soI have this Dillema.  my James Bond, I mean James Shepard is just as unlucky in love as his namesake and inspiration - his love interests change every game and they die every game...if I can manage.

I understand that I need Miranda to be loyal, if I want to romance her.  however, is there a way to kill her off in a suicide mission without losing anyone else, WHILE she's loyal?  what about killing her off and a few more squad members (if just Miranda is impossible)?  advice, suggestions, ideas, thoughts?

Miranda is probably the hardest one to kill. She's liable to live even if she's unloyal

I'm starting to see that...been trying to do some math for holding the line and I think I'm going to have to kill most of my squad just to kill her off...well I suppose it will fit with the whole "James Bond works alone because everyone around him gets gruesomely killed" thing.

The only way to get her killed when she is loyal is to have her die when holding the line. You would have to do the math and kill off a lot of other squadmembers unfortunately.

She is a pain in the ass to kill off especially if she is loyal. Prepare for a massive bloodbath near the end of the game.

Should try the Suicide Mission FAQ and see.

Keep Miranda un-loyal and bring her to fight the human Reaper. She will die.

The OP explained pretty clearly why.

Thanks TBN, I was wondering how to kill her off. It's not that I dislike her, it's just that I'm used to hearing non-Aussie accents in games, which is part of the escapism for me. Hearing Miranda's 'strine' drags me back to reality. I want to make sure I won't hear it in ME3!

The Stryne wasnt so bad, but if she had the bogan whine and threw out a few "darls" then I would have a problem with her.

I haven't looked at all the possibilities, but a loyal Miranda contributes 2 to HTL. If all squad members holding the line contribute two or more then there will be no deaths, so Miranda cannot die. A loyal Miranda will get killed after any non-loyal squad members; given that the entire team holding the line only gets killed when the HTL score is exactly zero Miranda will not die if she's the only loyal squad member holding the line, or holding the line along with {Tali, Jack, Kasumi, Mordin}.

Which leaves Miranda and at least one loyal squad member contributing 2 to the HTL score, and I doubt that it's possible to get a sufficiently low average to get everyone killed (e.g. taking loyal!Miranda, Jacob and disloyal!Jack, Mordin, Tali and Kasumi will only get Mordin and Tali killed)

Edit: You might get the desired romance flags if you do Miranda's loyalty quest and romance dialogue, and then side with Jack. Alternatively, romance Miranda and set her KIA flag to TRUE in gibbed.

Well. What happens when you send Miranda into the air vents as the tech expert? Wouldn't she die there.

You cannot select Miranda for that role.

@OP:
If you want to delete Miranda' romance flag, then reject her when she comes to tell you she's cleared the engine room.

It is not possible to kill Miranda when she's loyal and keep everyone else alive. And besides, why kill her at all. If it's the romance conflict you're worried about, you can be very sure you'll get a choice in ME3 between your ME1 LI and your ME2 LI.

thank you all, I would rather not edit out the game saves, as I don't understand completely how they work yet, so I'd rather not screw around with code. I've been doing some math and she's impossible to kill unless either I kill off everyone or she's disloyal.

I decided that I'm going to make her one of the rare surviving Bond girls, and we're just going to break up in ME3, I'll figure out a way. somehow. plus I'm killing off Jack, so that should satisfy a dead Bond girl requirement :P

Bond cannot be allowed to have any lasting happiness >_>

The best way to kill Miranda without losing any one else is

1. Do her loyalty mission and then side with Jack in the argument (or just simply not do her loyalty mission). This will cause her to be unloyal.

2. Start up the suicide mission and do not give Miranda any assignments ( Vent specialist, 2nd fireteam leader, biotic field holder, the escort ) doing so might kill another squadmate. You could bring Miranda along to be part of Shepard's team if you wish since her warp ability works great against Harbinger.

3. During the final fight against the Human Reaper larva bring Miranda along. When you kill the reaper and fall Miranda will not wake up when you lift the debris of her.

Follow these steps and Miranda dies. Now I am not Miranda's biggest fan but I do not like killing her off since I want to see every Character make it in ME3, but I have to admit killing Miranda just once makes doing another playthough well worth it.

this would work, yes, but that also means that she cannot be the Bond girl, having sexy time with James in Engineering.  and Bond is all about sexy time in between kicking butt :)  you see, I don't want to kill her becasue I dislike her, I want to kill her becasue James cares for her and James is not allowed to be happy, otherwise, he cannot have a new sexy time partner with every instalment of the story.  I already killed off Ashely on Virmire, so that sexy time didn't have a chance to happen, only buildup to it, killing off yet another romance option before they have a chance to consumate the feelings is going against the Bond tropes, so I guess she'll have to stay alive :/

I see. So you do not want Miranda to survive the mission but you want to romance her at the same time?  I dont think it is possible to romance Miranda while she is unloyal and the only two scenarios during the suicide where Miranda could die requires her to be unloyal.

For some reason Miranda is stubborn and dose not want to die. It is either because she is Shepard's XO or Bioware has big plans for her in ME3.

To confirm, it is not possible under any circumstance to kill Miranda should she be loyal. I just attempted a variety of different results for Hold the Line and cannot lower the score enough to where she dies ahead of someone else. Hell, you have quite the hurdle just killing Shepard once you have Miranda's loyalty. Your only alternative would be to mod your file during the Suicide Mission and uncheck her loyalty.

What? The Aussie accent is adorable with Miranda. I'm guessing you're Australian.

Yes. I keep expecting her to call Jack a narky scrag.
