Though I would have prefered Alistair, the fact that we are getting any M/M romance at all makes me extremely happy.

I agree.
Well, and he is an assassin. That is somewhat badass :)
I'm just really glad they included it at all. It's a big step forward :)

Now I just have to find a way to implement an assassin in my team....

I was hoping for Shale till the end. A Dwarf gets lonely on the Deep Road, all you can do is return to the stone.

Also, I think Zevran likes both sides of the fence. I distinctly remember seeing an image, I believe the trailer that introduced him, where he's having a sexy moment with the PC.

I’m only aware of a few works in which there are gay elves and none in which there are girly (male), gay elves.

I was referring to the player perception of elves rather than any actual work of fiction. If you've  never heard a gamer refer to elves as: pansies, limp-wristed, gay, girly, etc etc.. I'd be rather surpised.

This has an unfortunate ring of truth in it. Zevran -> elf -> looks more effeminite than Alistair (build, long hair, etc) -> cliche = obvious M/M choice.

Same goes the other way around. Morrigan -> tough broad -> self assured -> brash = obvious F/F choice

Too bad, really, I was hoping they wouldn't be going for the obvious. I feel a little... disappointed/let down, somehow. But definitely not enough to put me off the game, heh. AlthoughI am stricly hetero, meaning that M/M or F/F do nothing for me in..... ah, that area, I wish those who want to pursue the M/M or F/F had the same choices as the F/M.

Quietly disturbing, but that could very well be true. Bummer.

Oh well, still rooting for Bioware and their romances. At least we're getting them, and no matter which way I slice it, it will most likely be so much better than the flub romances in NWN2 (I know that was Obsidian, I'm just saying, you know....)

Ummm, what's with all the Zevran hate? Am I one of the few who actually liked the Zevran intro? I thought he was really a badass character, an assassin sent to kill you who is not only a charmer and a handsome face, but also a though guy who can more than hold his own in a fight and who has seen enough of it to be able to say Carpe Diem. I know he's going to be in every one of my playthroughs. Never a romance though (I cannot play a female :P , and I have a very hard time not playing my own sexuality :( )

Not hate exactly.  Its more about Alistar being the popular choice. Think of Alistar as being the school jock if you will while Zevran is the more outspoken acting major.  For some reason, even though sports isn't a main stay in gay culture, we tend to like the jocks.

It's ok, I guess I can understand that...besides it's not as if we straight men are any different. We all have our own tastes :)

I don't see Alistair as a jock in any way... first off, jocks don't get sarcasm at all.

Secondly, to answer Zev's question... not offended in the slightest. Image IPB

Well, can't say I hate him ( Im not able to have strong feelings about virtual person), but I just dislike him and don't trust him. At last, he tried to kill my PC, so I see no reason to keep him alive, or if I will not kill him, let him join to my group. I just don't trust him, and I don't want to travel with someone I expect, that he will try to backstabbing my PC..it will be uncomfortable.
Zevran as a M/M option...well I think that a lot of players expected that, and it's not surprise for me. Anyway it's looks too stereotypical as an Elf Male=very femine=bi/gay. Also ( even if Im not interesting in homosexual romances) I think that would be nice to see in game at last true homosexual character instead of bi, but I think it's too early for that.

Again, Morrigan has not been confirmed - or even hinted at - for the F/F option.

The complaint seems to be that he's 'too gay.'

BioWare already did a m/m romance, and Sky was just a regular guy. I've seen nothing in the previews to make me think Zevran is an 'art major' while Alister is a 'jock.' Zevran has a Spanish accent, doesn't constantly snark, and seems more charismatic and suave. In some people's mind, this makes him a flaming queen and BioWare is utterly playing to stereotype by making him bisexual.

I understand guys who wanted Alister to be romancable. I think he’s kinda cute, though he comes off as being not so bright. But I don’t understand the Zevran hate.

I dunno where all this Zevran = feminine is coming from. I mean, sure, elves are slender and shorter than humans, but dude's got a manly face and deep, Antonio Banderas-sounding manly voice. Orlando Bloom he ain't.

I agree, I don't really find much about him femanine. He's short (but all elves are) and he's got long blonde hair, but his features don't look girly to me and he has a deep voice. He seduces and murders people. He's like an elven James Bond, haha.

I suppose some individuals perceive Zevran as being more feminine than Alistair based on the fact that Zevran is an elf, has longer hair, and like most elves in fantasy settings appears more beautiful as opposed to rugged and/or handsome?

That is merely speculation though.

From what I have seen of Zevran to date I do not interpret as being especially feminine If anything I intrepret him so far as being a sly, dangerous casanova type of the DA world.

I am still wondering if you can get into a love triangle with your party members if one is of them is of the same sex. Example being a female PC romancing both Alistair/Zevran and Morrigan or all three, or a male PC romancing Zevran and Morrigan and Leliana?

He definitely seems more sensual than Alistair, at least in the media they showed us.

I guess part of the Zevran thing is it's so much as has been said, a blatant stereotypical thing. Of course the elven son of a **** would be bisexual. Whereas with Sky in Jade Empire there was alot of depth and character and romance, with Zevran it just kinda feels forced and simplistic. Not so much a romance as a new bedmate, if that makes any sense. Alastair as a character seems more... I don't know the word. Sincere? Driven by emotions rather than his loins? *shrugs*

[Edit]: Bah, he uses a word to describe himself in the game, but the same word can't be said here.  *shakes his fist at the censor*

By now I have no problem accepting the fact that the F/F option is probabaly Morrigan, even though I think considering Leliana's background it would make more sense. Maybe because shes super religious they thought it wouldnt fit, even though the Chantry seems to not care in the slightest about homosexuality. Where as Morrigan was raised in the middle of nowhere with little interaction with anyone but her mother. We know she would do anything for power, and is probabaly equally attracted to power, so the sex of your character might not be an issue, but I dunno.  I still say it seems more likely that a girl from a sexually free country would be inclined to be bisexual over a girl who grew up without any human contact.

I don't know I would say both would probably be on pretty equal grounds to act on it if they had the attraction.  Though acting on it because you grew up in a supportive environment as opposed to acting on it because you don't give a crap about what others think (ITT Morrigan falls into this category) are obviously different.

I would think the urge is the main thing, no? That is having it or not.
