Hehe.. Steam. Rule #3 has officially been added to the "warnings" involved with Steam games...

Rule 1: ALWAYS check in an upcoming game's forums to find out if it will be a Steam game. (Especially if you are blindly pre-ordering it and expect to play it at 12:01AM release day)

Rule 2: If the game is indeed a game that forces you to play thru Steam, ensure that the game is being 'unlocked' by Steam at 12:01AM on release day if that is when you intend to play it. MANY games that were forced to play through Steam have pissed off a lot of people when they waited in line to purchase a game at midnight, only to find out that they can't play it until 3AM, or worse, 3 days later!

New! Rule 3: If you are purchasing a game digitally, especially on Steam, for bonuses that the game unlocks within a different game (and possibly dabbling in the game you're purchasing), do one of the following things to ensure that you get what you're paying for: 1. Call a psychic (preferably Miss Cleo) to find out if everything involving your purchase will turn out proper. 2. Check out forums like this to ensure you actually get the content. 3. Don't do 1 or 2 and buy the game, blindly following the company's advertisements, and gain a special buff called "Got Screwed Over, And Wasted Money (Rank 10)".

Rule #3 applies to this topic. (Purchasing DS2/DA2 via Steam is optional)
I paid my $60 for the armor retail :) GL to the Steam buyers who wanted it!
Happy game shopping!

LOL I absolutely LOVE their humor. I don't play games on my PC but if I ever start Steam just got +10 rep with me.

Look at the posts in the official forum. In the below thread about 5 people said they finished it between 7-8 hours. Faster on next game plus.

http://forum.ea.com/...st/4733561.page

I think I'll still get the game though. I tend to play cautiously and explore everything and the game does look cool. I'll probably play around with telekinesis more than is necessary too. :)  And maybe EA will reconsider and make DLC for the pc version instead of just the console.

I finished it in a bit under 10 hours, and while that was in fact shorter than my initial play through DS1, it certainly didn't feel any shorter to me.  And I missed a ton of stuff in the log, particularly early in the game.   So I might have benefitted from a little more careful play.

I really loved DS2.  Good continuation of the story from the original.  Everything in the game seemed more streamlined, similar to the way playing ME2 felt after ME1.   I really didn't have all that many 'scare' moments in the sequel, but the creepiness factor at times was off the charts.  Some of the places they send you...a bit nuts.  I'll leave it at that.  The zero-gravity stuff was much, much more fun.  It seems to me that the combat was more difficult at times; I went through more health packs in the sequel than the original, and died way, way more times.

Anywho, as someone else mentioned, if you're on the fence about getting it, well, I'd recommend it to anybody.

(And I'm saying this as a digital customer who's perhaps apparently screwed out of the Armor dlc)

I'll wait until it's in the bargain bin...

If EA can't be bothered to put the DLC out for PC then I can't be bothered to pay full price... I have 'til 2012 to get it and redeem the code...

There aren´t many logs, at least on the first 2 chapters, unless they are well hidden. Pretty intense so far, but less scarier than the first. Or maybe it is I played Amnesia recently. I guess it´ll take me about 8-9 hours if it keeps like this.
About Ser Isaac´s armor, looks good save for the helmet. If it is finally implemeted I´ll probably use the helmet toggle when I´m wearing it.
Engineer armor for ME3? Please?

I used to think that too but nope. Just looked at my code slip again and there it was March 31 2012....a whole year after DA2 comes out.

LULZ here we go again. Can nobody read the bloody thread before posting.....before blowing $60 on a game?

As far as your question goes......you'll be OK as long as you plan to play DA2 on the PS3.....otherwise you're SOL.

I literally just finished Dead Space 2 ten minutes ago. On Normal difficulty, it took me 10:09:54

That doesn't count deaths and all, so I'd add about another hour or two into it. If it means anything I didn't play the first Dead Space (watched it on youtube though, still havent gotten that one yet) and I'm the guy who checks every corner for goodies before moving on. But however short it was, it didn't feel so short. The game usually kept you on a good pace (except chapters 6-12, where it can be inconsistent). The plot carries on from the first one, and its pretty good, very interesting. In my opinion thats the best thing about the series. If you're confused about anything in the plot, you're supposed to be confused about it. The game wasn't very scare IMO, and thats magnified by the "I'm such a badass" type of things you do (which are very badass). Very creepy atmosphere though, really sticks with you. And oh the places you go, the things you see XD Thats a good chuckle. If you're a fan of the series, you should definitely get it. If not, I would recommend you rent it (and be completely lost storywise, and know all of the spoilers from DS1), rent/buy Dead Space 1, or watch some Dead Space (1) footage on youtube. Overall I give it an 8/10. Not worth buying for some set of armour in DA2 obviously though.

There's been several over the past few pages. Basically you put DS2 in your PS3, log in with your BioWare account when prompted and the armor will be unlocked for the PS3 version of DA2 only. It will appear under your registered game promotions here on the social forums provided you use the same EA account here as you used to log-in to the game. No codes involved for you but it ONLY be unlocked for the the PS3 version of DA2. So if you want to get DA2 for the PC or Mac or 360 then getting the PS3 version of DS2 won't do you any good.

The 360 and PC versions of DS2 contain unlock coeds that unlock the armor for PCs, Macs and 360s but not for PS3s.

After playing the PS3 version of Dead Space 2, Ser Issac's Armor showed up under my registered game promotions for Dragon Age II on the PS3. I'm assuming when DAII comes out it will work just like any other DLC has in the past.

Also, does anyone have any ideas how a PS3 DS2 player can get a code for a  PC version of DA2?

Rent an X360 copy and hope the code's in there? Or get a Dead Space-playing friend who's not interested in Dragon Age to give it to you?

Any suggestions on places that may still contain the code? Blockbuster, ect?

Wait.. you know those weren't any sort of official Steam rules right? hehe.. those are just my personal rules involving Steam games.  I've had a love/hate relationship with Steam since it released.  I love the deep discounts that are often offered (especially the two weeks around Christmas) and the social network aspects for your favorite games. However I hate the type of situations that arise similar to the 'rules' i posted above.. especially for several games that I've purchased at midnight without checking to see if it's a Steam forced game, and had to wait to play it until they unlock it. Coming home after not only a long night in line to purchase the game, and also waiting in anticipation since the initial pre-order, only to come home with a physical copy of a game that I can't play b/c Steam hasn't unlocked it yet makes me want to kick a pig in the nuts.

Blockbuster leaves the codes in the games. Just have to be one of the first people to rent it. I just rented DS2 and code for multiplayer was still in there as well as insert for advertisement for DA2. I got the PS3 version and the after 15 minutes of play the Armor showed up on my account

wow nice.. I kinda wish I would have rented a 360 copy and made sure a code was in there before I bought the PC version of DS2. I won't complain any more though, I paid for the armor and enjoyed so far the first 20 min of DS2. The only crappy thing about PC (not sure about the other versions) is that you can't resell the game. They make your register your copy and authenticate it online. So just another item on the list of why the PC game market suffers.

^ The only reason they aren't doing that for consoles is because the Xbox 360 has the high RRoD rate, and if PS3 tried to take advantage of it, everybody would shout "Hey if you buy a game for PS3, you can't resell it. Chalk up another point for xbox 360" and that would probably hurt sales in some way. Also would hurt rental companies like GameFly.

Kay, i seen some answer about the redeem code for the PC version. but still a question. Right, I played Dead Space 1 and ofcourse i bought the second. Online. By the EA shop. Now you could tell me if i'm screwed, cause i liked also Dragon Age Origins. Meaning no armor?

*edit*
nevermind, I'm screwed. I looked further and there is still no possible way to redeem the armor for digital buyers of Dead Space 2.

If you got the digital version from their very one and only EA store it's probably worth trying to annoy them over the phone for one. Since they haven't been very clear about which versions get a code and which versions unlonck the armor without one and which versions unlock it for what versions of DA2. Obviously there's no guarantee you'll succeed that way and I personaly haven't heard of anyone who has but it doesn't cost anything to try.

I have to know, before I purchase it, does the steam version that you buy digitally give the code for the armor, and does the armor show up for the 360 version?

From what others have said on this topic, no digital retailer is offering this promotion.

However, I do know that if you buy a boxed version for the PC, the code gives you the armor for PC and XBOX360.
