The stage editor is very broken for me... when i first make a new stage it is fine, i can place stuffs etc, but as soon as i try to move the viewpoint or tilt the black 'smears' over anything on the screen, making it all pure black. I can however see the circles when i click on the rotate button, just not the thing i am rotating.....

any help would be greatly appreciated

Seems like a video driver issue. Try updating.
