Wrong.

Nobody ties them down and forces them to agree to make DLC to co-promote with another big game release. It's a simple marketing concept  with two popular releases to help co-promote them. If it helps boost sales accross the board then all the better. Bioware gets to promote Dragon Age 2's future release in Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 2 might attact gamers who have yet to look into the games. Everyone gets more people checking the games out that would not have normally looked at them. All is good.

That implies that Bioware has something that it doesn't,the ability to decide if they want to do a cross promotion with Dead Space 2. They are owned by EA just as Visceral Studios is and as such do take orders from EA. If EA told them to make something that would promote Dead Space 2 to fans of Dragon Age(or Bioware fans if you want to generalize it),then I believe the most they can do is decide how to do it.
In this case they decided to make a armor that you can unlock by getting DS2 new. It works for them in my case as  it encouraged me to check out the DS2 demo, find info on the game(I like the fact that it has NG+) and reserve it at Gamestop(want the pre-order bonus and that where I get all my games). Would I have done that if I hadn't known about the Armor promotion,no. I would have likely ended up buying it used along with the first one during one of Gamestop's buy 2 used games and get 1 free promotion in the Summer.
So now I will be play a game that strangely feels like a weird love child of the Mass effect and Resident Evil series and be able to enjoy having the armor when DA2 is released.

Well it is clear that the distribution works differently for PS3. I just wish that Bioware would stop dancing around it and tell us how exactly the PS3 distribution works.

There's also some confusion with the Black Emporium that I just noticed in the fine print on the main site:

OFFER EXPIRES 3/8/2011. CODE EXPIRES DATE 3/31/2012. GOOD ONLY FOR EXISTING PRE-ORDERS AND FOR NEW PURCHASES OF DRAGON AGE II FOR THE PC or XBOX 360 (the "PRODUCT"). Pre-order offer is available to all PS3 players when they purchase and login to the game with a valid EA account prior to May 31, 2011. Valid at participating retailers. Customers who order online will be sent the code via email once the Product releases. Customers who order at a retail store will be given the code WHEN PRODUCT IS PICKED UP. OFFER MAY NOT BE SUBSTITUTED, EXCHANGED, SOLD OR REDEEMED FOR CASH OR OTHER GOODS OR SERVICES. MAY NOT BE COMBINED WITH ANY OTHER OFFER, GIFT CARD, REBATE OR DISCOUNT COUPON. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED, TAXED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. INTERNET CONNECTION AND EA ACCOUNT REQUIRED. YOU MUST BE 13+. EA MAY RETIRE ONLINE FEATURES AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ONWWW.EA.COM/2/SERVICE-UPDATES. PC PRODUCT REQUIRES ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT. ACCESS TO PC ONLINE FEATURES LIMITED TO ONE EA ACCOUNT.

Particularly the bolded part.

Whats confusing? You get a code and you login to your EA accounts. What is so confusing about that?

Except it only states there being a code for Xbox and PC, not for PS3, as far as I can tell.

From what I have read on several Game sites, the PS3 version  of Dead Space 2 comes with the code just like the others do, the Difference is that the code will only unlock the armor for the PS3 version of DA2.
As to what you bolded, that has nothing to do with the black Emporium. As it states, the Pre-order offer(which is the Fadeshear Sword and the Shield of Orlais) is availble to all PS3 players who purchase(which they must assume you bought since I doubt they can tell) and login to the game with a valid EA account prior to May 31,2011.  As it is written, it seems to me that any player who logins to the game on the PS3 with a valid EA  account before May 31 of this year will be able to get the pre-order bonus. it seems that they believe that if you didn't play the game and login(the login might be automatic like I remember Origins doing) after 2 months and 3 weeks of it's release, then the copy your playing wasn't pre-ordered and therefor shouldn't get the bonuses.
The Black Emporium on the other hand will have the code for it in every new copy of the game and I don't know if Bioware even has a expiration date for those codes. it's something that bioware (don't know if other EA games have something similar) does to encourage the sale of new copys and recoup any money lost due to used games sales(since they have to pay for the dlc unless the first person traded the game in with a unused code still inside).

Ouch  how come the PS3 people only get a couple of months to activate the dlc and the pc/360 people get over a year

It is official. The PS3 version of DS2 does not have the code for the armor. =(

Link or doesn't exist because the official site, the official trailer says there is a code for all of them If you don't have proof, you are just trolling.

GTFOH! I work for Gamestop, I don't need to troll. I have opened up a few of all editions of the game and the PS3 editions don't have the code.

It's been stated that the PS3 version of DS2 would come with an insert with detailed instructions on how to get it for the PS3 version of DA-II. So there must be an insert in there somewhere.

There isn't I've looked multiple times.

That's the fine print for Black Emporium+Fadeshear and Lion of Orlais Shield.

This is the fine print for Ser Isaac Armor:

*Playstation 3: Offer expires March 31, 2012. Requires Internet connection, EA account, ownership of or access to Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age II games on the PlayStation 3. EA online Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are available at www.ea.com. Valid everywhere the applicable games are sold. Must be 13+. Offer may not be substituted, exchanged, sold or redeemed for cash or other goods or services. May not be combined with any other offer, gift card, rebate or discount coupon. Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law.

*Xbox 360 & PC: Offer and code expires March 31, 2012. Requires Internet connection, EA account, ownership of or access to Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age II games for the Xbox 360 or PC. EA online Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are available at www.ea.com. Valid everywhere the applicable games are sold. Must be 13+. Code may not be substituted, exchanged, sold or redeemed for cash or other goods or services. May not be combined with any other offer, gift card, rebate or discount coupon. Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law.

As you can see, a great deal of confusion there. It's clear that PS3 distribution is very different from Xbox and PC. I would like to know HOW different. HOW exactly it will work. If a Bioware dev could answer this dilemma that would be awesome.

Well now this makes it all the more imperative that a Bioware dev PLEASE answer this. Tell us how the hell the PS3 distribution works.

If there is no code, then according to the fine print you might have to insert DA2, login to your EA account, select that you want the armor at which point it might ask you to insert DS2 so it can scan the game and then unlocks the armor for download. Either that or login to your EA account on DS2 if it allows that so your account can register that you have the game. Reason being that EA account is included, but they go on and state that you must either own or have Access to both games. Why would they mention access to the game unless you need the game disc?

Of course having a Dev clear this up would be better then any theory we can come up with.

I see EA are cashing in, buy dead space 2 just to get armour for DA 2, will EA's greed never end, thing is Dead space was a top game so I'll be buying Dead space 2 anyway blast EA have got me again.!

I see so many people saying this, but try to think about it - it doesn't make a single bit of sense.

They're not cashing in anything, you're not buying Dead Space 2 for that silly armor in Dragon Age 2, you're buying Dead Space 2 for... wait for it... wait for it... here it comes! DEAD SPACE 2 THE GAME.

You get this armor as a COMPLETELY free bonus.

If you really don't want Dead Space 2 which is likely going to be an awesome critically acclaimed game according to reviews so far, you can go on Ebay and get the armor code for less than 20 bux if you can't control your OCD.

o yeah ebay forgot about that, don't have to be patronizing "wait for it... wait it... here it comes!" quote

If that's true, then you could just rent DS2 for PS3. Which I think would kinda be cheating...

Are they saying that you will find a code in inside your retail copy? or will you unlock it by playing DS2? Confusing, cause i will buy DS2 digital.

Maybe all you have to do is register game  and it then puts it on the promotion page.

Well, ok, I did it. Based on 1) Dragon Age 2 promotion, 2) friends' opinions of Dead Space, and 3) Amazon's good service, I have now preordered Dead Space 2. I hope it is awesome. And the best part is that I could get release day shipping for $0.99 from Amazon, even ordering today(!)

I actually pay for Amazon prime which makes release day shipping free and 2 day shipping also free and if I want anything overnight its 3.99$. So I actually prefer getting all my things from Amazon. Its really well worth it imo.

No one has even gotten a copy of Dead Space 2 for PS3 yet? Why is it games always come out for 360 early but not PS3?
