I have to know, before I purchase it, does the steam version that you buy digitally give the code for the armor, and does the armor show up for the 360 version?

From what others have said on this topic, no digital retailer is offering this promotion.

However, I do know that if you buy a boxed version for the PC, the code gives you the armor for PC and XBOX360.

right, and since PC and 360 are same price. I'll just go with 360 then.

Somebody needs to update the wikia though. It's all wrong. PS3 doesn't get a code and only unlocks for the PS3, PC & 360 both get codes that unlock for these two platforms but not for PS3 and the digital downloads get nothing and all that not-so-good stuff. I don't know how to do it though. Not with all the separate windows and all that so if someone can do it it'd be good.

Thanks hopefully that will help prevent a few people getting screwed over and fewer repetitive questions like "Why didn't my PS3 version come with a code?" and so on.

Wow, so I can't even trade codes with anybody if I have the PS3 version? >_< I don't suppose anyone would be generous enough to just give one.

Has no one seriously tried making a complaint yet to EA customer service? I mean really tried not a half-hearted attempt that stops at the reps first "I can't do that, sorry." (Because the first time it's said is always absolute BS). I don't really care enough to go out and waste the free rental from BB I have coming as I am seriously cash poor otherwise I'd be willing to do it but I wonder what's stopping those that do have the game. Unless I just missed it, then ignore me.

I just sent a second response to them. So far they explained absolutely nothing I didn't already know and half of which I mentined in my question. I'm going to keep responding until I get somewhere.

I think this is pretty bogus.

Here's a tip EA, if you want to reduce pirating don't screw people over. By limiting the PS3 version to the PS3 your basically begging for them to pirate the DLC.

Whatever.  Pirates will find any excuse to steal.  Even if EA did give in to some of their "demands" I'm sure they'll just find some other lame excuse.

Just look at how heavily World of Goo was pirated even though it was DRM free and they even went so far as to let gamers set their own price for it.

Best thing EA can do is not listen to pirates at all.

Can Dead Space 2 owners activate it now or do they have to wait until DA2 is released?

Also, do you have to buy the actual game or do you only need the code?

You gotta pretty much have the Dead Space 2 game to get the code legitimately. Unless you yoink it from a friend who won't care.

And you can use the code right now until it expires march 31st, 2012.

Don't get me wrong I agree completely with what you said but it doesn't make sense to seperate them the way they did and it will simply add to the number of downloads of said pirate dlc. Eventually everything gets pirated but there are ways to reduce that and by limiting PS3 buyers of Dead Space 2 they are just increasing it, either way its small DLC also to be honest purely for appearence.

I totally agree, I was also led to believe that if I buy the PS3 version of Dead Space I could get the armour for the PC version.
As this is not the case I'm tempted to cancel my pre-order for PC DA2 signature. Childish I know but after the complete screw-up of awakening on the EU ps3 (should be p*** take) and the EU PS3 ultimate edition, I've just had enough with Bioware.  Why should I be penalised? I paid for both games and never pirated.

So please Bioware do us all a favour and sort this out, redeem your good name.

I've got to hand it to EA, this works. It was a little incentive to buy a game I normally wouldn't have tried and I'm really enjoying it.

Well for those suffering through the PS3 debacle, I just confirmed eBay is a viable, if costly, option. Some auctions are truly outrageous ($70?!?), but there are some semi-reasonable prices out there.

What kind of fool would ask for $70 for a code that is packed in a $60 game? It's cheaper to just buy yet another copy of DS2 for the desired code not packed in the PS3 version or downloadable versions of DS2.

Personally I'm glad I chose to distrust EA and BioWare and wait for the details of this promotion to surface before buying DS2. Beyond that I enjoyed DS2....just finished a plythrough and I'll probably play through it another 3 or 4 times once I can start modding it. A save editor for it is being worked on as we speak so that should add a lot of replayability.

Darth, is there a board somewhere where DS2 modding is being discussed?  The only DS2  forums I have found so far are pretty slow (including the EA one) and I haven't heard a peep about modding.  Just finished the game last night - made the mistake of playing on Zealot right out of the box - lots of death in chapter 14 -  eventually limped to the final boss and finished though.

Ok It seems im not getting the armor,

I just wanna say that the infamous "Valid everywhere the applicable games are sold. " sentence is the cause of all this mess.

I just wanna say Its said in tiny letters where the asterisk, I mean, in the headlines at dragon age home you don´t see anything like that, i mean, this was very absurd, badly explained, i just assumed buying dead space 2 ill get the bonus, and I also think this is easyly fixeable. Just use the cdkey for dead space 2 as a redeem code for the bonus in Dragon age 2, thats should be it.

With all respect, praising the developers at biwoare, this is .... awful, horrible, pathetic, indefensible, I´ve never seen anything like this. retail buyers get a code, a virtual good, but online buyers don´t? At least, someone admit this is so tricky, so twisted.... honestly im beyond words, fix it, just fix it somehow, try to make dead space 2 cdkeys to work as redeem codes or make possible to present the online bill , proven the game ahs been bought to have a code, do soemthing, but fix it. Cause this is the worst, worst, ever

Please somebody answer gently, not saying im a ****** for not checking every last page of the internet forums before buying something.

I just want some kind of answer.

is the code for the armor in the dead space 2 box or when DAII comes out, it'll scan the dead space save file on your system and you'll get it automatically?

If you buy Dead Space 2 for PC or 360 at a brick-and-mortar store, there will be a redeemable code in the box, same as the Blood Dragon Armor from Dragon Age: Origins, which will unlock it for the PC and 360 versions of Dragon Age II. If you buy it on PS3, you can log in to your BioWare/EA account from the menu and it will automatically register the armor for your PS3 account. If you buy it for PC from a digital distributor, you're SOL.

Please read the thread next time.
