Honestly, this is getting ridicules with all the DLC that is coming out a month prior to the release date.

I know someones going to say "you don't NEED it" But they just keep pouring the DLC on. There is a point where you can see that EA is simply money grubbing, and we have clearly passed that point.

A publisher trying get money?! Get out of here, No really Leave.

But it is true, you seriously don't need it - how is this armor even related to DA2 universe? You can get all the DLC so far by having preordered from EA Store before the signature deal ended and that's it. rest of it was free for grabs with hindsight and parthalen.

It seriously is just a bunch of whining nothing else.

Not to mention Dead Space was a great game and I have no doubts from demo that Dead Space 2 will be just as awesome, so it really isn't bad at all.

Again, seriously some people...

There is a big difference between a company offering an item/service for a fair price and just plain money grubbing. If you can't tell the difference then I'm sorry.

How is it not fair? You get a great game with free DLC for another great game on top of it for the price of every new game release?

Please explain how it isn't fair again?

I'm offended the dragon age 2 forum is side by side the mass effect forum.

That makes about as much logic as those complaining about an extra optional armor in DA2.

Uh... They want you to buy one of their games.

Publishers want you to buy their games, and they're giving you an incentive to do so. They're not charging £30/40 for the armour, they're charging £30/40 for the game regardless of this promotion, and it gives incentive to those who wouldn't normally try it to pick it up and give it a go.

Yes, there's a difference between offering an item/service for a fair price and plain being greedy, but this isn't the latter - If you can't tell that, then I'm sorry.

Shame on you Bioware, this is a disgusting use of marketing. There are fans of yours that dont like dead space (or name your EA game here) and by pulling this crap you hurt YOUR fans, who now either miss out on dragon age content or cough up full retail for something they may not be interested in - just to get the 'full' dragon age experiance. You guys should feel embarrased.

They should feel embarrassed for trying to expand their market?!!  Give me a break.  Believe it or not, they're not doing this to victimize the OCD's who can't stop themselves from spending $60 just to get a suit of armor.  They're doing this to pitch Dragon Age with every copy of DS2.  Even if a space horror player isn't interested in a fantasy ARPG, he/she may know someone else who might be.  They'll see the card, pass it along and say, "Hey, do you play this already?  It might be cool."

And for people who find themselves grinding teeth and sweating about blowing $60 vs missing a suit of DS2 DA2 armor - I have three words for you: cognitive-behavioral therapy.  That's just not healthy, and I'm being serious when I say that.

Me?  As someone with pre-orders on both titles, I'm happy for the unexpected perk.  So...thanks Bioware / EA!

Im just not keen on the principle of what this is. I personally wouldnt go out of my way to get this suit. Its just the more this becomes the norm, whos to say it might get to the point where its not just a gimpy piece of armor - it could be something more (well, actually) substantial. Where is the line? Like i said, its just the principle im not into. I get that its a company and marketing and all that. I just dont like it - your entitled to defend it, and im entitled to whine about it.

Doom and gloom before it actually happens, pretty counter-productive and the likes of people I would never speak to in real life, sorry but it's true.

I would not nearly be as upset as I am now if dead space was a bioware franchise. If that were the case, it would appear as if bioware is trying to get support for another one of their games. But it's not, EA who is suppose to have ZERO input on the game, is using it to advertise their other games. EA are not the ones making this game, it's Bioware, EA should not have a say in what's going where in terms of the game. They should be marketting it and that's it, they should not be using one developers game to market another.

You know, since I primarily buy EA games I'm starting to wonder if by the time DA2 comes out I'll have a whole arsenal of superweapons available from the start due to all these DLC. Sounds kinda awesome. But at the same time somewhat unreliable. I'd rather pay more for the game and get everything on one disk then buying all the small DLC.

Still, free stuff is free.

Lots of shoulds in there. Where is this book that talks about ethics of marketing in the game industry? If you don't like  it,  just don't buy dragon age 2. Its really that simple. Its EA promoting their games there is nothing wrong with that, they are a business and thus their goal is to make money.

But they ARE marketing it... The door swings both ways, you know? I bet plenty of those who get DS2 will open the box and think "oh, what's this? Dragon Age 2?" - and some of them will look up some info or a trailer about DA, and buy it. They are advertising their RPG to fans of another genre. And evidently they are advertising DS2 to us. What's wrong with that? It's no companion, it's not a single split second of additional gameplay, you miss nothing besides a rather ugly (or not, who knows, some might like it) armor. Tell me something that is even more superfluos then this?

How high exactly does your cunning/dexterity have to be to wear the armor? And do you always have to wear the helm?

No answer besides this? No hint at what might be even more superfluos? No clue how marketing works? Fine, rant away!

Uh... BioWare and Visceral are EA studios. EA are the publisher of BioWare and Visceral's games and they own the studios, ergo they have total control over the games. EA can be fairly relaxed and hands-off, yes, but at the end of the day Dragon Age 2 and Dead Space 2 are both published and developed by EA. This promotion, as Merci said above, works both ways. Dragon Age 2 is advertised to Dead Space 2 players, and Dead Space 2 is advertised to DA2 players.

Do you sit in the cinema and start shouting at the screen when the trailers play? Do you shout at people who write because they're saying someone else's book is good and you should read it? Do you hate your local supermarket because they're advertising the competing brand of... I dunno, shampoo? No, you don't.

Seriously. Your high horse? You need to get off it and smell the roses. EA aren't your friends, they're not going to bend over backwards to please you. They'll do what they want with their products, and if that includes cross-promoting two of them, then so be it. It's their right to do so. If you want to sulk over it, then feel free - But don't expect sympathy, and don't expect EA to change this for you.

I can't be bothered to read your wall of text with pesudo-intellectual statements but I will pick out this one. "Do you sit in the cinema and start shouting at the screen when the trailers play?" No, because the trailers tend to be played before the movie even starts, if said trailers appeared DURING the movie, I would be pretty pissed. And that is just what's happening now. Pick your analogies better.

I'm on no high horse, I was perfectly fine with this cluster **** of DLC. until they started using one developers game to advertise another. Also enjoy just eating up whatever **** pie falls from them without question. You are the gamers of today!

You do realise I'm not buying either game, right?

And again, how dare they drum up sales for another game. It's the most horrible thing to ever happen since... Uh... Bobby Kotick was born.

Both developers are owned by EA and are technically the same company, Just different development teams. So cross promotion is allowed. It's not like they threw DLC on some random developers game under a different label.

Yep, I'm the gamer of today! Just for the record, I have no intention to buy Dead Space 2, at all. What for? I don't need this armor, it doesn't enhance my gameplay in any shape or form. But I don't feel entitled to it, either.

Awesome. I'm getting Dead Space 2 anyway (in a week!), so more goodies for me. :D
