You have to remember that we have never met an "average Batarian". The Hemegony is a xenophobic, totalitarian government like that of North Korea. All media and communication entering and exiting their territory is monitored and censored and all traffic is heavily restricted.

While I would say it is right to hate the governmet and those Batarians we have met so far I am going to reserve judgement on the species as a whole.

That does not mean they are not our enemies however. We must remain vigilant in the Verge. We do not want another Skyllian Blitz.

Finally an intelligent comment.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat as you there. The only "average Batarians" I'd say there are so far are the ones on Omega. A few there are the only tolerable ones I've met such as Marsh, the sick Batarian in the slums, the ones who held David hostage, sometimes Anto, and in some cases even Cathka. I'll even say that Charn in BDtS was tolerable. Other than the few exceptions, the Batarians I've met, fought, killed, or however you like to put it, are just goddamn terrorists and/ or are racist against humanity in my books.
Will I give them a chance when I meet a Batarian? Yes. Doesn't mean I won't hesitate to  kill him should he double-cross and try to kill me or wound him should he pull a gun out on me.

Hm, I like your style. Still, I like my treaty idea. I don't want them stabbing us in the back, again. If they do, there will be hell to pay. And I'm not talking about another Torfan, oh no. I'm talking about turning Kar'Shan into glass!

Gonna have to disagree with you on Charn, Clone. I killed him and I haven't thought twice. "A quick slave grab," makes the whole situation better, eh? Think again, Batarian.

I mean, yeah, sure, a "quick slave grab" isn't exactly comforting at all, but Shepard nailed the threat of death in his head if he ever saw Charn again in human space. I mean, really, he even gave you the key to the underground engineering complex. What kind of Batarian does that? At least he's not like Elnora and lies about the situation and "didn't fire my gun at anyone", only to try and shoot Shepard. But if anything, he was the most tolerable Batarian in BDtS. He came to terms.

And should Shepard catch him screwing up again, Shepard will rain down on Charn like the wrath of God.

I'll give you that he was the most tolerable in BDtS. But that isn't saying much, to be quite honest. It's all a matter of "How do I know you'll keep up with your end of the deal?" It's a big galaxy, and you've been gone for a while.

You have to take into consideration that the Batarians we've met, fought, blown to hell, etcetera, are quite stupid in the first place. Not like the slavers and their hegemony-backed terrorists are listening in on the extranet and to hear that Shepard is dead and exclaim that the time to attack is now. If they did, that would make them a little smarter than the Vorcha.

I'd hate to say this, but Batarians are pretty smart. They're just stubborn and refuse learn anything from their past mistakes. If they did, I wouldn't be hating on them like I am now.

Reguardless, my treaty might deter the Batarians from commiting terrorist acts. Solving the problem. However, in light of what I've said about them being too stubborn and not learning, the last provision of the treaty would have to come into effect. And I think we both know what that is... ;)

Batarians aren't so bad in ME3.
