I can't read thru 23 pages of posts to try and find the answer to my questions so sorry if its a 100x repeat.. but from what I have read through this is what I picked up (and possibly misunderstood)... I can get the PS3 version of DS2 for 10% off, however I don't want to waste $50-60 if I won't get the armor. My sole reason for purchase is the armor for DA2. Here we go.. (I do not own a 360)

1. - The Armor code is not restricted to pre-orders or collector's editions, it will be in any retail copy you get inside the box at the time of purchase. (*All platforms, but NOT included with a digital PC copy such as steam)

2a. - Mixed Information -- If i buy Dead Space 2 for PS3, do I even need to enter a code? Or do I just have to login to my EA account when playing Dead Space 2 and it becomes unlocked to my Dragon Age account bonuses/unlocks without need of a code?

2b. - Does the PS3 Version of DS2 only unlock the armor for a PS3 version of Dragon Age 2? Or will it unlock it for PC also (which is the only version I play Dragon Age)?

2c. - Assuming the PS3 version unlocks the armor to my PC account, could I just go rent Dead Space 2 and get the armor that way?

3. - In the case that the PS3 method wouldn't work for PC, then the only 100% sure fire method of obtaining the bonus armor for PC would be to go purchase a retail copy of DS2 for PC, and enter the code I get from inside the box correct? (I assume that would also be the same for 360 owners, just not PS3 owners? Assuming PS3 DS2 only unlocks it for DA2 PS3)

4*** - If NONE of the above information is correct for me to get a PC code for the armor.. My last resort would be eBay.  If I buy a 360 code on eBay would that work for PC? Or do I specifically have to buy the PC code?

So confusing, thanks in advance for your time (and possibly saving me some money)

Guaranteed to unlock PC armor with the purchase of a 360 or PC version (retail obviously). PS3 version will most likely not unless Bioware and EA step up their game on this issue. No reason why the armor has to be platform specific. It's not like I buy every multiplatform game on one specific console.

Thanks for the information.. but does the game HAVE to be collector's edition or can it just be the standard retail version? I located a collector's edition locally is the reason I ask.. if I can get standard edition I can shave off $20.

Any retail boxed version, definately does not need to be the collector's edition.

The PC or Xbox 360 version unlock the armor for both PC and Xbox 360.
The PS3 version unlocks the armor for the PS3.

I'm guessing the fact that the PS3 does not unlock the other version is due to the different redemption method (as in, not having a code to enter).

Ok thanks a ton guys! You just saved me $20. I'll be buying the DS2 standard PC retail edition tonight.

I'd rather not gamble on the PS3 version knowing how they've already turned this in to a pretty big marketing ploy and don't always put the customer first.

*heres to hoping that I can resell DS2 for PC cheaply to someone who doesn't care about the code.

Why? This makes no sense, and is only hurting your customers. Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age II are completely different types of games. Doesn't it make sense that some people who own multiple platforms would prefer to play them on different platforms?

I have a PC and a PS3. I will play Dragon Age II on PC, just like I played Dragon Age and all games like it on PC. The PC controls of the original Dead Space were clunky and I had to play it with an Xbox 360 controller on my PC. This was before I bought a PS3, or I would have bought it for that platform. Now that I have a PS3, and especially when you factor in the free Dead Space Extraction on the PS3 version, buying the PS3 version of Dead Space 2 was a no-brainer.

If there was some incompatible technology reason here, fine, but I can't see one. It's a code. Why not just include the code in the PS3 version? Heck, since logging into your EA account in Dead Space 2 PS3 apparently adds it to your registered promos here, how hard would it be to also receive it for the PC version?

It really just makes no sense to me, and if someone from BioWare could explain the logic, that would real nice.

They're doing this because they want to actually MAKE people BUY Dead Space 2 rather than say rent it or borrow it or whatever and they either had issues creating enough codes for all 3 platforms or they couldn't implement the EA code redemption system on the PS3 or they had issues with sony or who knows what other reason. But they didn't want to leave the PS3 gamers without the option to get this armor so they made it easier for them to get it but they made absolutely sure ONLY PS3 gamers could benefit from this easier way so they can still cash in from all the 360 and PC gamers that want that armor.

Yep, DS2 is awesome. I almost had to change my pants at least 4 times and I've only been playing this game for an hour!

Im in the same situation. I got dead space 2 on my ps3 for extraction and to play on the big screen, but i am planning on playing dragon age 2 on my pc. I dunno why they didnt do a redemption system like they did for dead space ignition.

Only two more days until release here... looks like it'll be shipped today, so if I'm lucky it may even arrive a day early.

Looking forward to it, and the Armor ;)

--From a disgruntled PC gamer's perspective and long time Bioware game fan

SO I went and picked up a physical retail copy of DS2 for PC tonight for the DA2 armor (against my better judgement) but I'm going to wait a while to unseal it in case they wise up and let the PS3 version count for PC so I can get that PS3 version instead (DS1 on PC was a shameful console port).

The marketing scheme is very transparent here between Bioware and EA. People with money to burn are going to burn that money on whatever gimmicky way the marketing team comes up with that makes you feel you are going to miss out on content unless you pay extra on top of the price of admission to "get the complete experience" for a beloved franchise whether its cosmetic or not. Who wants to miss out on bonuses for the sequel to their favorite game? Oh, people who don't want to buy a game from another genre from the publisher that already demonstrated its horrid console porting abilities to PC from before. Does anyone remember the craziness involved with pre ordering DA1? You had about 8+ different outlets to purchase from, each with a different bonus for buying from.

It seems to me that they won't allow the PS3 version to count for PC/360 due to the fact that you can simply rent the game on PS3. (congrats to the rentals for 360 that had codes in them) They want that extra $60 that you otherwise would not have spent. And I won't be the first to say it, but because of the degree of controversy this is stirring up (or even if it was planned from the beginning) I am willing to bet that the armor becomes a paid DLC at some point. (And a DLC where you have to buy more points than it costs to cover the armor set)

This sort of situation right here is why the PC game market as a whole struggles. Pat yourselves on the back Bioware, you've officially contributed to the problem. (lol don't even get me started on EA)

Flame me all ya want for being over dramatic to the situation, and saying "Well then don't buy it". Do that all ya want. I wanted the armor, and I spent $60 for it. Nothing here is going to bother me more than that.

Yeah this is the only problem I have with it. I just went ahead and purchased it for the ps3 anyway. Would rather play multiplayer with my friends then get the bonus armor in the end, but it still sucks.

I read some of the ****ing going about how DS1 was a huge dissapointment on the PC because it was a console port **** moan cry whatever the Game was fun.

Its smooth flowing and very (I can't emphasize this enough) FUN.  If you're into this kind of game shooter or horror game its very fun.  And yeah its more creepy if you play this game with the sound on in a right level.  With the sound off its kind of a okay game.

I went ahead and purchased it for the PS3 anyway because of Dead Space Extraction. Free $15 game beats out free armor, BUT I should have still been able to get the armor on my platform of choice. And I may yet be able to if EA and Bioware actually wise up.

Well it's already done. EA can't really change it now. Expecting them to change the PS3 version's inclusiveness and different operation from the other platforms, is probably wishful thinking because I doubt it can be changed now with Dead Space 2 already out.

It should be already linked to my EA account. Which is linked to my Bioware account. There really should be nothing stopping EA or Bioware from making the next logical leap and allowing me to download the armor for my platform of choice, based on that information.

PS3 and PC gamer here. The chances of me buying Dead Space 2 were already slim, now it's none. Dead Space is the type of game I would prefer to play on my PS3 and I'll be honest something I could resell if I don't enjoy it much. Maybe after the demand dies down they'll be one or two codes left over on ebay to get them cheap.

I watched the gametrailers review for this game, and frankly no, just no. I won't get it. I don't care if this is nice armour. The game, though nice graphically just does not suit my taste. It's like you're asking someone who always uses peanut butter and is quite satisfied, that if they want the added crunch, they need to buy some jam. Well, no. I do not want some jam with my peanut butter dammit! I just want the crunch! D:

The disappointment with the pc port for me was that none of the DLC was ever made available, and it looks like that tradition has carried into the sequel.  Which is fine, I wasn't planning on spending cash on suits and weapons I don't need.  But now it looks there are going to be additional missions.  And that's kind of a bummer.

The other bummer (if this is in fact the case....) is that it looks like I can't get the DA2 armor, because I went the digital route.  I mean, seriously, that's got to be one of the stranger things I've seen.  I haven't purchased a hard copy of a game in two-and-a-half years.  Mass Effect 1-2, Dragon Age, the first Dead Space, all digital purchases (just to list the BW and/or EA ones...).   So of course I went that route for DS2.   And it doesn't look like I get a code.

Doesn't break my heart, I was going to buy it either way, but it is a bit of a let-down.  And I'm darn sure not buying a second, boxed copy of the game just to get some rogue armor.

But it does leave me wondering why the $60 I spent is less worthy of bonus than the $60 that somebody spent to get a box.  And it does leave me feeling a bit sour towards EA, really for the first time.  This doesn't feel right.
