Oh, dont be silly. Why would women play games, if they can be out there shopping or endlessly chatting about men while drinking coctails in their favourite club.

Sorry couldnt resist.

I thought there is a lot of woman around here. Kaidan Alenko support thread (no offense really, I confess I am also lurking there somethimes) always helped me to think so.

And I also thought that Bioware has pretty large girl fanbase.

But sad thing is, considering all my fellow gamer friends I am only one addicted to Mass Effect or Dragon age. At least this much. But yeah, there is not many girls who I know, who would play something else than Sims.

I have always loved imaginary worlds of movies or games. Heh, maybe even more that real life. Usually in term which is considered not very womanly, as hating romantic stories and liking good action.

But I am a woman. Righ. I somethimes do cry while watching movies. For example movie Vera Drake had me weeping nearly whole second half. Damn you Mike Leigh.

M3h guess thats your thing... personally I dont understand the "challenge" to it at all but thats just me.

Gamers are Gamers, when blood gets thin and adrenaline high there is no crotch or breasts just the sound of buttons getting smashed.... and the obvious sound of defeat of "agh!!!" think it comes out pretty much the same no matter the mouth.

just like some of the gamer chicks need to point out they're female to show that they are as tough as guys, i guess...

i admit from the start that i'm a crappy gamer and i don't think it's because of my gender but more likely because i'm no hardcore gamer xD

1st: That is odd... few gamers I've realized they were female is because they eventually let me know. basically because they didn't want to either be hit on... or be insulted. Never really met a woman trying to prove anything.

2nd. depends on what you play. Now if you just barely play then thats another issue.

nevertheless... I gota admit I hate it when my roomate beats me at strategy games.:P<_<
rts is my thing not hers... but thats all she plays so. To each his own.

i have three real life friends that game. one is female, the others aren't. those are the only ones i know that are somewhat decent with computers as well. everyone else usually calls me for their private tech support which i find annoying because i already do that at my fulltime job. computers should come with a "drivers license". don't know how to use it? - then you are not allowed to own one. that simple!

thats a bit harsh lol

If it bothers you start charging. Those who are friends will pay the rediculous small fee, those who aren't will look for the next tech savy person to mooch from.

Same with xbox repairs. I barely know what 1% of the xbox does but 90% of the "buy new xbox " excuses are easy to fix. Ditached cable... uneven driver... dirty fans etc. Every friend gets charged a dollar for a full clean up. Moment I said that most "neighbors" never came by again. Those that had sense of humor leave the xbox in my patio with a dollar inside the box.

it's harsh cause it's true. people love to get stuff for free. i'm not doing this for free and people don't wanna pay what the work is worth. so i'm not doing it and they can go where they have to pay the same at a store where it takes longer. again, that simple for me.

would be as simple, if they just sat down and actually learned to find out what they are doing but most stuff is often too much to ask for.

Not only do I play ME1 and ME2 they are my favorite series of all time. BioWare does an amazing job of getting women to play their games by simply letting you be a female character. Also, unlike most female protagonists in games, they are actually referred to as female instead of male just because the male choice is more popular amongst players worldwide.

Plus the romance is always a nice touch for girl gamers I would say ^_^

I dont ever want the mass effect series to end!

all good things must come to an end. personally, I'd rather ME doesn't turn into Sword of Truth series.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but so far every story that I've come across that was originally meant to be a trilogy, but grew so popular that author was pressured into writing more and more sequels, ended up like Garrus's metaphors - somewhere horrible.

I know especially with all the character development, which brings me to another reason I am a fan of the game. The characters are what keeps me playing, along with the sci-fi ^_^

I admit, I am a pretty hardcore gamer, but I have a social life and I work. I have stayed away from WoW.

Guys are often quite shocked at how much of a gamer I actually am, I guess it's cuz of all the stereotypes about female gamers. I mostly play RPG's. Been a Bioware groupie since Baldurs Gate. I also love the assassins creed series, Halo, Fable, Oblivion, Fallout, Warcraft 2 and 3 and a few RTS' too.

I have loadsa friends who game who are male, but none who are female. Which is why I come on here. Mass effect is my favourite series, closely followed by Baldurs Gate and Dragon Age.

Unfortunately, the only friend that I know is a gamer is my brother, who introduced me to video games
I have yet to meet female gamers IRL like myself <_<

For the OP, I loved ME but only played it through entirely from 1 to 2 with two characthers, one female renegade ( being a badass is AWESOME) and a male paragon (I've noticed the trend is the opposite...)

I enjoyed the romance options for both genders but I think the guys have it better

And I dismiss the stereotype that gamers are fat nerdy guys with glasses, I'm quite fit actually for I am an athlete ^_^

I'm 45 and I've been Gaming since WAY before it was cool and long before Computer Gaming...
Out of everything I've seen as Gaming has evolved over the Years, I think Women getting more into Gaming is the best thing that's ever happened.
It's broadened the Scope and Focus of Games themselves and it's allowed Women to become an accepted part of what long ago (30+ years ago) was a "Boys' Club" where Women were only considered "placeables" to add realism.
Women have always been as capable of Men when it comes to Gaming...I'm really happy that they have become participants on equal footing and are no longer marginalized into a position of playing Games about Hairdressers and Fashion (there's nothing wrong with those if that's what you want to play...but it's nice Women have broader choices)

True enough. I dont mean it to become another final phantasy or something. but ME has the potential to break the damn trilogy ....habit.

SOme have the potential... some are messed up by companies even when the potential is still there.

Some just dont got the potential.

Example. Prince of persia. Could not go more than 3 and perfectly done... story wise, last wise looked like NES got a come back in graphics.

Halo... had the potential for 4... but Bungie or whomever just didn't had what it takes.

Splinter Cell.... they tried to make this weird story... one of its byproducts is double agents... one of the worse games I have ever played.

Mass Effect has the potential... like early Halo is story rich... and easy pushed into 4 places... I always imagined :
ME1: Shep induction Chasing Reapers
ME2: Collector problem
ME3: Vanguard of the Reaper fleet arrives... and either the Batarians are helping them or some unknown figure.
ME4: War is being lost and we're hunting for another Illos like weapon

personally I just hate when games leave gaps.... that are so rich in story.

Like Halo 1 and Halo 2... sweet god there is more action in how the chief got back to earth than how he managed to go to another ring.

Some games have it... some have it and screw up... some just dont and need to ened gracefully.

ME like a few rare titles... has it... and for now bioware or EA hasn't screwed it up. Honestly I am afraid Bioware is going to pull another halo 1 halo 2 sequel card.

halo 1
"we are going to save the planet"
sequel
"we lost the planet already retreat!!!":P

best example of the Halo screw ups I've seen.

halo reach
Mission 3 "we can fight"
Mission 4: "5 months later.. " we can escape!!!"

I'm female and I love the mass effect series. I have played through them so many times that I have Shepards of most any alignment. I prefer my paragon/paragade choices over the renegon/renegade... but playing renegade is the most fun--but it makes me feel bad, so unless I play "pure" renegade, I am renegon by default. (I never killed Shiala, for example...)

My main Shepard is female, infiltrator, Earthborn, sole survivor, and paragade. My LI is Liara. I would say having an LI was a nice addition, especially since they allowed a "female" option. I am a completionist, so I absolutely loved all the little side missions in ME1 (even though using the mako was a slow process, I made my own fun). The side missions in ME2 where cool too, but it felt like I wasn't making as much of a difference. (The side missions in ME1 had Hackett giving me feedback on the repercussions. In ME2, I can assume the impact of my actions, but I don't really get any feedback--TIM doesn't care.)

My other female characters are:
Bzak, Mal, Ashley, Mallory, Leela

My males characters are:
Magnus, Magnus II, Richard

I have multiple playthroughs with each character (switching alignments and LI). I prefer the romance options for my male characters in ME2... but that's probably because I prefer to hit on women than men (and since ME2 didn't have any lesbian options, my gay femsheps stayed faithful, except for one who jumped Garrus, then Thane.) My straight femshep did not like Jacob at all, and didn't really want to get with the alien guys (so she's faithful as well). My poor gay man still had no one (except for the one I hacked so he could romance Kaidan). My straight guys are making out like bandits--one pretty much bounced around the normandy like a ping-pong ball so that he could romance everyone in sight. The LIs in ME2 were more bountiful (for the most part) and made for an interesting diversion. However, I preferred ME1 for story.

EDIT:  I would just like to add that many ladies in my sorority play video games.  Most are Wii gamers, but we do have some hardcore 360 gals as well.  Halo, Left 4 Dead, Fable, Guitar Hero... yeah, we play it all.  I never really thought of gaming as only for guys (I started out on my parents old NES when I was just a little girl). However, when I tell people that I game, many are shocked.  I guess I don't "look" like a gamer to them. (Not every gamer has to be out of shape, you know!)

I met my husband while gaming. We have different play styles, but we tend to enjoy the same games. One thing we do have in common is a lover of sniper rifles. If a multiplayer game is released after ME3, you'll never see us coming. ;-) It's been fun sharing Mass Effect. He's finishing a completionist run of ME1 since he lost his saves to a hard drive failure. I'm on my 6th ME2 play through.

That sucks..... recommend bying a cheap old ipod at a pawn shop and reconfiguring it. Makes excellent cheap storage devices for xbox.
