That's a very interesting question.
To say more would be telling.
Well I thought there is no cure? So how else can they handle it than in DA:O where your non-wardens got lucky to not get it.

It was said wayyyy back when the game was announced that DA2 wont be focused on the blight and the wardens as much.
It was one of the several things that caused the massive amount of Nerdrage, thats only just now starting to lessen. (To an extent)

Long as you don't drink darkspawn blood or get it in your wound's you should be fine.
But I like to gargul it.
It leaves your teeth with a nice tinge of soulless blackness.

Assuming this. I think one of the devs gave it away in an older post, but I may be wrong.

And eveyone else? Did Wynne have darkspawn taint resistant robes? Maybe morrigan but what about Leliana, or Sten? They can't have ALL somehow come across a mythical armor that somehow keeps the taint at bay. Somethings up or the devs just didn't take that into account.

It turns out Hawke and company are all infected, and the "monsters" you're fighting are really innocent people. The entire story is just a hallucination created by the taint...really, you're just a crazy mass-murderer.
This would be epic. BG1 connection too in "if you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss also gazes you".
Too bad it is very difficult to implement and BioWare would never do such a thing.

spoilerish: Wynne has a guardian spirit keeping her alive (she's practically a walking corpse <<)
Morrigan has flemeth tricks, Sten has a genetic condition, Lelliana & the non girl elf their turbulent love live left them with multiple diseaes that keep the taint at bay.
Anyhow, if a regular army can also fight darkspawn, it just means that you can't have too much blood on you (iirc marric was the one from the books, and he lived a long life despite the injuries he sustained (ok he was wearing full body armor but still <<).
Besides, maybe thats how they figured out how to do the 'joining' in the first place, maybe a certain ammount of dark spawn blood isnt lethal enough to kill you, but makes you mostly immune.
book spoiler: Wardens are technically tainted as well as they slowly but surely become darkspawn themselves
