Exactly how does the armor system work in Dragon Age 2?  Can I upgrade the armor?  Do I buy new ones from venders?

You get Ser Isaac's armour and then you won't need anything new ever again, since you've already reached peak awesome

i think your personal armor works the same as origins, not too sure about your party members seeing as you cant change their armor.

I think you can only enchant your party member's armor. It's something about their armor changing during the ten year span of the game or some bullsh*t.

Kinda like that idea but kinda don't. I found myself with better gear to put on my allies but just not doing it. Well see

How do you know that you can only UPGRADE companions armor? Where have people confirmed this?

It's at the very bottom of the page in the podcast. http://blog.bioware.com/

You can upgrade/customize with runes the armor of companions, but Hawke's armor is the same as in Origins. Armor is also still stat-based as opposed to class.

So Hawke can wear different armor types bought from vendors, but companions armor evolves over time?

Yes. You can also add runes to your companions' armor.

This seems accurate from what I remember them saying. As long there's plenty of enchanting options, I'm ok with it. I want choices in how I equip my team.

I really hope that you can change everyone's armor and weapons. The whole "there's only limited items, but a ton of upgrades" bull**** that they did in Mass Effect 2 drove me nuts. Half the point of the playstyle of an RPG is getting different items, weapons, and armor. Especailly with today's graphics where we can see how individual armor pieces look. I like the idea of being able to equip different things and being able to see them. Why change it other than laziness? As far as worrying about the fact that time transpires, in real life knights didn't change out their armor every couple of days, so that fact could be used to explain why they have the same armor in the future.

The weapons I think you can change. I'm actually kinda glad that you only focus on Hawke's armor, now I won't have to worry about equipping my other members. When do you even get the armor's that you see in the trailers?

are you sure? i've seen screenshots of Hawke with Aveline, while Hawke is wearing the armor from the trailers and Aveline is wearing the clothes she has at the beginning of the game

I've seen screenshots with Aveline in upgraded armor. Maybe Hawke get the trailer armor early and so he's got it before Aveline's upgraded?

I'm thinking DLC items will be available from the beginning - remember, the Blood Dragon Armor was there when you started a game in DA:O (one piece in your inventory already, the rest available from Bodahn the first time you camp).

You may not have the stats to use it until later in the game, perhaps, but I'm thinking it will be available to you right away.

The 'look' of the characters changes over the course of the game. When you first meet Aveline she basically was a farmer/house wife or smith or something I dunno in Lothering. Not exactly trottin' around in full plate yeah? After you get to Kirkwall, she ends up getting full plate and wears that. The idea I believe was to give each companion more character via there looks (or well, making there character more apparent). It makes sense in away, you can buy upgrades like padding and such for each companion that upgrade there 'armors' base stats, as well as get slots added for Runes. Past that you still equip Rings, Amulet, belt, weapons all the other stuff.

So ultimately you still outfitting your companions, just helm/armor/boot/glove where combined into a single thing so they can alter there appearance due to story progression through out the game. Personally I love the idea, still get to customize them but you get the unique look like in ME2, the lack of stats in ME2 or ability to customize your companions in that area kinda... sucked. Glad DA2 isn't getting rid of that overall.

You can only change Hawke's armor. Companions get upgrades. I'm just wondering when you get the "Legendary" armors for each class.

On the bright side, at least you don't have to worry about giving your party members three matching pieces of armor each. I was kind of a perfectionist about that.

Maker help you if you found a unique piece of armor that wasn't part of a set. Actually, it was even ****ier if it was part of a set, and it wasn't all together.
