Honestly people, complaining about graphics at this stage is just rubbing salt in the wound. It's clear by now DA2 isn't going to sweep the industry with its graphics. I'm certainly guilty of nitpicking the visuals.

My belated new years resolution is to stop hammering the devs.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the failure known as The Force Unleashed 2.
Incredible graphics, the music was great... and that was all. Lousy story, boring enemies and combat, not to mention the fact that the whole game was around 6hours.

Pretty graphics may be appealing, but in my oppinion they are not the most important aspect of the game.
TFU2 proved that better than anything.

Well most of the people complaing are wishing we could go back to the mid-nineties, but i guess you have a different oppinion, and if i could tell you what you should play i would say give it a chance, and then you are intitled to your oppinion. I can't help to draw paralels between this and the heat video-games have taken over the years usully by people who have never touched a game

I agree and would like to bring up Halo: Combat Evolved. It's graphics are s*** compared to today's but it's still fun to play. That is, if you like first-person shooters.

How well something sells is not a measure of quality. Plenty of technically mediocre, if not outright terrible games have sold decently for as long as this hobby has existed. Calling others' opinion misguided is misguided in itself. People are free to form opinions you may disagree with. One's tastes are subjective.

Moving on... my opinion of these screens is indifference. The first two are not too hot. It is immaterial however, since graphics are low on the totem pole of what I look for in a story driven game. Compared to my other potential issues with DA2, this registers as a blip on the radar. It is certainly nothing to make me reconsider my preorder. What does make me curious is why the recommended requirements are noticeably higher for this game when the graphics in these screenshots suggest otherwise.

That we can agree on, i mean look at Black Ops, but its very subjective, but if you want to have a continuation of the series it needs to sell well so that it has comercial appeal, games are an art-form but also a business

Oh hell yeah, TFU2! Even if it was only 6 hours long i was actually glad i finished it. It was so boring...the graphics were amazing tho! Gladly i didn't buy it, my bf did

So yeah this is a perfect example. And again, not=over-the-topc-graphics means more people can join in the dance! More people can play.

PS: i am sad i don't have DA installed anymore to show you the BIG difference low and high settings make. On a high setting i think there are even more animals lying around (like rats/crows) in the alienage.

The whole "graphics aren't everything" "you can have otherwise great game with bad graphics" and "you can have otherwise horrible game with great graphics" are quite irrelevant in thread where quality of graphics is being discussed separate from other factors.

If you can't stand the idea not everyone is enamoured with DA2 visuals by now, just move on to another thread?

Considering this isn't a thread about how bad DA2's graphics are, why should we move on? And if we had to move on from every thread that turned into whining about the graphics, we'd barely be able to look at any.

Given the camera in that screenshot is at angle which you don't get during normal gameplay (it's tilted to a side) that's most likely just a cutscene. How many enemies you get to face after it's done playing can be another matter entirely... there's the bridge fight in DAO which throws similar numbers overall at you for example, but they come in quite smaller waves rather than all at once.

If this were a topic dedicated to the "horrendous quality of DA2's graphics" then I'd agree that those of us who are okay with them should move on to something else, but it isn't, and thus we have every right to be here and disagree with those who seem inclined to turn every thread where a new screenshot is revealed into a b****fest.

I made up my mind before it was even officially announced.

Which means to me that your opinion on the topic has pretty well zero cred.  Kind of a Codex type opinion.  There are tons of people on here that have problems with all sorts of aspects of DA2, at least in most cases they can say they approached the game with an open mind.  The people that have condemned a game before even one look at it are worse than the 'fans' that they like to rail against.

I suppose we're just going to see it differently. To me, discussing whether graphics as portrayed on the screenshots in question are good or bad remains within topic. Going onto abstract "just how much graphics matter, exactly" tangent, or how the quality of graphics isn't related to quality of rest of the game ... these feel quite pointless in the given context, because --in this particular spot-- no one is complaining about these other factors, and obviously for people who take time to discuss the graphics they do matter, enough to talk about them.
