 Hello guys!

Yesterday Ive experienced an unusual problem. I tried to look for some answers on google, but seems like my problem is unique. Let me explain you.

Yesterday I was doing the Eyegouger stronghold quest. I started right after Casavir joined the party, soon I got into the stronghold itself. I cleared the whole L1 wondering, where Yaisog and Logram are (there was no one in the throne room except some orc archers). I cleared it all and then I went to L2. This level was smaller. I got to one of the rooms and because I had sdomething important to do, I saved the game and quit it. I was also saved at the very beginning of L2 in another save file. In a hour or two I returned to the game and continued from the place before Lograms room. I think Yaisog wasnt there, though I havent killed him before. Probably I just skipped him, because there were many orcs to kill. AFetr killing Logram I went down to L3 and finally got to some injured guy lying on the floor. He told me about the experiments and then the Shadow Priest arrived. I killed him, forgot about Issani and ran straight to the exit. This is where the odd things start, Id say. The only place I could travel to via world map was West Harbor. At first I thought its okay, but after I got there, I realised... I travelled in time. After I left Farlongs house, where I was teleported to, I saw nothing, although I expected some battle, because there were battle sounds inside the house. Instead of a battle, I saw some heavily inured walking villagers, which cried Help! when I clicked on them. Then I ran to the field. Everything was the same just like when I was leaving West Harbor after the battle for the village: I saw all the guys I was helping, I saw Farlong, etc. I could even get some quests there (helping wounded villagers). :alien: . Now that scared me, cause there was nothing about it in my walkthrough. I then realised I forgot about Issani, loaded the after-battle-with-shadow-priest save and spoke to him. Then I ran to the world map and everything was exactly the same. The only place I could go was West Harbor. I returned to Eyegougers stronghold to look for some clues, and found Issani standing in his room again. He was there, even after I rescued him. I spoke to him again and rescued him again. Nothing happened. I tried getting to the world map outside the stronghold, but that didnt help too.

So, guys. This is a bit scary. I am going to load my L2 save later today and see if this helps. I think Ive caused the problem somehow, cause it seems no one experences this. Anyway, I am not sure thatll help, so I am asking you: Is there some way to fix this?

Hope someone will help me.
Thanks!

hi darmanius,

Let me know how the L2 save goes. I've been poking through the Eyegouger Lair in the toolset and have a basic grasp of the sequence. Right now, the problem sounds like it's Issani; he's supposed to move away and disappear after talking to him .. wouldn't worry about West Harbor, it stays like that for some time, iirc .. it's the World Map that's been blotto'd, although I haven't looked into it enough to help you fix it (if possible). You might want to look through Lt.Danger's Let's Play, in addition to whatever walk-throughs you've been using so far - here's some links to that :

Bonegnasher Cave
Casavir
Eyegouger Lair, L1 & 2
Eyegouger Lair, L3

The precise moment when things start to go screwy has to be found. I'd include the Bonegnasher Cave, because if you've not slain Yaisog things went wrong long before Issani

Well atm I dont have that much time, but I'll test the save soon.

Well I haven't slain Yaisog in the Bonegnashers stronghold, but that's okay, isn't it?

I think so, but according to the Let's Play .. you should have at least met Yaisog in Bonegnasher's, and had the option (?) to let him go.

Can ya remember, Did something like that happen?

edit: pretty sure Yaisog's supposed to pop up beside Logram in the throne room, if he's not been decapitated yet

Yaisog is indeed supposed to show up beside Logram if he is still alive. So that should at least give you an idea of where things started to go sideways.

So hello again guys.

Well, as I said before, I have let Yaisog go in Bonegnasher's Stronghold. Not I loaded the L2 save, got to Logram's room, spoke with him and Yaisog popped up. I killed both, proceeded to the Shadow Priest, killed him, rescued Issani and the World Map works now. Well, it's possible the bug happened because I went to the World Map before going to Issani. Anyway, it works fine now. So I'm gonna load the savegame near the World Map and go questing!

Thanks for the help anyway.

Oh, I have another problem now. Actually, it is an offtopic, but I don't want to create a new topic, so...

When I finally got to Neverwinter after the Eyegouger's Stronghold, I went to a shop and sold al the items I didn't need (some useless, but expensive loot I had). I also had lots of gems, a few essences, some other useful crafting items, you know. It was getting heavier and heavier and I decided to put it somewhere. Well, I had no better idea but to put it on the floor in the "Flagon"... Firstly I put some cheap item, left the building and then entered it again. The sack with the item was still there, so I decided to leave all the items I didn't need at the moment there.

Now, a few minutes ago, I rescued Shandra from the farm and brought her to "Flagon". The inn was attacked soon, you know... After that I realised all my items are gone. There is nothing. I saved the game and quit, cause it's late already and I want to sleep.

Is there a way to find those items? Did they disaappear only because of the quest and will appear there after completing it? I have a save before I left those items there, but I don't want to do all the quests again.

Any ideas?

There are two possibilities. The items may indeed have disappeared. They do that when unattended. Always store your junk in chests, bags, crafting stations, or the inventories of unused NPCs if you want to see them again.

Which brings us to possibility two. NPCs will pick up stuff if they're setup to do so in their AI. You would know if you set it, though, because the default is to not do it.

[edit]  Quest-important items shouldn't disappear in any case so you probably didn't lose anything vital.

all i can say is,

on one playthrough I did exactly what you did. There was well over 50 items (probably closer to 150) all spread out and organized in neat piles all over the Flagon's floor. But I was careful to make strategic saves and not let a new Act progress when things were like that .. I_Raps pts. notwithstanding in this case (they're good pts.) now to your question

without checking, I believe the Flagon fight scene uses a different module or area than the normal Flagon. That is, the items may well re-appear if you just reload the Save and continue.

But note, once the game really destroys an object .. it is gone.

an option (cheat) is to spawn in a Bag o Holding and use that - consider it 'extraordinary circumstances' ;)

I dont want to use chetas like "KILL ALL TEH ENEMIES IN 10KM RANGE LOL", but having some bag could be useful, couldn't it? :)

Anyway, I decided to do it all again. Now I have some small magical bag where all the gems and other crafting items are. Also all the expensive loot is stored in Sand's shop, in the alchemical workshop (not sure how it's called in English, I am using a Russian version of the game, cause I'm Russian :). Is it okay, or the things can dissapear again?

* should be * Ok ( your risk )

until before the end of the next Act or something like that, when the game shuffles ya into a new module and the past is bye-bye ..,,

O-o-okay. The game's getting buggier each day.

The next problem, he-he, appears!

After getting to Port Llas or something like that (you know, the quest you need to do in order to not get executed) and began searching for somethiung that should help me explaining others I'm innocent. I've done all the quests needed (according to my walkthrough): helped some mage with the corpses in the village of Amber, rescued the boy from the village, got the ring from the goblins under the village, then found the miner near the old tree in Duskwood, got the powder off the driad in the Duskwood too, and finally spoke to the dwarf armorsmith in the Port. Also I've spoken with the girl from Amber, which I found in the guard's house. I've spoken to the chief guardsman too. Now, when Sand said I'm ready to speak to the guard again to prove I'm innocent, I went to the port and spoke to the chief again. I do not know why, probably that's the bug, but there are no new topics to speak about. Then I tried to travel to Merchants' in Neverwinter, but suddenly I found myself standing in an empty field. Tried it several times and every time it was the same. Well, same **** for the Docks and the Black Lake. Didn't try other places, but it's kinda useless, I'd say.

Well, I do not know why the game is so buggy and what to do with that. Also, once I've got teleported to some kind of a fort instead of Duskwood (after the driad and the miner already), where were some strange humanoids. One could teleport me somewhere. I don't know what was that, but it looked like some cheat place, where I can go to and get anywhere I want from there. I don't know how to explain that, I suppose you do know what I mean, though.

I've got a couple of saves, two of them are after the possible bug already, and another two are a long time before I even got to the Port. I do not want to play it over again, cause this time it's not a matter of some 30 minutes, but nearly 2 hours. Well, any suggestions?

P.S. I should rename this topic to "Darmanius's unfortunate adventures" :D

If there is a bug here, it's probably Haeromos of Port Llast, but you'd gotta be more specific.

The empty field: I mean it's an absolutely empty location, like 50 square metres, no trees, no buildings. You know you can create custom maps in some games (Warcraft III for example), now that empty field looks exactly like a raw version of a map, where you have to add NPCs, building, trees, etc. Anyway, it was just an empty location, absolutely empty, and I've got there instead of getting to the streets of Neverwinter.

Haeromos: Well I'm not sure what do you mean. I really don't know where the bug started. Almost all NPCs in the Port speak to me as if they've never seen me before. Nevertheless Mark is in the inn, the stupid guy which spoke of me as the destroyer of the village now says only 'I have nothing more to tell you' or something like that. I can ask Haeromos about the same things again and again. Same works for the hunter woman in the inn - each time I try to speak to her, I can choose from one of those options I've had when I've seen her for the first time.

I'm not sure why I think so, but it's possible the bug started when I went to Duskwood for the first time. I really don't know, though.

Probably there is a way to retrieve an old save, which is now rewritten? Is there some save archive or something?

I'll try to provide you some screenshots tomorrow, if it would be possible.

hi Darm, it honestly sounds brutal :(
let me ask you some questions, where and roughly when are your most recent saves? ie, Have you tried them yet?

note there's no save archive; you might try file recovery but that can't be counted on. I don't think I need screenshots, I saw the empty field in the Toolset .. you're right: it is empty (just a waypoint and a start circle).

... So, it sounds like you're stuck in Port Llast, gotten all you need for the Trial, but can't get back to Neverwinter - and instead end up in the empty field or with those strange teleporter guys (a nightwalker, a zombie, and a kobold) .. correct?

Heyho!

Looks like you're seriously interested in my case. Well, thanks!

Since I've tried to get to some places before I posted the message hear, autosave won't work. I'm not sure (I'm not playing yet), but it's probably in Amber. Another save is in the tombs of the Black Like district, before the main boss Arval, I'd say.

And the main save is in Haeromos's room, after the bug, of course.

Yep, right (except the empty field I got to is absolutely empty - there is no waypoint nor the world map even. I have then to load some save in order to get out of there).

And yes, it's brutal :)

Some people say restartimg the game might help. Not sure about that, but I'll try to load the bugged save once to check if something changed. If no, then, well, I'll have to load the old save :(

Now, when I loaded the newest save, I could get to Merchants' district, but there are no new options to choose from in a conversation with Haeromos. When I tried to get to the Black Lake, I got into the empty field again. Didn't try docks. Gonna restart the game and start from the old save.

loL, I think I found the problem: jagged around with an old save (from Act II) in Arvahn and tried to get back to Neverwinter. did it for long enough and - guess what?! - Empty Field!!!

What's happening, it seems, is that the game is not passing a string into a LoadModule command (for whatever reason) properly. The command is

rs ga_load_mod("2000_Neverwinter", "wp_1024_from_1023")

(at the console in DebugMode). The funny thing is, apart from the game messing up, for those who want to know, the AWOL waypoint tag above *doesn't even get used correctly* .. it just wants a Tag, no blanks or it's Empty Field for you!

okay. i hope that works if your old save didn't

Heya again!

Thanks for the console stuff, but I didn't use it - the old save worked for me. Actually now I'm ready to travel to the Crossroads. Hope there will be no more bugs. At the moment everything goes well.

Oh, and please, don't spoiler too much in this topic - I want to fully enjoy the game! :)

Well, another minor problem, guys :)

Now after I've got the Crossroads Keep and ordered Nishka to be in my party again after a long time, she just stands and doesn't follow me. She fights, she can be controlled, but I prefer playing my own character, not Nishka. I actually don't like her that much, but after some items in chests broken by Elani's Ice Storm I realised I need someone to open those chests without destroying them. Until I'll get another level and throw some points into opening locks, I'll have to use Nishka.
