My logic? Well, it seems some assets (like weapons) got tranferred over directly without much improvement, but that's to keep the level of detail/texture resolution the same as the huge amount of new assets. (At least that's what I would do.) There isn't always time to completely revise your graphics style *and* upgrade, it's usually one or the other. Just hope that any DA game that may appear after DA2 keeps the style, that way graphics can be improved.

This is true. But it's still a worry to see some screenshots looking so grainy/crappy in such a recent preview article.
It's hard for me to take screenshots so seriously(at least the PC version) when those shots are scalable, according to the PC you have. The only thing these screenshots make me feel is indifferent to the screenshots.

Crap? How? Sure, they might be worse than dao, if you look at it that way, but they aren't BAD. The faces look smoother, less realistic, but does it really matter? It's not like the people are all blocky...

Settings that argument aside, look at the textures of the characters in comparison to those newly released screenshot.

Especially when you rush the game out in 18 months. And strip out half the RPG in it.

The only effect the artists have on the game designers is how the game play looks.

I have to agree, the screenies you posted do look good, but many others don't. The inconsistencies have been puzzling. The ones that don't look good are, hopefully, those taken off a console game. I wish they would state this clearly for us to be able to understand the differences in quality.
I know graphic quality is not a game breaker, but it adds a lot for some of us detail fiends.

And I have yet to see PS3 pics, so I never showered them with praise. I couldn't care less what the game looks like on an Xbox.

The point isn't comparing DA2 graphics with other next gen games. For all I care they could've made DAO with KOTOR's graphics. This is about DAO's vs DA2's graphics.And, honestly, when did graphics become the most important part of BioWare games?

Idont think anyone is fighting only expressing a difference of opinion, some are more visceral then others, I think it looks better but thats subjective i guess, what really frustrate me is that a lot of the critisism is without reference as to what it is you dont like, things like, it looks silly or ugly or it looks worse, cant really be helpfull to developers, there are some people who are gonna hate everything they put out, just as there are people who are gonna love it, those people are in my opinion irrelevant to a discussion about a thing we all love.Nimpe wrote...

Origins, graphically, was completed long before the game was released. Dragon Age 2 was revamped, screenshots from months ago look horrible compared to the screenshots of today.

Eh mine weren't, I expected it to be on par with DA:O. Sadly it looks fricken worse.

I see them hyping the graphics in comparison to Origins. Not that the graphics are the best thing ever, where they've admit it isn't their strong point.
