The blood looks so silly xD

It's so shiny and the consistency is totally wrong. It's like everyone in thedas is filled with Ketchup.

These visuals are all over the place. Sometimes the game looks good, at other times it looks horrible. And the lighting extremely inconsistent. Why do the characters look pale white half the time?

I have zero worries, screenshots almost without exception totally suck compared to real live viewing. I'm not a graphics expert so like real art at the art Gallery I look at it and either like it or don't but I can't say why.

That 2nd image could easily be one of Varrics tall tales.

^This.
Sometimes you'll see a screen and the game looks half decent and then you see screens like these where they look worse than Origins (or at least Origins on PC).

Everything is tall to Varric! This explains it.

The pictures linked are a greatly increased version of what was on the page

SirOccam posted the actual size and they look good to me...the close up of hawke looks the battle seen looks good considering how zoomed out it is.

uhm......the issue in the second screen is that, I believe, it was supposed to be a far away shot and it was taken up close....the textures in the first screen are good (if anything the imaged was zoomed in or made larger because all official screens are like 720p size) but in the second image they are the kind of scaled textures you see in far away images when the camera is pulled back...I wonder who and how took these screens

it looks like gamestar is running it on my mom's desktop.  The inconsistency in graphics is due to the inconsistency in PCs and their graphics capabilities.

(I hate having to copy and paste links every time I want to study a picture. So, here, for the lazy.)

As a side note, The Deep Roads look better. More open, less claustrophobic. Architecture helps to make it seem less monotonous.

I hope there's different lighting as you traverse it, though.

I say thanks Saibh from the lazy .

Looks like we'll be getting awesome new helmets to make fun of.

Also, I assume the second image is from one of Varric's exaggerations. Queue metal music pouring from your speakers as your Hawke & Co easily mop up hordes of darkspawn.

Because immersion is subjective.

You don't like the helmet?
I think it looks better than the majority we saw in Origins.

so immersion doesn't matter anymore... lets just give darkspawn lightsabers because they look cool and change dragons into spaceships and make hawke sound like a p*ssy... oh wait he already sounds like one

I can be immersed in old crappy looking games, nonetheless I expect modern games to look modern unless they're working on an indie budget. (or specifically going for an "old school" look, but even then I would expect it to look polished up in some way)

That being said this appears to be a hardware/build issue, we've seen much better looking screenshots.

I say lightsabers only make games more awesome:

Because I'm  busy planning my next kill. I.e. I don't have time to notice/ care that my sword is digging thorugh the ground. Maybe Hawke just got a little too excited?

your immersion is killed simply by your sword being in the ground for a second? how do you ever expect to be immersed in a game at all?

I don't like the helmet. It does look better than many in Origins. I'm still going to make fun of the helmets.
