Ugh that is disappointing. I really do not like Zevran.

EDIT:  And for clarification on why I don't like Zevran?  To sterotypical ... he sounds like a boring rendition from Puss in Boots or the Princess Bride.  I dunno how to explain it as others did well.

I would have rather had both popular or even all of them romance choices that you can unlock and work on getting.

I'm not a big fan of focing one or other.  But maybe another time.

Well yes thats true. By now its proven (and I don't care if you "agree" or not, because its not a matter of opinion) that people are born gay, but there are also very strong social or outside forces that shape a persons sexuality as they grow up.

It's not a matter of nature vs. nurture, but rather whats the best way to nurture nature.

But since this is a video game and not a social commentary, I would have really preferred if they just made all of the romance options potentially bi. I know people use the whole "making everyone happy makes no one happy "argument, but I still really don't see how what I do with my companions in my game affects how someone I've never met feels about Leliana or anyone else for that matter. Oh well.

Speaking from a gay perspective of someone who was more interested in Alistair - it isn't that I think Zevran is bad.  I think he is a little more stereotypical though ( although many disagree with this including many GLBT folks).  Maybe it was the combination of his character and some of the posts about him and fruity drinks.

I think Zevran is badass as an assassin and like one poster already said - he is like an elven James Bond in many ways.  However some prefer a more masculine type.  Alistair has a cute, amusing, "best buddy boy next door" type of attitude that seems very down to earth and  masculine.  He is a warrior, has that image of being big and muscular, short hair, etc.  

It pretty much has to do with tastes though.  Some people like Type A and some like Type B.  Same for any form of attraction, gay, bi or straight.

Anyhow thought I would at least show one point of view why a gay guy might see Alistair as just another "joe" and therefore a little less stereotyped and seen as more masculine.  But it is all in the perception.  Zevran being an assassin, intelligent, debanair and atheletic can also be masculine.  Just depends what you are looking for.

(Oh I was dissapointed it wasn't Alistair but I still applaud Bioware for providing the m/m romance in the first place and think it was a great and open-minded thing to do.  Also happy to see everyone so accepting off it, for the most part)

Honestly, not to generalize all gay men, because gay men arent all flamboyant etc, but I've noticed gay guys seem to have an obsession with getting "the straight guy" in the sack. The studly jock, the guy cheating on their girlfriend to be with them. I suppose its a pretty universal fantasy for a lot of gay men. How many porn sites on the internet do you think are dedicated to super queeny men? Probabaly not even half as many as there are devoted to "straight guy" gay porn.

Like I said, I know not all gay men are like this, and besides it makes sense. Gay men are attracted to other men. Why wouldnt they want a big strong guy as opposed to the more sly effemanite one? I still don't think Zevran is girly, but I know thats the impression people get when comparing him to someone like Alistair.

It seems overall though Bioware kinda dropped the ball here. Not many people seem thrilled with their gay romance choices, haha. I suppose thats what mods are for though.

You realize that gay men take dicks  up the ass right? I hope Bioware at least gives us the option of exterminating the homosexuals that inhabit this game.

surely gay men like burly men. but i wouldn't necessarily say most gay men wanna crack the straight guy though - there's enough hunky gay guys out there.



it surely is a strong fantasy of some but i think for most people it's just too damn complicated to sleep with straight men. they tend to be really nervous too which can be quite annoying.

I know plenty of straight men who pine after the idea of anal sex with women, so I don't see how one is anymore gross than the other. Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does.

Well the men don't nessicarily have to actually be straight, they just have to look straight if that makes sense. In my experience with my gay male friends, thats always been the case. Even my gay male friends who arent blatantly obviously gay like other men who don't look sterotypically gay.

Well I think the difference pretty clear here.  Obviously anal sex with a woman is less gross to a straight man because it is with a woman.

Well I think the difference pretty clear here.  Obviously anal sex with a woman is less gross to a straight man because it is with a woman.
