I was wondering how the stealth works in NWN2. For example in BG2, when you did your first sneak attack, you could then run to a corner out of the enemies line of sight and re-enter stealth mode again to prepare for another sneak. So my question is this: Is it possible to re-enter stealth mode by hit and run tactics like in BG2, or am I forced to use HIPS?

You could do it that way if you don't get completely mobbed or your companions don't go running off to perform a suicide charge against opponents you can't even see on your screen.

If you don't want HiPS, you can use Feint. It's not stealthy, but it lets you do sneak attacks. Having one of these feats is advisable.

You also get sneak attacks by flanking opponents busy with your teammates, you know.
Feint is awesome! It even lets you tank and do frontal sneak-attacks! Consider it dirty fighting (unlike the feat, though!): some sand throws in the eyes, cloak wrapped around the enemy head, a blinding light reflection from your blade, a shout:"Hey, do you see that UFO!?" - anything to make the enemy loose his combat concentration really. And he stays disrupted for a whole round (stealth sneak attacks only work for 1 attack flurry - 1/3 of a round) and he is also distracted for all other party members too!
Just make sure to buff your Bluff every available way to win the opposed checks (max skillranks, decent Charisma, perhaps half-elf or Tiefling (weak Cha though) racial bonuses, Silver Palm, Skillfocus:Bluff, Negotiator, Shadow Thief of Amn level 1 & 3 feats, Warlock's Bluff bluff, (Greater) Heroism, Inspire Competence, equipment bonuses).

Perhaps I should have mentioned in my opening post, that I was not really planning to use this on any of the official campaigns. Knowing how fickle the npc AI is, I wouldn't even dream of of using this trick with them on board. I was just intrested in knowing if the mechanic to hide in a corner to re-enter stealth, while in combat (dont really care how useful it is) was still there and I got my answer.
But thanks for mentioning the feint feat. Somehow I've missed that one.
