If the difficulty level doesn't give you more experience then would playing on Insanity just be for fun or does it somehow give us upgrades in Mass Effect 3? (Through the "beat on Insanity" achievement / trophy)
Does Mass Effect 2 use any achievements from Mass Effect 1 to give the player anything extra?
Why play on Insanity mode?

because some people like a greater gameplay challenge?

Thats a really good question... I am playing through the second time on insanity right now... Does it make any difference at all?

Because it presets a challenge, or rather in ME's case, presents the lowest level of pushover .

Your only reward is satisfaction -- and the achievement, if that is your thing.

to see if you can do it, for fun. for the same reason people keep playing with a level capped character.
I tried insanity, not good enough reflexes to pull it off
veteran is as hard as I can get before I get completely stalled.

What is the point of ever playing on a higher difficulty?
The increased challenge.

I play on Insanity because I'm hardcore.
If you don't, you're a casual.

ME1 and ME2 is far too easy on normal and veteran. Hardcore presents a mediocre challenge and insanity is just the right difficulty for me. Hell, I all my playthroughs except the first one has been all on insanity (for ME2 at least).

Difficulty allow player to adjust gameplay difficulty so that player can enjoy most from the game, so that it's not too hard or too easy. If game is way too easy for someone, they may want to play it with insanity difficulty. How ever, I never liked it, it was too unrealistic, so I keep it usually veteran or hardcore difficulty.

there should be a difficulty harder than insanity. it just not much of a challenge for me.

I find insanity more satisfying after beating the game one normal twice and to add on it presents the right amount of challenge... but can get really irratating at times escpallially with the collecters

i had played through the game on normal many times, and had gotten every achievement except for a few. i then skipped right up to insanity, and had a blast doing so. every fight was a challenge, and it really made me appreciate every scene that much more. the dlc arc projector, kestral armor(minus that helment), geth shotty, and assault rifle were a great help, too. i'm very glad that they released all of those.

Does beating insanity mode on Mass Effect 1 get you anything extra for Mass Effect 2?
(also love arc projector)

oh, and insanity really makes you use certain squaddies during missions.
for example, you never want to use jacob or jack ever. kasumi and miranda come through in the clutch, and it really makes you like the characters more, because you actually appreciate what they bring to the table.
my insanity playthru was actually the first time i ever got with miranda.

I think Hardcore and Insanity gives some extra, but does insanity give something what hardcore doesn't, I don't know.

Actually, I'm looking forward to Insanity mode.
Normal has been way too easy.
Horizon was easy as ****.
So was the Collector base and all of the loyalty missions so far.
They need to make veteran the normal difficulty in ME3.

Insanity challenged me to be a better player. I skipped from Casual to Insanity. On a whim.
And, yes, even with Insanity mode, ME2 is an RPG.
