Tech Support,

Is there a way to disable ME2 crosshair? I just recently upgraded my graphics card and I am playing ME2 again on 3D. Everything looks amazing except for the crosshair. Shepard has depth; and anything or anyone in front of him is/are even farther. The crosshair on the other hand is still in 2D mode...looks like it is at the back of Shepard. I know the game was not meant for 2D but I was hoping it can be done.

I searched this forum and found no article about this. Also I googled and found a 'downloadable' "tweaked" Coalesced.ini file on NVIDIA forums. The tweaked file did disable the crosshair but the game would crash from time to time.

Maybe you can help.

Thanks so much.

Bioware would never ever help in anyway to support or help people who use Stereoscopic 3D. The only reason I say that is because of all the posts about stereoscopid 3D i've never seen any bioware staff member actually help lol.

1. Install 1.02 patch if you haven't.
2. Delete or backup your current coalesced.ini (use the original, untouched)
3. Download this program: http://social.biowar...m/project/1854/
4. Run that program as administrator
5. Change the following to these values (just use the program to search then edit in top right):

LensFlareMaxOcclusionIncrement=0.00
LensFlareOcclusionStepSize=0.00

6. Search for [SFXGame.SFXGameModeDefault]

Add:

Bindings=( Name="G", Command="Showhud" )

Now you can just hit G to turn off the hud which also turns off the crosshair.  I play with high convergence & about 20% depth, I actually play with the crosshair. I wonder if the game is crashing because of something else and not the Coalesced.ini you were using. Mass Effect 2 looks amazing in 3D, I just wish more people knew how great it was.

I hope in Mass Effect 3 they will add an option that lets you easily set the transparency of the crosshair to zero.

Let me know if you have more questions.

The only advice I could give, it look through the modified coalesced.ini you downloaded, search for "crosshair" and take note of every setting. The, go through your version of the coalesced, and make those changes, just in case there was something else in the downloaded one that was not compatible with your game or configuration.

@Distinepeals: If you read the forum description, you would learn that official game support is performed by EA, not Bioware. Checking with EA might give you and answer, but seeing as teh gaem wasnt designed for 3D, they may just tell you that it isnt supported, and leave it at that.

 Distinpeals,
Thanks pal! Will try that one out and report any issues. Yeah! ME in 3D is simply AMAZING! Don't know though why 'they' have NOT jumped in with this mode yet. 3D is a game changer.

Thanks again my friend. Will post effects soon.

It's weird, for 15 years I've been playing games with rendered 2D images at 30-60fps.

But for the last two months I've been playing games with Stereoscopic 3D.  Now when I try to play games in flat 2D, my eyes reject it.  My eyes actually know what is natural now.  3D is natural, 2D is fake.

When I go to my friends house and he plays a game without 3D, my eyes are very confused. They are trying to achieve depth & convergence but they can't. My eyes are actually rejecting 2D.

It's so hard to explain.  Unless someone uses stereoscopic 3D for a month straight they won't know what i'm talking about.

Once 3D monitors come down into the $120.00 price range and the glasses drop to about $39.99 .. We're going to see everyone using stereoscopic 3D because it's vastly superior to 2D.

The tip you gave me Distinpeals went well. I am not having 'crash' issues anymore. Not having a crosshair or any indicator at all went good so far on my run as a Vanguard (Insanity) in 3D mode. Charging was the fun part on 3D as I feel the world is collapsing on me. Pretty cool I might add. I had extreme difficulty lining up those shots though (no crosshair) when I was up against the 'human reaper' towards the end.

How to disable the Crosshair ...

Edit Coalesced.ini

Change:

(Tag=Reticle,                ZOrder=10,    Handlerclass="SFXGame.SFXSFHandler_Reticle",            PanelResource="GUI_SF_HUD.ME2_Reticle")

To:

(Tag=Reticle,                ZOrder=10,    Handlerclass="SFXGame.SFXSFHandler_Reticle")

Enjoy.

Soon I will release an app on the nvidia forums that will automatically turn the nvidia 3d laser crosshair on & off when you hold down right click and let it go. Very cool.

Even though I have a distaste for 3D-cinema and -gaming, it's great to see people create the mods and apps necessary to use it :-)
