By the time dragon age 2 releases, it will have been in development for less then a year and a half. Most major releases take 2-3 in development...so I pose the question to you all. Do you think DA2 has been rushed?

Pretty sure this has been discussed 9,547 times before. You're assuming they just started working at the end of DAO's release, this is not the case. Also, they didn't need to re-create the world... just build on it.

Rush would mean that they alotted longer developement time for it during the planning phase, which I don't blieve to be true. So I'd have to say no, it's not rushed. Will the game be the same as DA:O in length and scope? No, but they didn't plan that in the first place, so there's no rushing to speak of anyway.

True. DA2 was always meant to be done quick and cheap

Depends on how you define rushed I imagine. Could it have been in development longer? Sure. That don't mean it's rushed out though.

Oh, it's time for the weekly "is it rushed?" thread again? -.-

You know, development time is one thing, but since we have no idea, not even a slight estimate, about the amount of manhours that went into DA2 compared to DA:O, why does it even matter? Especially since DA2 is in development since early 2009. And wasn't the time between BG and BG2 similar?

It just occurred to me that there's a fat kid who lost his cookie to Sten in DA:O...something to ponder isn't it?

This is a question one can only answer for themselves after they have played the game.

I say for the billionth time, Bioware has stated NUMEROUS times all over the damn place that DA-II has been in development since long before DAO every freaking launched. But yet again morons do not freaking listen. And you guys wonder why the devs have stopped replying to these? Maybe cause they're SICK of repeating themselves over and over.

I say again: DA-II HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT SINCE LONG BEFORE DAO EVER LAUNCHED. DO NOT FREAKING ASSUME THAT DEVELOPMENT STARTED AFTER DAO LAUNCHED BECAUSE SUCH ASSUMPTIONS ARE WRONG.

I giggled. Out loud. Not a good thing when you're trying to stealthily slack off at work.

I believe development on Dragon Age 2 started before Dragon Age: Origins was completed, so no.

We'll find out when the game is released and we see all the cut content and bugs.

You people are basing your assumption that it is rushed on the ASSUMPTION that development on DA-II started AFTER DAO launched. This is NOT the case. Development on DA-II started way back in early 2009, several months BEFORE DAO launched. So it has been in development for several more months than you are assuming. Hence meaning, no it is not rushed.

ALSO, MOST of DAO's development time was spent designing the entire world of Thedas, writing out all the lore, etc. Not just Fereldan, the entire world was entirely completed during DAO's development. SO, they had far less they had to do here, considering all of the lore and everything about Free Marches was already done in the first place.

Somebody will provide a file viewer, be it the developer or a third party.

They're still on crunch. I remember reading in an interview with one of Bioware's developers that the time from content lock to release is around eight to twelve weeks. They're already off schedule if we are to follow that guideline, so at this point I fear more a delay than a rushed product.
