I don't want to be corralled into a sacrifice ending. The best way to really end this epic would be to build in a number of epic endings, good/bad/mixed result, sort of like DA:O. Let the player decide what he or she wants the ending to be through gameplay.

Any of the following-



-Inside one of the Reapers, trapped under some sort of extremely heavy object. Watches entire squad leave before detonating some explosives.



-Clearing out the Normandy of all crew and using FTL to plough into a Reaper



I'd hope that sacrificing Shepard isn't the only outcome. Hopefully varying things like choosing between saving Earth and LI, LI or best friend etc. The more the endings vary the better. I don't just want mildly different endings like ME2. It's basically the same ending just a different number of coffins etc.

If that's the way it has to be...Shepard takes on the final boss on his own the give whoever the time to destory the final threat and in doing so Shepard gets beaten to hell for 5 minutes until hes obliterated.

After defeating the Reapers, destroying Cerberus and killing all the husks and Collectors in the galaxy and ensuring peace and survival for all who inhabit it and essentially defeating the most dangerous force in all existence.... Commander Shepard dies by slipping on a banana peel.



... It is the only death that can possibly do him justice.

For me, I hope Shepard lives.  I think that Joker will eat it though, in a heroic kamikaze strike with his pseudo-LI Cortana EDI with him until the end.  Shepard isn't going to wait for Jeff to get on the escape pods this time. 

If Shepard has to die, as had been said before, I want it to be of old age with her/his LI.  :innocent:

If that can't happen, then wipe EVERYONE out by the reapers. 

If that's too dramatic, then go for the self-sacrificing yada-yada.  Hold the line (with your squad/LI at your side OR for you squad/LI to escape).

Or overlord, when Shepard is 'infected' through/from David maybe something there could pop up again, could be a major boot up the reapers ass.

If Shepad dies it should be like this:

In the final moments Shepard flies directly into the Reaper's main dark energy well at the heart of the galaxy with the Normandy. Then Shepard uses his now beyond-human biotic and tech powers to stay alive as the dark energy tears the Normandy and himself apart. Just as Shepard is stripped down to his cybernetic skeleton, he seals the source of  the  dark energy forever banishing the Reapers from our universe of existence. The well collapses into a single point and a huge shockwave goes out across the entire galaxy. All the Reapers battling the various species across the galaxy let out shrieks of terror before their cores overload and they implode.

Then Boo along with the other Hamsters dance with the Geth and Ewoks  on Earth in celebration!

But then we pan to the Illusive Man in his chamber who while smoking a cigarette smiles as he holds levitating in his hand a small shred of dark energy. Dun dun DUN!

Cut to credits.

Honestly it's what I thought happened in the first ME. I was like Soverign got him after all!

Cue dramatic entrance of Shep and me going:

wouldent mind the option of having shepard with no options left to destroy the big bad, getting everyone to abandon ship and he flies the normandy solo and detonates the mass effect drive causing a rift in space time and destroying all the remaining reapers,

then theres like a memorial service with all the characters weve met and all the pretty girls crying, garrus/grunt/wrex giving a speech about how bad-ass shepard was and its all epic n stuff (just thinking out loud here)
