Seeing how Ashley hates Cerberus, it'd be interesting to see her reaction if this is true.

I mean that could be why they wrote her so full of vitriol on Horizon (nevermind the rest of the bad writing there, but I digress).  Someone in the game had to remind the player just how bad Cerberus is.  And since BioWare is all about cramming the term "emotionally engaging" down our throats it would make sense that this revelation would happen so that if Ash is anywhere near your game (assuming she ever is again) it should be a pretty important, emotional fallout.

Yeah, I added to my previous post. If you're a Ash fan, I think you'll like the idea.

I agree. I would love to see Ashley's reaction to all this if it turns out to be the case, especially since she's my canon love interest.

However, it doesn't really make sense that General Williams founded Cerberus when Ash said that he just worked crap jobs after the occupation was over.

I would assume he'd keep that from his family.

Also, General Williams is deceased...correct?  I don't think the UNC mission would have been referring to him, then.

Those crap jobs could be a cover for his duties in a fledgling Cerberus, that would be a neat twist.

What I wonder is that General Williams could not work alone, so what if a Captain/Major or another underling of his, that was at Shanxi, rises through the Alliance ranks to become the General mentioned in that log?

And eventually TIM takes over for General Williams and still uses General Williams' contacts including that General mentioned in that log?

Far more interestingly, wouldn't it be interesting if 'those people' who try to get General WIlliams' name cleared from time to time included or were supported by Cerberus?

Perfect DLC delimma.

'You've found proof  (of insert here) you can use against Cerberus, but among the files is evidence that Cerberus not only originated with the help of General Williams, but has been behind most attempts to clear his reputation. To expose this evidence would blacken Williams' name beyond all hope of repair, turned into a cautionary tale for all of Humanity.'

Naturally the paragon option is to cover this all up. B)

If this was correct dean, i'd alter one of my saves to make Ash live, and get me some renegade points. Don't judge me for my current place in life, atleast everything i did is for the greater good, you just condemed me with no time to think.

This is all very interesting...Cerberus/General Williams/Ashley's reaction....this needs to be put into a DLC ASAP  :P

Anyway, I do wonder if Ash's opinions on Cerberus would change in lieu of this possible scenario?

The VS DLC should definently expand further on the Alliance and Cerberus connection.

What's Kaidan's role in all this? [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]

Seriously, though, I wouldn't idealize Cerberus by such a mushy stuff. Sharing booze with Williams in his bunker is one thing, big politics is another. And in big politics Cerberus is behind Terra Firma, which, I'm sure, is the reason Williams' name has got such notoriety over the years (which is in turn the reason Ashley hates this party, although she "ain't a fan of aliens" herself).

I don't think it would change the fact that Ashley knows what she knows about Cerberus and has the justified opinion that they're a messed up bunch.  I think it would shake her opinion of her grandfather, make her wonder if she ever truly knew him.  It would be very hard and confusing for her I think.  Everything she knew about the Alliance, her granddad, his service and her service would be turned on its head.

As far as Kaidan entering into it, I simply suppose that if Ash isn't alive in your game it would still be a big discovery to learn about the Alliance and Cerberus marriage.  That's why this would be perfect for dlc.  It's important whether or not Ashley is there to deal with her feelings on it.  It makes sense that if there's Alliance dlc Ash would be more effected by it, but I have to think there would be something special for Kaidan in there too.  Just not sure what.

If we're just throwing speculation out there then TIM could be Ashley's farther who inherent Cerberus after his farther and faked his own death in order to run it full time.

Damn it's almost like a chapter of Dynasty! :)

This. Tim is now Ash's father!

She has daddy issues too and her loyalty mission will be dealing with them, like every other loyalty mission :P

Perhaps about Conatix and BRAIN Camp? And it's connections to Cerberus and the Alliance.

DURR.  I can't believe that didn't occur to me!  haha  With either character there's lots of potential for stuff that could easily NOT require them being there and then it could be just an added bonus to their characters if they are there.

Acting in Ashley's memory, fo course.

TIM's long since proven he has an idealistic and personal side beside his buisness side. Business trumps preference, but when they don't, no realize he can't try for both.

Yeah, I wouldn't have remembered it either if it wasn't for the femshep playthrough I'm currently doing. Also, Kaidan mentioned this chick from Turkey he was pretty close with during camp. It'd be cool if she made an appearance as well.

I don't doubt TIM's idealistic side. I just don't see the logic in sacrificing Gen. Williams' good name at first, then trying to un-sacrifice it. If anything, TIM could have made it up to his grand daughter somehow, but he let her hang out with that silly Anderson and gave Jacob the job of saving the Council from Batarian terrorists.

It would be "plot" , not sure you could legitimately call it a "plot twist" tbh.

Who founded Cerberus is irrelevant in the grand scheme really.

Needs of the time versus needs later. Short term versus long term.

Plenty of things we don't like but have to accept in the 'now' that we would prefer to (and can) mitigate in the later.

Well, this may, or may not be the case how TIM thinks about Gen. Williams. We can't say for sure either way until we learn what were exactly the circumstances of Williams' surrender - those reported by the newsmen, and the real ones. But I'd be honestly surprised if TIM had what you suggest on his mind, out of gratitude to Williams, respect, or what not. Regardless, was it a cover-up to allow Williams to concentrate on building up Cerberus in its early years, or just that the Alliance needed a quick scapegoat to manage the "political sh*tstorm" in the wake of the First Contact War, TIM, I think, would wish to let it remain at the hopless bottom of his priorities, especially since he had erased his own identity from all the databanks.
