It's more challenging. I only play on lower difficulties to mess around with biotics.

I usually play for the story more than for the combat, and I'm not attracted to a gameplay challenge as such.
But combat on the higher difficulty levels is just more interesting. You use your powers more and learn to use them efficiently, you think about bringing the best team members to missions, which gives you more variety and lets you appreciate your team members more - and yes, that influences how you perceive them when you talk with them.
I have some games where I just breeze through on Veteran to get the story of this Shepard done. But those who stay in my mind are those I played on the highest difficulty I can without getting frustrated. In ME1, that *was* Veteran, because on Hardcore and higher the enemies were ridiculously resilient. You needed to pump them so full of bullets that you'd expect them to drop from the weight alone. In ME2, Insanity is fun to play with all classes I like except with the Adept (I don't like Vanguard), even if you score half a dozen or more deaths during the course of one game.

This is more personal taste of games. I don't like harder when it comes like work (grind) or unrealistic. Example, like player trying to kill one enemy with 100 shot, while it kills you in 2 shot. It's totally BS situation and bad way to create challenge. It's good to have challenge that game isn't too easy, but game should not be work or frustration. So I disagree, because in my opinion every person has to find they own difficulty level what is fun for them.MarchWaltz wrote...

Why do I play on Insanity? Well, easily answered on my part. First off because I can. And in consequence, secondly, why not?
The real question would be if one can't just play on higher difficulties, what motivation is there for you to invest energy and ressources (mainly just time, but for example you could buy guides and such). In this particular case, with changing enemy layout (defences, and threat level) gameplay shifts a bit from more tame difficulties, thus granting you another perspective on the gameplay and hence the game itself. Whether you find that enjoyable and/or preferable is up to oneself.

For the achievement. For the challenge.
