however IMHO the Wades set is the better bet as it gives the following bonuses.
+70% fire resistance
+2/+4 stamina/mana regeneration in combat
+25 stamina
Set: -25% fatigue
Set: +5 defense

The wiki suggests that the Warden Commander Armor is a popular choice, but having just gotten it I don't see how thats possible, as it requires you be a rogue or warrior.
I think you must be confused as the Warden Commander Armour is only restricted by the STR, not the class of the user.

The OP has the Ultimate edition, which apparently has Warrior/Rogue restirctions in place on many items with +Stamina or +Stamina regen that the normal version does not. He's not the first person I've seen mention it.

That's odd, because I have the Ultimate Edition, and my mage wears the Warden Commander Armor set. Even though (even as an Arcane Warrior) I feel like it just looks too hefty for a mage. I prefer wearing Medium Armors for this reason.

Is there a good armor for Arcane Warriors that doesn't require DLC, killing the high dragon, or spending a lot of gold?
Juggernaut Armor you get out of Elven Ruins, in the Brocelien Forest(Werewolves area)

Apparently, the solution is the "requirement removal wand" from this mod:
http://dragonage.nex...ds/1115#content
I am going to try it out and see if it works.

since Shimmering shield can then switch off in the most inappropriate moment
I'm surprised none mentioned the best armor there is for Arcane Warrior:
Ignacio's Dagger
+15 defense
+12 armor
+5 damage
+2.5 armor penetration
+15 critical/backstab
while simultaniously nearly double the hit rate with those flaming DW weapons
the other weapon would be Spellweaver or Starfang
If someone knows a fail-safe way to make those 2 rune slots appear at will, --> Let me know please

Seems to work fine. My AW can now wear the Warden Commander's Armour. Apparently though, there's still the bug where the WCA is limited to Tier 4. Again, there's a wand in the above mod to handle that.
Since you have the ability to install mods, there's a beautiful set on the Nexus called "The Ivory Tower" that my Surana always wears. It is designed specifically for AW's.

I used to have that Wand mod too. It conflicted badly with another mod (I believe IA) and created invisible walls all over my games, making some parts impossible to pass through/play. After wiping all my corrupted saves, reinstalling the game, carefully checking each and every mod for the culprit, I now am able to play but even now, some areas (like in the slavers' hideout in the Alienage) have invisible walls in some parts, though thankfully I am able to bypass those.

but when push comes to shove, i prefer blood armor, gloves of diligence, warden commander boots,
and last but not least Ignacio's dagger + spellweaver.
On the tier, if you are lv 18 you should get dragonbone by default,
else you can sell it to michael dryden, leave the place, come back and buy it from him, now upgraded
