Exactly what Nohvarr said above me ^

It is a privelage for us to discuss and/or read what the Devs have to say.
Why you don't understand that Mr_Commander_Shepard is beyond me, and many other forumites here.

Why do you get so mad? Sounds personal to you.

Well, certainly, your posts indicate you take this to heart.

Secondly, in this forum, you're not supposed to attack someone, especially on a personal level.
*Keep in mind, while I'm telling you this, I'm not mad, just trying to offer some clarity for you.*
And basically, that's what I'm here for, to make things clear to confused fans like you. It's ok, we all at some point in time can't understand how or why something does or does not happen.
But basically, I'm telling you one thing, trying to help you understand, and yet it goes in one ear and out the other with you...

And that is exactly how the Devs feel with this community. So, you are proving my point.

Jesse Houstons Big Work Project,

Yeah, the way people behaved about that one was just fantastic.  Thanks to the antics on that thread, he's no longer going to post about work stuff on twitter, and that of course includes not answering questions.

What happened in that thread?

Some people got pissy that it wasn't a DLC announcement (something which was never even implied) and was instead ME2 being available on the PSN day-one, and proceeded to throw fits and be insulting about it.

People were basically dissing Jesse's announcement, saying that the whole ME2 on the PSN thing was a joke...
but that's pretty messed up, because he worked hard on that. I'd say that many posters have turned into Vorcha these past few weeks.

I don't think it's fair to say everybody dissed Jesse's announcement. It's certainly a feat to make a whole game available digitally (or at least to me; I'm not a game designer). And a lot of us were expecting it to be PS3 ME2 or ME3 related. Some of us were hoping for DLC, and some got our hopes up.

Every one knows that we don't own BioWare and we don't expect them to do as we say. But we do expect them to talk with us sometimes. Some people keep bringing up the fact that they did so many months ago, well that was good, but that was a while ago. They have the right to do as they want. But for them to not want to is just wrong. If they don't want to talk to us until ME3 draws near then we think that they should at LEAST tell us that.

Okey, I try to explain it. You notice that what's bolded and what's underlined has conflict.

Bolded, says there is no talk required, it's up to Bioware what ever they do.
Underline says, but they need to talk to us because we want (demand) it.

Point here is you keep pushing for Bioware what you want or demand and also sometimes judge them not doing what you want.

Underline should be more like this: -- It would be nice if Bioware would talk more to us. --

Do you see the difference.

PS: I don't say anything you sayd was bad at all, it was fine, but "tune" when reading something, tells posters attitude. That's what I meaned when I sayed, it also matters how something is sayed, not just what is sayed.

Well, since I said "Some people" in my post on the subject, I don't have to worry about being unfair.

Wow. Unbelievable. That's such a shame, It really angers me.  Jesse Houston seemed like SUCH a nice guy. People really need to learn how to socialize properly. (If you're reading this, I'd like to apologize on behalf of my kind (a fan) for whatever insults you had to endure. I'm not joking. That is really ridiculous. I just hope you know that we don't all share the same arrogant views.)

Not necessarily true. *snipped for brevity*

As a creator myself I understand what you mean, sometimes I get so exited I share and comment stuff that I shouldn't.

But I don't think either of us has a potential fanbase of a couple of millions, nor deal with anyone that started making demands or passive-aggresive (or just plain aggressive) threats and insults. Also, I don't think we would risk a job by telling some obnouxious people to **** off. (I know a moderator for wow forums or two that had meltdowns and had to be *ahem* reallocated).

I wasn't referring to your post, but it's nice of you to clarify anyway.

Well I agree with that. That was the only difference I could find that could result in limited interaction. I know one of the Bioware writers apparently had a meltdown on the old forums. I guess it's harder when you have more people expecting a lot from you. It's a shame, I used to say how Bioware would always participate in their community, contrasting it with Bungie who rarely does. Funny thing is - most Bungie fans defend them no matter what. Many Bioware fans trash them no matter what. It's sad.

There really has been a poor shift in how people treat the devs. Thing is too, it's mostly coming from new people. Monkey see monkey do.

I think we need to hit the reset button in regards to fan/dev relations. Lets start over with a clean state. If this doesn't get addressed in the early stages, it will just get progressively worse - and all of the fan love people used to shower over Bioware that made them what they are to day will start to decrease. The result won't be pretty. I'd like to think we can all act like mature adults and respect each other.

I think the Jesse houston psn announcement was fault in both side, though it mostly our(community though not everyone) fault me included, the way it was presented caused a lot of hope. For me personally, I was extremely saractic and I relies now it was wrong, I seem to forget that there is alot of work no matter what u do in a game and everything is special to them, though on the other hand I was expecting it to be on psn. I have some friends that dl from psn and though bioware would of had that covered, thus I was expecting them to just have it there no announcement or anything. Of course that's naive to think that it's not special to someone that has worked on it for so long, but I have that habit.

So I would like to personally apologies to mr Houston, even though he probably won't read this, thinking back it was stupid to backlash like that. I regret doing that now, scaring of mr Houston from post on twitter about his work which he seems to enjoy posting about.

And finally, if this thread is to represent the community, I would shoot myself now, people just cant resist name calling or insults.. Congrats guys just emphiese why bioware wouldn't want to come here often

And that's totally fine. We're all human, we all have emotions, and it's perfectly understandable for someone to experience that. Especially when you have millions of people pressuring you on your work. I wasn't condemning you, rather I was theorizing that it must be related to the pressure of the fans always expressing their discontent with something in the game. There's a difference between constructive criticism, and just plain criticism. I have to say, I see a lot of the latter here on the forums.

I agree with polite, we really need to just reset and begin a new. It's already pretty bad and I enjoy this forum, so I don't want it to get out of hand. The only thing is there are a lot of adults here that can not act correctly, so gradually if we all(most of us) fix up our attitude we might actually get visits from dev's that aren't here cause there is a thread like this that needs to be adressed

I really feel so bad for that,:( even though I didn't participate in the bashing that he received. I know firsthand how it feels to be excited to share your work with your fans. I've had it both with 2d and 3d design. I've just never had someone attack be because of it. Just put yourself in his shoes - you've been working hard on a project, and are excited about revealing it. Once you reveal it, people belittle your work, and dismiss it as irrelevant, unimportant. I know I wouldn't bother posting my work again to those people if that happened to me. I sincerely hope he reads this and knows that not everyone feels that way. I know the hard work and time it takes to develop video games. Personally, I think paying $60 for a game is pretty cheap considering the amount of time and work going into these things. But that's just me. Artists put a lot of love into their work. When people have a passion for what they do, they really get into it. I know he said that he was even working while on vacation. That's dedication. And to have all of that hard work, that he did for you guys (the fans) dismissed as nothing is pretty shocking, and extremely sad. I just can't express in words how upset I am about that.

As I said above, Jesse Houston seems like such a nice guy. People need to think before they speak and consider the consequences of their words before posting/saying them. Other people have feelings too.

If I can remember right, that happened in a thread that had EVERYONE freaking out. That super troll Angelw1ng was basically just being the colossus of douchebags and well, we know how it all ended.

To this day I have no idea why that kid wasn't muzzled, neutered and shot a whole lot sooner.

I think it would be appropriate to start a developer appreciation thread to let them know that we value their individual worth and contributions to the game/trilogy that we all love. I wouldn't know where to post it though. But let the developers know they're appreciated. I've read in leadership books that it's essential to let your team feel important because it affects their overall attitude and self worth, resulting in an increase in effort/quality from the team due to the acceptance and appreciation of the hard work they've put forward. Two key points. First, they're people just like us, so we should treat them with the same form of respect we'd want to be treated with. Second, they benefit from fan appreciation. If we want to see great quality games from Bioware, let their teams know that they have our support. Let them know that their fans appreciate the amount of love and care they put into each of their games. I guarantee you that if we (the fans as a whole) change our attitude towards Bioware, we will not only generate a more positive forum atmosphere, but encourage the developers to increase the quality of their products in appreciation for the love and support from their fans. Instead of making a game for the grumpy fan base, they'll be making a game for the fan base who supports them, treats them with respect, and appreciates the time and work they put into the games. Hopefully people see this. Spread the word. Ripples gradually become waves. It may start off small, but everything does. ;) We need to spread some Bioware appreciation around here.

I whole-heartedly agree...we need to make as many positive threads as possible...because thats how WE really feel...

Just post in general...it's the go to forum once the third game is announced.
