She beat Wrex. You can't get more badass than that.
Well technically even if Aria is Aleena she only survived their encounter and according to Wrex he had her on the back foot until the space station started to fall apart, however considering how easily Wrex goes down on Virmire I am not sure how great a feat that was.

Makes sense , personally I still prefer him being alive.But I could see Anderson viewing it as one last mission to go out on rather than waiting on the sidelines(sense he is a soldier who actually does want one last chance to do something that matters.)

It's not just that phrase. Once you're done with Omega and completed all missions there she opens up to you and talks about her past. She mentions having commando training, running from a friend to avoid killing him, pissin off a krogan and then when you finish a conversation she tells you "Better luck next time".
If they're not the same person then thats a hell of a coincidence.

Well, that makes sense. I thought it was just the one phrase.
I never spent much time talking to Aria or that much time on Omega. I never did any of the missions for Aria other than that one with Patriarch. Could it possibly be Patriarch? err... not to get too far off topic.
On topic: I'd like to see Captain Anderson, if he wasn't appointed to the council, at the head of a Reaper killing fleet. See some of those skills that made him a Captain (or Admiral) in the first place.
