Now on the other hand if Flemeth shows up decked out in this armor or something equally as absurd like N7 armor... then it's a gigantic facepalm.

That's my point. This trailer is aimed at people that were going to get DS2 and either didn't know about DA2 or only had some mild interest in it. It isn't showing gameplay because the two games have absolutely nothing in common except for the publisher and a silly armor (yes, it looks silly in DS, too).Phoenixblight wrote...
The trailer is not for the game but the armor.
Or its for people that have played DA and played DS and weren't yet sure about getting DS2. Or you know like me it further validates my reasoning for getting Dead Space 2.
Don't need gameplay video for Dead Space 2, there is a demo of it on PSN and XBL.

I don't get the 'out-of-place' thing either. Looks like regular metal armor with lyrium bars stuck to the faceplate. Now, how Hawke is supposed to see out of those things.. well I really have no idea, but now isn't the time for realism.

Not on PC, however, which is utter garbage.Phoenixblight wrote...

Anyway, my complaint about this is that there's nothing that ties the two games together other than EA. Blood Dragon Armor made sense, in a way, as they were both Bioware games. If it was a Sims:Medieval cross-promotion, I would understand it (both medieval/fantasy games...not that I'm particularly looking to buy Sims:Medieval) but, should I want this armor (I don't, particularly, at this point, but if it turns out to be really good, I might) I'm now asked to buy a game that's in a genre I don't like, in a type of setting I'm only mildly interested in.
I guess what it boils down to is that I think if you're going to do a cross-promotional tie-in for a game, there needs to be more that links the 2 games than who published them.

I'm more concerned about balance issues. How do they set the level of challenge when some people havbe this stuff and some people don't. Each individual item may or may not be a big deal, but they add up into quite a different power level for the party.
Dead space one was a pretty cool game though.
Edit: There are now 4 threads about this and one in the news forum.
I'm sure it will be something similar to the Blood Dragon Armor in DA:O, where you won't be able to wear the armor until your attribute(s) reach some higher number. In all honesty though, I don't really think this game will be too difficult for your serious gamers... thats my thoughts anyway.
It is somewhat a coincidence though that earlier this week someone had told me to look into Dead Space 1 thinking I would enjoy it... and now this news, I may have to try Dead Space out, there are just too many signs.

I loved the first Dead Space, and already have DS2 preordered. And I never say no to free armor.

People will complain about anything. Unbelievable.
Not complaining, just calling it stupid. Two different things. It's like Thane's shades: stupid.
I'm not trying to butt heads with you or anything, but by definition, to complain is to express your dissatisfaction or annoyance with something... so technically, to call something "stupid" is basically complaining. Again, I'm not trying to offend you, but to inform you.
Although, I'm not sure I understand your problem with this news... I mean if you weren't going to buy Dead Space 2 anyway... then whats changed?

There's a group of marketing, designers and animators at EA right now who are so confused, they give free stuff to customers who are brand-loyal or just happen to be buying their other games, and people are... complaining about it.

The message is "If you want the whole game you have to by a completely different game to."
This is not objectively true but it feels that way anyway.
I am sure that Hawke will not be able to equip the armor at the start of the game and that we will find better armor later in game so that it will really be only useful a short time in the middle of the game, but it still feels like missing out something if you do not by DS2. This is different from the Blood Dragon armor for ME2 because DA:O and ME2 are both RPGs developed by the same developer and chances are high that if you like one you like the other.
Frankly I would prefer if we go back to the old ways of promotion and just have a button marked "Trailers"in the start-menu that shows you the latest trailers for games by the same publisher, rather than this.

Now this visor thingie has THREE... THREE(!!!) glowing thingies? *facepalm* I wasn't going to get DS2 in the first place, this didn't change my mind. It could have though.. it could have, with armor that actually looked cool.

Stupid can mean a lot of things, usually depending on the stupidity/intelligence of the beholder.
You all are taking a thing seriously when it obviously is not. Intelligent?
It's obvious it's a sort of joke, look at the presentation. All the promos of DS2 for what it concerns bonus items have been done in an humoristic frame (look at the rivet gun, for example). I found it funny, because it is so obvious (as it is obvious they actually knew in anticipation the reaction of the "serious guys").
I would never use that armor (as I never used the dlc one of DAO), because I don't care and I don't like it, but it is obvious that it is not to be taken seriously and you are all tearing up your hairs in rage for an obvious joke/pun.
Then that EA is using the DS IP in other games of them, again, is nothing to be taken too seriously. In fact many of the settings these things are used in are voluntarily not matching or out of place. This is the pun and the joke.
But if you want to see a conspiracy behind it, surely it's not an exception anyway. From the Illuminati to the Maya calendar, to the abductions of aliens passing from the draconian/enochian/egyptian/cthulhu demons/gods/secret chiefs nothing impress me anymore (above all because all these things are proposed by people that know absolutely nothing of the subject they are prophetizing about).

I hate Dead Space, and I never planned to get it even if I could afford it. The armor looks awesome though, and I would like to have it for DA-II. But I don't want to and CAN NOT AFFORD to buy a whole other game I wouldn't even play in the first place. So here's to hoping that maybe I can get a code from someone who doesn't want it....
