Sorry I'm going to have to disagree here.
Unless each individual squadmate sports a uniquely different suit of "armor", I would prefer not to have my squad look like duplicates of my Shepard. I liked the way ME2 did it by giving each squadmate a unique character quality in their looks.

this. the me2 system, whilst not perfect, was much better than me1's and gave all the characters a more unique feel - in a character-driven game that's more important than making them all look like shepard.

I prefer the ME2 system. I don't want a clone army, I want each character to have a unique look, which fit their personality.

And yes I prefer to see Miranda wear her actual outfits, than an armor.

No one is saying that characters have to look like Shepard while wearing armor. But they should wear armor in combat. Period. Make it "unique armor" if you want, but for gods sake Miranda and Jack, you're not going into a area with no atmosphere with just a breather mask.

Was looking at the trailer for ME3 again and noticed Shepard wearing the N7 modular suit from ME2 at the end. I know that's just an announcement trailer and you really can't take too much from it given that it will be like another 11 months before it's released most likely.   But we might see a continued use of that kind of armor.
I like the modular system we had in ME2 but really would like to see this done to your squad too. The suits can look unique by character based on what pieces you selected for them to equip. I feel pretty strongly that the way this was done in ME2 was wrong in regards to what was worn on missions. They can wear whatever on the ship. It just doesn't make much sense to me to see body parts hanging out all over the place on missions.

1. Armor providing in no protection in cutscenes is a plot hole..blamce hte devs

2. Good armor is flexible and doesn't reduce mobility/agility by any margin that's worth noticing.
In short, the agility and speed you gain are miniscule, and not worth the protection tradeoff.

Oh come on if there is no weight issue then it is of no protective value. I suppose you've worn a heavy pretador suit and know from experience? Of course not. You definitely cannot run as fast with armor on or have the same range of motion. It's the same stick and carrot used to justify lighter armor for certain classes. Why then would an infiltrator just wear light armor? The class skills are not suited to a heavy suit and that makes sense. You can't claim uber protection with no drawback. You could tell in the first game the run speed was slower in heavier suits.

Ideally, I'd like to see the squad use the same modular armor as Shepard does in ME2. Obviously, krogan, turian, and salarian companions would need different parts, but it isn't as if they don't already have different armor meshes present in ME1 and ME2.

Alternatively, I'd like to see the companions wear static, but more obviously protective gear in combat, and lose extraneous accessories like high heels. I've long advocated that Jacob and Miranda's outfits are made of protective metal-dipped polymers, but the way they're designed does not make this obvious to the viewer. Samara needs to zip up her armor and lose the heels (Miranda, too), Jack needs armor to begin with, and Thane/Jacob/Miranda need to add a few ceramic plates.

Obviously, everybody needs to wear something that is clearly sealed so that visiting hazardous environments makes more sense.

The squadmates can still be pretty different, just look at all the headgear Shepard has now, most of it isn´t even used because some gear has stats better for a specific class, armor is the same thing, lots of armors unused that could bring a cool look to our squad, heck i could even bring Jacob (my less prefered character) into combat with a Terminus armor just for the bad ass, but no it sits there useless because we can´t even mod it to fit a specific class or gameplay, this is very laking imho and i can´t understand how some of you don´t care.. seriously.

The current armor system for Shepard is cool but sooo simple, if at least we could equip the squad too with any kind of armor for its race and class this way i would happy, like this its just bland to look at the team always the same outfits.

Now i know why Bioware did this of course, time and money, that way its less trouble with squad.. less models for each armor type and race..  less texturing.. overall less work.

ME3 will probably go the same route instead of improving a combined system related to squad management and inventory.. shame, better ditch the squad then and make Shepard the ultimate reaper killing weapon with all the arsenal for himself.

Personally I would really prefer to see all team members wearing clothing/armour thats appropriate to the conditions.
Leather and spandex on the Normandy by all means  .....but protective gear when on a mission...its just common sense imho.

What Badpanzer said. Besides, armor can still be unique.

Funnily enough, kevlar would be no match to a mass accelerated projectile.

Funny enough, those kinetic barriers that would stop the mass accelerated projective wouldn't do squat against a knife, a charging krogan, an animal bite, or even a thrown rock.

A little kevlar, however, might help Image IPB

This should be enlarged to banner size and spread across Bioware headquarters.

That and "Squadmates have opinions, too!"

Funnily enough, the "mass accelerated projectiles" have been dismissed. Bullets in ME2 fly slower than modern day sub-sonic ammunition for silenced weapons.

And since ME3 is going to be not a "character-driven" game, but rather an "alien-invasion-driven" game, it's important to make  Shepard's squadmates look like they can stop one.

Everyday clothing with a style that reflects the squadmates personality on board the Normandy. Could be anything from a formal uniform to the perhaps unavoidable stripperiffic outfits.

Practical armour that gives the character decent protection against most kinds of hazards but that also have a style that reflects the squadmates personality when on a dangerous mission.

Yes. Why would you ask such a thing? Wearing armor in zero Gs, on acid atmospheric worlds, and in combat is only common sense to pull a Jack everyone would be dead as well they should be for such stupidity. They can go casual on safer hub worlds like Illium, and the Citadel and of course while on ship.

They should wear armors like ME1 where you could put predator(for example) armor to them also. Some of them were special to determinate razes.

One cool add would be being able to customize also some armour color types etc, and also weapons.

I mean, in the ship, use whatever you want. kinda like a sexy costume for miranda, or totally naked for Jack, i don't know. but wtf? going into war without armor? from where do the shields come from? from where even the omnitool comes from?

Shepard is ok. he or she uses clothes on the ship, but armor on the battle field.
but what about garrus, miranda, jack, jacob, samara, tali and everyone else? (in some cases, like garrus, should he use clothes on the ship?)

Should ME3 do the trick?

Regards , m4walker.

As long as Miranda gets to keep her special "close-fitting" armor.
