvious why they decided to set the whole game on Earth... I mean there really is only 2 reasons:

1. Bioware hates us

2. Bioware wants to appeal more to the Modern Warfare/Gears of War crowd

I mean, it certainly must be one or the other. Or maybe, just maybe, the OP is over-reacting to a very short teaser trailer, meant to peak interest, generate debate and attract new potential players, all while giving us confirmation that ME3 is official and that The Reapers are BACK.

I don't see the point you're trying to make...just because Earth is shown in the teaser that means that the entire game is going to be based off of it?

For the record, ME1 was already a third-person shooter.

I think OP is overreacting... Shepard will probably still have to travel the galaxy to secure allies.

I would be very disappointed if throughout ME3 the Reapers only attacked Earth and failed at doing what they're supposed to be doing....It would be a waste for it to just be in Earth when the Reapers would most likely try attacking other planets where Shepard will be needed for.

Well i unserstand your point man but i am judging the trailer based on Biowares current track record
of making money instead of art.....

I considered that exact same thing man...
Although i was worried that it would become just another run around & recruit game...
I mean wouldnt that suck?
Yes it would be cool as a stand alone game but this is Mass Effect!
You are supossed to connect the games smoothly...
& in my opinion sitting there playing all three games in a row would be pretty lame
due to the fact that it may end up being three games that revolve around recruitment missions.

I know that man, just a bit worried & thought some others would be also....
& they clearly have very strong hopes & fears on the subject...
