Hehe.. Steam. Rule #3 has officially been added to the "warnings" involved with Steam games...
Rule 1: ALWAYS check in an upcoming game's forums to find out if it will be a Steam game. (Especially if you are blindly pre-ordering it and expect to play it at 12:01AM release day)
Rule 2: If the game is indeed a game that forces you to play thru Steam, ensure that the game is being 'unlocked' by Steam at 12:01AM on release day if that is when you intend to play it. MANY games that were forced to play through Steam have pissed off a lot of people when they waited in line to purchase a game at midnight, only to find out that they can't play it until 3AM, or worse, 3 days later!
New! Rule 3: If you are purchasing a game digitally, especially on Steam, for bonuses that the game unlocks within a different game (and possibly dabbling in the game you're purchasing), do one of the following things to ensure that you get what you're paying for: 1. Call a psychic (preferably Miss Cleo) to find out if everything involving your purchase will turn out proper. 2. Check out forums like this to ensure you actually get the content. 3. Don't do 1 or 2 and buy the game, blindly following the company's advertisements, and gain a special buff called "Got Screwed Over, And Wasted Money (Rank 10)".
Rule #3 applies to this topic. (Purchasing DS2/DA2 via Steam is optional)
I paid my $60 for the armor retailGL to the Steam buyers who wanted it!
Happy game shopping!

Look at the posts in the official forum. In the below thread about 5 people said they finished it between 7-8 hours. Faster on next game plus.

I think I'll still get the game though. I tend to play cautiously and explore everything and the game does look cool. I'll probably play around with telekinesis more than is necessary too.And maybe EA will reconsider and make DLC for the pc version instead of just the console.

I finished it in a bit under 10 hours, and while that was in fact shorter than my initial play through DS1, it certainly didn't feel any shorter to me. And I missed a ton of stuff in the log, particularly early in the game. So I might have benefitted from a little more careful play.
I really loved DS2. Good continuation of the story from the original. Everything in the game seemed more streamlined, similar to the way playing ME2 felt after ME1. I really didn't have all that many 'scare' moments in the sequel, but the creepiness factor at times was off the charts. Some of the places they send you...a bit nuts. I'll leave it at that. The zero-gravity stuff was much, much more fun. It seems to me that the combat was more difficult at times; I went through more health packs in the sequel than the original, and died way, way more times.
Anywho, as someone else mentioned, if you're on the fence about getting it, well, I'd recommend it to anybody.
(And I'm saying this as a digital customer who's perhaps apparently screwed out of the Armor dlc)

I'll wait until it's in the bargain bin...
If EA can't be bothered to put the DLC out for PC then I can't be bothered to pay full price... I have 'til 2012 to get it and redeem the code...

Redeem code only works until March or April this year. Agree about DLC <_<.

Rent an X360 copy and hope the code's in there? Or get a Dead Space-playing friend who's not interested in Dragon Age to give it to you?crusadeonacid wrote...
Also, does anyone have any ideas how a PS3 DS2 player can get a code for a PC version of DA2?

LOL I absolutely LOVE their humor. I don't play games on my PC but if I ever start Steam just got +10 rep with me.

Kay, i seen some answer about the redeem code for the PC version. but still a question. Right, I played Dead Space 1 and ofcourse i bought the second. Online. By the EA shop. Now you could tell me if i'm screwed, cause i liked also Dragon Age Origins. Meaning no armor?
*edit*
nevermind, I'm screwed. I looked further and there is still no possible way to redeem the armor for digital buyers of Dead Space 2.

Wait.. you know those weren't any sort of official Steam rules right? hehe.. those are just my personal rules involving Steam games. I've had a love/hate relationship with Steam since it released. I love the deep discounts that are often offered (especially the two weeks around Christmas) and the social network aspects for your favorite games. However I hate the type of situations that arise similar to the 'rules' i posted above.. especially for several games that I've purchased at midnight without checking to see if it's a Steam forced game, and had to wait to play it until they unlock it. Coming home after not only a long night in line to purchase the game, and also waiting in anticipation since the initial pre-order, only to come home with a physical copy of a game that I can't play b/c Steam hasn't unlocked it yet makes me want to kick a pig in the nuts.

I have to know, before I purchase it, does the steam version that you buy digitally give the code for the armor, and does the armor show up for the 360 version?
