I find myself unexplainably approving of the Emissary redesign. Maybe they should be a tad smaller, but I like them. I like the fact that they seem to be an all-new darkspawn type (new elven 'spawn?) rather than just genlocks-hurlocks with fancy hats and a staff.
The Ogres on the other hand look damn silly. It's probably the mouth. They were awesome in DAO and they shouldn't have changed them so much.
The Hurlocks, meh, I can deal with them. I preferred them in Origins but the redesign doesn't suck so bad.

There goes all hopes about good looking helmts.. ROFL you are cruel!!

On the upside, however, there will probably be a helmet toggle; Mike told us it's tested and in the game, but not that it was officially confirmed.

I like the depth of field in this shot. Notice how the sword on the left is slightly blurred. Looks pretty cool.

My god bioware seriously what were you guys thinking when you designed the new look for the dakspawn, not only do they look graphically downgraded but they just looks stupid as well. at least in the first game they actually looked scary but in that second pic it looks like a comedy festival.
I've never been elated at the new darkspawn, but, seriously, trying to claim the darkspawn from DAO were scary? What? What? They looked like a mish-mash of every evil horde monster there ever was or will be. So generic and muddy looking.

Sorry but compared to the new look, they were scary.

Why would a preview include such low quality screenies? Ugh.
Hmmm Varic is using a miasmic flask.....what is that?

Compared to fluffy kittens they were scary. To nothing else.
The new darkspawn aren't scary either.

I'm of a similar mind. I neither hate nor love the new darkspawn; they look okay to me and only that. However, I do like how emissaries are more distinctive. Anyway, even though I'm basically indifferent to the redesign, I think it's an improvement over the original darkspawn; they looked alright but they were rather generic. They were basically goblins from TLotR movies.

Yes, exactly that. I'm not a big fan of either design, but the DAII design has merits the DAO one did not.

Got to agree, I have no idea what drove them to change them like they did, they look ridiculous now.
I do like the new look of the emissaries though, they look genuinely horrific now if you ask me, rather than hurlocks with staffs.
There is noway that is how the game is going to look when we play it, look at that pointy looking boulder to the left, that would be embarrassing for a game 10+ years old let alone a game now, I have no doubts it'll look much better when the game ships.
