Moving on... my opinion of these screens is indifference. The first two are not too hot. It is immaterial however, since graphics are low on the totem pole of what I look for in a story driven game. Compared to my other potential issues with DA2, this registers as a blip on the radar. It is certainly nothing to make me reconsider my preorder. What does make me curious is why the recommended requirements are noticeably higher for this game when the graphics in these screenshots suggest otherwise.
I remember thinking the same when Neverwinter Nights 2 came out. In that case it was poor optimization, and just judging by these screens, I'd say this is a clear example of DA2 suffering from 'console-itis' in that department.

I suppose we're just going to see it differently. To me, discussing whether graphics as portrayed on the screenshots in question are good or bad remains within topic. Going onto abstract "just how much graphics matter, exactly" tangent, or how the quality of graphics isn't related to quality of rest of the game ... these feel quite pointless in the given context, because --in this particular spot-- no one is complaining about these other factors, and obviously for people who take time to discuss the graphics they do matter, enough to talk about them.elirian_19 wrote...
Exactly my point.
If this were a topic dedicated to the "horrendous quality of DA2's graphics" then I'd agree that those of us who are okay with them should move on to something else, but it isn't, and thus we have every right to be here and disagree with those who seem inclined to turn every thread where a new screenshot is revealed into a b****fest.
Sorry, I should have made myself a little clearer. I agree that discussing the graphics, good or bad, are part of the topic because in the end this thread is about the nothing and everything that we can find in these two screenshots. What I don't agree with is that those defending the graphics should just move on because they happen to disagree with or dislike the opinions of those who don't. And like I tried to say earlier: the only time they should have to move on is if this were a topic dedicated to voicing an opinion about how horrible the graphics are.
I hope I made my original point a little clearer.

It's okay, bro. Not everyone can afford a high end PC. I'll stick with my SLI-optimized rig even though BioWare is too lazy to take advantage of newer GPU power.

It was specifically the kind of arguments which make it appear that the poster realizes they cannot defend the graphics as they are (for whatever reason) but they cannot stand to see the game getting criticized, so they divert discussion either by trying to reduce importance of the issue ("graphics aren't all that matters") or by bringing up other, unrelated factors ("game can still otherwise be good") I.e. it's no longer discussion about the graphics and their own merits (or lack thereof) but something else that isn't really relevant.

Oh by the time this game comes out I'll be running a K-SKU Sandy Bridge system with 8GB of memory and a Geforce GTX570 - that's not the issue. The issue is that you can have all that horse power and the game can still run extremely poorly if the developer has not actually taken the time to optimize. Case in point - the atrocious GTA IV port.

It might be better for everyone in this thread if we avoided launching into yet another pathetic platform war.
Maybe if we get a series of screenshots which are clearly labeled PC vs 360, and one is clearly superior, then platform might be relevant. Right now, however, all platforms are on equal footing.

this entire discussion is futile, the only screens that should be open to judgement are the official PC ones OR console shots at the native resolution.......AND belonging to the latest build regardless of the platform. Anything else is way too subject to circumstantial factors to be representative of the final quality of the game
And i am wondering...why aren't they releasing 2 screenshots from each platform, same scene, high and los res? I understand them being secretive about info but screenshots?

Does it really matter when just about every screen shot the game looks pretty asstastic visually anyway? I mean really.

You just didn't find the right women to impress :lol:I surely impressed a lot of guys by just saying i play games. This guy at a bookshop followed me around while i was looking for the Assassin's Creed book asking me "YOU? You play AC? When is Brotherhood coming out? Aha...".

I was more scared by the Origins Ogres then by these things....they look comical not scary and definently not dark.
All I think about them is that they are all smiling at me...and Emissaries are too big, way to big...Even bigger than our good friend the architect in Awakening...

That's such a stupid excuse. Bioware games are almost guaranteed to have a good story and the effort put into graphics has no effect on that.ankuu wrote...
Guys guys! The graphic part is not the only important thing in a game. Would you buy a game with AMAZING graphics but a really bad story? I wouldn't.
With a company of Bioware's stature and resources, we should be getting both.
