People will complain about anything. Unbelievable.

Not complaining, just calling it stupid. Two different things. It's like Thane's shades: stupid.

I'm more concerned about balance issues. How do they set the level of challenge when some people havbe this stuff and some people don't. Each individual item may or may not be a big deal, but they add up into quite a different power level for the party.

Dead space one was a pretty cool game though.

Edit: There are now 4 threads about this and one in the news forum.

It's a single player game. Who care who has what. What someone does in their game doesn't affect you in any way.

Also I'm guessing the armor will actually suck pretty bad, and there will be better options available in the core game. If ME2 and its set vs. modular armor system is anything to go by.

I'll most likely snatch a key off ebay... provided they're not overpriced.

I just can't bring myself to buy Dead Space 2. First I "suck!" at shooters. Second, its horror, full of zombies and slime. Ewwwww! I would love the armor, but its not worth $60 bucks to me.

It's cheeky and silly. And optional.

What's the problem?

This is a strawman argument. Your response only makes sense if those companies were gutted in direct response to them not doing something EA wanted. Not making money = / = disobeying studio notes.

fine, let's ask Molineux what happened with Magic Carpet 2 shall we?

I'm not saying EA is doing the same to Bioware, I just do not put anything past them

Comabt gameplay is probably about 60% of the game. If everytime an enemy came into your vicinity they burst into flames and died, would that be good gameplay? I'm assuming you would agree not and therefore we are simply talking about a question of scale in terms of how unbalanced the level of challenge is. What other people have in their games completely effects you because the devs try to balance the level of challenge for all people. Every "extra" item they add, which is powerful enough to use, makes their own job more complicated and these seem to be growing at an alarming rate.

Well, that's pretty much what we got in Awakening . . . Image IPB

This doesn't really change much.  I doubt anyone who wasn't going to buy DS2 will be going to buy it now just for the armor.

But I'm getting DS2 anyways so the armor will be nice.

I think the question of balance is moot anyways. It's not like game developers are making games difficult or challenging on any but the highest difficulty setting these days...a retarded monkey will probably be able to get through DA2 on normal or normal+1 setting, just slamming the keyboard repeatedly with its face.

I actually hope this is true.  It might eliminate future promotions like this.

However, I kind of think EA hopes people DO actually buy DS2 who weren't planning on it . . .or that some who buy DS2 will try DA2, since they get a free item for it.

It's kind of the point of the promotion ...

I feel like Ea games lately, the box game, you just get like 60% of the game, the rest is a bunch of stuff that gets tacked on later if you buy this, do that, jump through hoops and sell yourself on the street.

If I have a friend who says something out of character, or just plain stupid, I call him on it. It's no problem.

Bioware is apparently not adverse to chintzy marketing stunts. I don't have to respect them for that.

Oh...and can I have a Mario Hawke? Could be cool.

Goddammit, I thought we weren't doing "Buy ridiculous amounts of crap you don't want/need to get bonus content!" this time around.

Well, that too. But I mean the whole mixing IP's bit. It's plain silly. If you want to offer a special armor to people who buy Dead Space 2 as well, make the armor consistent with the look and lore of DA.

They really are making some cheesy decisions when it comes to dlc and bonus content for their games.

Oh, and I wanna dress my FemHawke up as Chun Li, cuz I just LOOOVE Street Fighter......:wizard:

Then don't imput the code from Dead Space 2 if you don't want the armor. Pretty simple

You would think people would be happy about EA giving them a gift for getting both games. But of course, this being the internet, people find something to whine about

It does look pretty ridiculous, but then again it's similar to the DA:O/ME2 Blood Dragon armor. I thought that was a little bit out of place with the lightup eye slits, but this new one is even more out there... Weird bonus armor is better than no bonus armor though, I guess.

Couldn't they have used a different character to mass cross-promote?

Like Ezio Auditore da Firenze? Ubisoft should totally come out with a boxed set of Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2, and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and include several promotional items for DA2, like double-hidden blades and a nice lookin' outfit for rogues, 'cos ya know, they got them kickass hoods goin' on, aye? Something like this. It'd be totally worth it to roll a fem/m!Hawke rogue if I could wear that. Rawr.

Since that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon, I'll just have to wait for a DA2 toolset to come out, and when it does, I'll get DA2 for the PC and see if I can't create my own AC gear. Image IPB

Yes!!! My brother in-law is getting dead space 2, and I've already preordered dragon age 2 so he's giving me the code, this is actually a great idea for both marketing and sales just because some people don't want to buy a game that has exta content for another the're gonna be pissy when they don't get it, then comes the whining in the forums

I want BioWare to reward me for pre-ordering The Witcher 2.

Seriously though, will we have a The Sims Medieval cross-over? That'd be great.

Personally, I was going to buy DS 2 for ps3 but I'll grab it for my PC since that's what I preorded DA 2 on. I must admit I'm looking forward to the lore explanation, which should be tongue in cheek. I'll bet that Ser Issac of Clark was once a Grey Warden. His story is known because he was little more than a blacksmith when the Necro....Blight struck. However his courage and resourcefullness saw him elevated to the ranks of the Grey Wardens where he eventually died in the final battle to slay an Arch demon.

Though Issac is gone, his amazing armor remains, useable by any class.

Come on, it kind of makes sense....
