I am female and play both mass effect and mass effect 2. I have multiple play thoughs of paragon and renegade, depending on which play through I'm on I will go all out para/ren. In me1 I had a few paragade play throughs too but I don't find this as effective in me2 due to the whole loyalty factor.

I mainly play as male because I like the cannon shep lol and yes the romances are important to my enjoyment of the game.

The only other thing I can say is I really don't get why so many people love tali so much, she was the one and only squadmate I was happy to see get wasted, she bugs the crap out of me.

let's not turn this into a character bashing crap thing! Everyone has different likes and dislikes and there are other threads for this.

I have to ask though, what has MaleShep done to you that you wanna put him in a cannon?

sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Im sorry if it read like a character bash, however I was asked my general opinion as a female and I gave it.......Maybe the popularity of Tali is a male thing, who knows.........

it certainly is not! But Tali discussion doesn't belong here and I would hate to see yet another thread fall victim to the same old Talihaters vs. Talimancers discussion.

Therefore, let's move on!

I have uh wut, 20 Sheps I think. I've created one for each romance, some are single, some cheated on the ME1-LI while others stayed faithful. But I'm not female, I'm a 40 year old, bald fat guy and I live in my mom's basement where I sit in front of 10 big screens with my own power supplies in case my conspiracy theories are correct, which I know they are. yah...
Jane

20 Sheps, and all of them are guddam awesome.

You, I dig you.

Not at all.

I've done many playthrough's with those Sheps, by the way. I just don't have so many different Sheps; I'm the type who likes replaying the game with the same character(s).

who said I've only played each Shep once?:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:

EDIT: nah, I was kidding regarding the life thing. I just like to have different characters. My current MaleShep is a Renegade pro Cerberus Anti-Alien guy who didn't even recruit Garrus in ME1 and will try to kill off the Alien squaddies on the suicide mission in Me2.

all those Kaidan, Thane and Garrus fans are just gay men /sage nod

just kidding :P seriously though, there are a lot more female gamers that people want to realize, many of them just don't advertise the fact. and contrary to popular belief, female gamers are not all lonely overweight pimple faced geeks, anymore then all male gamers fit the above description.

P.S. here's something to ponder :P next time someone kicks your butt at halo, but you never hear them speak, they might just be a woman :)

P.P.S.  I like Tali :/  she just comes across as too young to me :/  little sister - yes.  a good friend, absolutely.  lover?  that just feels wrong, regardless of her shape.

I am a woman who plays Mass Effect and loves BioWare in general. I prefer FemShep because when a game gives me the option to play a woman I usually take it. I also have a few Sheploos (he is hot!).

Romances are not essential but very fun to have. The only FemShep romances I liked are Kaidan and Liara. My Sheploos paragons are loyal to Ash and my renegades like Miranda. I love that us gals can play as guy and romance the ladies and no one thinks that's weird :) Oh, I am also married, just in case anyone is taking names.

Edit: I'm a female Kiadanite :?

And I certainly agree that female gamers aren't necessarily pimply overweight nerds! I advertise the fact that I'm a geek, it's what makes me me after all. I don't like to hide who I am.

I like kicking people's butt at Halo too ;)

yeah I'm no geek or nerd. I love metal and I pretty much like to socialise with people whenever I get the chance. I love festivals and concerts and work takes up most of my time so I can pay my bills.

edit: i usually kick people's butts in real life because i so suck at doing that in a game lol.

geeks of the world unite!

oh and my female canon shep is all about kaidan (cause he's awesome), my male canon shep is liara (cause she's a shy geek, who ends up growing claws, but still retains her original sweetness), both are heavy on paragon, but with a good smattering of renegade. other sheps are just to play around with various personalities and romance options :)

my better half has been trying to teach my how to kick ass in real life for as long as we've been married, but I just don't like physical contact with strangers or inevitable pain that comes from butt kicking, never had.  I do adore archery and fencing though and I'm not half bad.

A lot of female gamers out there I would imagine. Me being one of them.

Nearly full Paragon. I might have resulted in some mission-helping Renegade moves here and there but usually I was an idealistic and even sometimes harsh Paragon.

what decisions did you make through out the storyline.

Mostly the "good aligned" choices. Freed the Rachni, talked Wrex to side with me again etc.

Was love relationships a big deal to you?

I was attracted to Kaidan far more than what I would've ever imagined. I did enjoy ME2 as well though, even if he only had a short and very annoying cameo. Let's just say that since the romance is there, Bioware should see it through and do it WELL. Kaidan/Ash fans are kinda left in the shadows. If there weren't any romances at all, I wouldn't be highly bothered. You wouldn't know what you're missing but now you do and it kinda sucks.

Post you're character if you wish

Image IPB

Played the same character as Adept, Vanguard and Infiltrator and I suppose Infiltrator is my "main".

Warning: there will be SPOILERS in this post for ME1&2. If you for some reason haven't played yet, then don't read this. You have been warned.

I'm just curious about the girls being a fan of this game. Even though majority of males play it I assume. There is girls out there that do like to kick ass, and I think it might be great to have a thread on it. here is my character folks.

Well, my DudeShep (Engineer in ME1, Sentinel in ME2) was a full-on boy scout, but I normally prefer playing Paragade. I too modeled my main Shepard after myself; that's the same one as my avatar. She was an Infiltrator in both games (heh, you can see the sniper rifle in my sig). I also have a Renegon FemShep (Vanguard in both games) who romanced Liara.

I've experimented a good bit, but as my main FemShep I did basically what I would do if it were me. I saved the the Rachni Queen because I felt their race had been brainwashed and things would be different with her in control, and let the hostages die in BDtS because I felt long term, letting him go could cause an even worse disaster than losing a few people--I felt it would be a selfish emotional decision to save a few that I felt a connection with and risk more planets blowing up, and a terrorist like that doesn't stop so the best thing you can do is make sure he's not alive to inspire others of his race.

At the end of ME2, I told TIM no not because I didn't believe he had the right motives, but because of the insane terror that lit his face and his undertones of speech. TIM was so afraid (and thus, one of the few sane people who got what was happening in the galaxy) that he couldn't see what had to be done. For all he knows, the stuff he wants to examine will Indoctrinate his people, which we can't afford, in my book. In fact, all my Shepards made that decision for different reasons. Because a galaxy still tainted by the Reapers' presence isn't safe for long.

Romance... I experimented with it, but what I really want is Joker. A handicapped LI, voiced by Seth Green, who's basically Joker's best friend? I mean, how many people have said that if their best friend was the opposite sex, they'd date 'em? Well, FemShep basically is that for Joker. It just makes sense.

Kaidan... he was too Carth due to his voice and I really liked Ashley, so I have a playthrough with him but in more of my games I let him die. Garrus... I was thrilled until I actually played ME2 and noticed that you basically have to do a bunch of sleazy come-ons and then it's like "CALIBRATION CALIBRATION CALIBRATION" forever until you finally get a lousy headbump. Thane... he was too Carth due to his backstory. Jacob.... "But the priiiiiiize" says it all. He was basically a booty call that you sexually harrass until he sleeps with you.

In other words, I don't want to be ungrateful but I am deeply disappointed. The developers have some... odd... ideas about what women want, in my opinion.<_<

But I love the plot, I love sci-fi, I love the shooter elements, and now that Seth Green is married to a gamer girl who he'll probably nudge to play the ME series if she hasn't already, I dream all the more of a Shepard/Joker romance path for ME3. It would be nice to have a NON-FEMALE LI that I can appreciate. (I liked Ashley and Jack's romance paths very much, and Ryla fit well with Liara due to the contrast in their personalities.)

Female, been gaming since the internet was born. Serious BioWare fangirl (keeping in mind 'fan' is short for 'fanatic', so may or may not be joking about having a BioWare altar).

I've played ME1&2 several times each (ME1 fave: Adept, ME2 fave: Infiltrator). Always as female.. I have a very difficult time playing a male character if I have the choice to play a female. All leaning Paragon to various degrees, but never completely.

Well i'm female, I only use two Shepard though, a maleShep for Ash, and femShep for Kaidan. I was paragon in both, although I have done some playthroughs as renegade, didn't import them though. I might import one, just to see what happens with renegade Shep in ME3.
