This is dissappointing, I am a big Dead Space and Dragon Age fan, but because I bought the PS3 version of Dead Space I won't get the armor.... I will end up offering $20 for one tonight at Gamestop, that or I will buy one on eBay.

Personally, I like freebies, but this just doesn't make any sense to me. I wish we could have had better clarifications on this on the forums, the lack of a response seems disturbing since many were inquiring about this topic.

You are assuming that because the PS3 version doesn't have a code, you won't be able to get the armor at all. But simply, it just works differently for PS3, although it is inclusive in that the only the PS3 version of Dead Space 2 will only get the armor in the PS3 version of DA-II. Beyond that we simply don't know how differently it works. So unless you plan on getting DA-II for another platform other than PS3, then you shouldn't have a problem. We just need to find out how the hell the PS3 distribution works. If Bioware could reply and tell us....

I should have been more clear, I am buying Dragon Age for the PC and Dead Space for the PS3.

Can someone who got DS2 for XBox tell how they redeemed the code? Did they have to redeem it on the XBox or through the "Redeem Code" box here on the website?

Yes, I'm one of the OCD fools who is looking to get a code off of Ebay.

DS2 PC and 360 - code in box, redeem here on social, see it on your registered promos page here on social, get item in DA2 PC or 360 by logging into EA account in-game (DA2)

DS2 PS3 - log in to EA account in-game (DS2), added to your EA account (you should see it here on your registered promos page), get item in DA2 PS3 only by logging into EA account in-game (DA2)

So it was my Second theory. I knew there was a reason why they mentioned access to the games and a EA account. Still, we now know how it works. Thanks Fernando Melo.

Thank you Fernando. That basically confirms my suspicion that I, as a PS3 owner, could simply rent the game. And thus this saves my fiancee' and I a great deal of money. Thank you very much.

Not exactly because SOny has came out with a new serial number software that registers off of games, its to fight the hacking and pirating of the system. I have a hunch this is what is going on with this system.

If we register Dead Space 2 for PS3 is there any way to get a code for the Xbox360 version of the armor for DA2. Say from EA, Visceral or you guys. I still don't understand why it wasn't a universal code for all of our accounts like the Staff of Parlathan.

Well then perhaps Fernando can give us more specific information as to how this works. Fernando: Will renting the PS3 version of DS2 and logging on with my EA account in the game be enough, or do I really have to buy it new?

I just had an idea.

Could someone who is getting the PS3 version of Dead Space 2, once they log in with one EA account and confirmed it registered the item in their registered promos page, then try logging in with a second EA account, and see if it registers?

Might confirm or bust what Phoenixblight says and put that argument to bed.

A company that has been fighting second hand sales with this buy the game original and get a free DLC idea, is going to have a blatant obvious loophole? I seriously doubt it if that was the case they would have just gone with the codes.

True but it's easy enough to test, man.

I just looked at the back of the case on gamestop.com, and for its online features it's using the same serial number system that their EA Sports games have recently adopted, where in order to access certain online features, you must register a serial number that comes with the game, OR you can purchase a serial number from them. If you must register the serial number in order to log in and register the item, even still, you can purchase one for about $10, which is still cheaper than $60 for a new copy.

If some kind soul who is getting the PS3 version could try my previous idea, we could put this to bed quite easily.

Even though it hasn't been mentioned specifically (at least near as I can tell), I'm presuming this means that the code and such only unlocks it for the system it was bought for and not cross-platform? Thanks.

It has been mention specifically. Xbox/PC work together, PS3 for PS3 .

After so many runs with DA:O, having all DLC's and their items and some other promotional items, the only way I get some real satisfaction out of the game is to play it and restrict myself to use only original released version items. Gladly DA:O is a hell of a game with the original items too. Hopefully, DA2 will be too.

That said, I wouldn't buy DS2 for an extra DA2 item but I really enjoyed my 8 impossible rounds with the first. Can't wait to get my hands on the game, for the game's sake and not some item.
