Now I have a new problem. My husband used the online code as he played Dead Space 2 before I did. The EA Online pass code cannot be entered a second time, and just playing the game did not unlock the DA2 armor for me. Does this mean I am expected to buy a second copy of Dead Space 2 (which I refuse to do) or if I pay for the online code ($9.99) will I get the DA2 armor? I don't understand why 2 accounts using the same console in the same household would have to pay again. I can play online but I don't care about that, I want the DA2 armor. I'm worried if I buy the code it still won't unlock the armor because it will think I bought the game used, not new, and that I'm not eligible. If anyone knows how I can resolve this problem I appreciate the help. I also refuse to play DA2 on my husband's account just to get the armor.

Same mistake I made. :/ Bit annoyed really it should have unlocked the item for all versions of the game, so that people who decided to buy them on different consoles will still be able to get the item.

Okay, I keep getting two different answers for my question and need help and conformation. Since I own a PS3 and have DA2 preordered for PS3, is it possible to get the armour by renting Dead Space 2? I've gotten no's and yes's and still am unsure. I don't want to buy the game because I'm not a Dead Space fan so has anyone done this.

Loot should be earned through playing the game. I want to be rewarded for playing the game, not for shopping at the mall. The geezer who came up with this idea should retire.

I'm trying to. Though everytime I go, it's not in for rental because someone else has it. I'm hoping this weekend I can get my hands on it.

Also, consider playing the game too (I know it sounds crazy!). You are renting the game for armor, but it is a great story.
The entire site is sort of trivializing the fact that free DLC didn't come with some copies of the game, while the game itself is more than worth it.  That, and the fact that Steam users will get a community patch with the armor in it regardless so it doesn't matter.......

Still, play the game. If you don't like Dead Space, then why worry about the armor anyways? That is like me (who personally hates the Final Fantasy franchise) complaining that I didn't get Cloud's sword or something.

Ya I'm going to. I'm asking about the armour mainly because that's the deciding factor on if I'm going to rent it or not. Of course though if I do rent it, I'm going to play it, it would be a waste of money if I didn't, I may not be a fan but I'm sure as heck going to get my money worth out of the rent. Of course though I'm slightly curious of the multiplayer for the game.

For us wonderfully brits. You can pick up DS2 for around £23.99 to £28.99 for a short time. Just check out game.co.uk, play.com, amazon.co.uk, tesco.com, etc. so just hitting over half price nows the best time to get it if you were in two minds or if you just want the armour.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but after skimming the last 10 pages I didn't see anything like this. I bought the digital version of Dead Space 2 for PC off the EA Store but I never got a code for the armor. Do I need to ask customer service for it, or is it something that will appear automatically since I already redeemed the online pass using the same EA account I'm bound to use for Dragon Age 2?

By the way I did play the game during the rental period and it is a cool game. I never played the first one, but this game was pretty cool. A little freaky at times, but good. I plan on purchasing the first one used or trading for it and when the second one becomes super cheap I'll buy it too.

I was about to pull the trigger on getting Dead Space 2 for Steam.. but then learned it was doubtful I'd be getting the armor. Any news if Steam purchasers (or any digital service) will get the armor? The above posts seem to suggest the EA Store's digital service will..

@FereldenDweller: You need to be logged in to your PSN account, then play the game. You can then verify that you've unlocked the armor by going to "My Registered Game Promotions" under "Profile" here on the boards. It showed up instantly for me. The online pass is only needed to play multiplayer online.
