I say Flemeth is their best bet.

The taint is not that contagious. You either need longer exposure, exposure to an area deeply tainted or a weak immune system to be infected. Provided that you only spend a short time in the deep roads and that Hawke and company are healthy the taint should not be a problem.

Blood magic can control the taint :X

Maybe that's why it's necessary to have a mage in your group-- either Bethanny or MageHawke.

HMMMM....

Maybe one of the things that make you the Champion of Kirkwall. You are oe of the few to master the taint.

The same way they did in Origins: utterly ignoring it.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Aveline being in the Warden Commander armor.

Not to mention that we have to kill Wesley at the beginning because of the taint.
So... yea. No cure for us.

Remember the, "Secret Hidden Power." mentioned by Mike? There you go. He's got darkspawn immunity due to an unusual genealogy.

Either that or he becomes a warden (might be one of the player options)

That seems about right.

Actually I think the idea that Flemeth has a had in it, might be the best bet.

Since you have to kill Welsey because of it, maybe Aveline's special quest has something to do with the taint, mastering it, or deep road fun.

While in DeepRoads Hawke find a note left by the Warden-Commander!

Notes:

To the new Hero/Heroes of Thedas, get to Avernus ASAP.

Warden-Comander.

Great question OP!

I'm betting that with the archdemon dead, the "song" is gone, so darkspawn blood is just messy gunk now.

SPOILER from The Calling

In the second book i believe Maric had a ring that he got from the first enchanter. That protected him from the darkspawn, and almost turned him into one as well (that was the idea in the first place).

Right, that's why the DE Origin needed to become a Warden . .  .because that minor little skirmish wasn't enough to taint him.  Posted Image

Good question, and I'm curious to see whether the game handles it - or just give us a hand-wave.

Flemeth does something to make them immune to the taint?

Thats what i am thinking to, maybe in the form of an amulet or ring, or abrakadabra you are immune to the taint and chiken pox, what really vexes me though is how no one in origins really seemed to get sick from the taint, even after the deeproads... could have been a really interesting/oldscool type quest, maybe your LI gets sick and you have to save her or she dies.

He's a Hurlock Emissary, as far as we are aware.

If I am not wrong the mirror was extremely tained. Enough to even attract darkspawn. In the stolen throne  Maric and Loghain enter the deep roads and even encounter darkspawn without protection and the only one who gets tainted is Rowan (and even here it is not sure if she died from the taint). The dwarfs battle darkspawn all the time and the taint does not seem a big problem compared to be thorn apart from darkspawn so getting tainted while fighting them seem a relatively minor threat, otherwise Denerim would have needed to burned to the ground no matter if the Warden won the final fight or not.

One swallow of darkspawn blood was enough to condemn a Mabari to a slow lingering death, unless you were a human noble, in which case your Mabari could lick you clean of darkspawn blood throughout the whole game with no ill effects. Plot armor is the best armor. Barring that, as long as your party doesn't lick their lips after a fight and you always wash your hands before eating, your party should be fine.

Like non-lethal Lyrium in the Anvil of the Void and Branka using tricks that quite resemble magic despite being a dwarf?
