Nah~ no mate I think the armor now have pointy shoulder pads and such.

huh? Posted Image that looks rather pointy, look at legs and shoulder?
I always thought the fairy wings on the legs looked ridicules, wish they would remove that but oh well.

I hope there's less than there was in DAO, there was so much heavy armor and not enough leather.

This is medieval fantasy. We call them "energy swords". Posted Image

(The energy swords that were made by the community for NWN were great... I loved the one the villain in The Aielund Saga used! Posted Image )

How about more leather, rather than less massive armor?

Less of anything is never good. Well, less rectal fireants or less kicks in the genitals... I guess those are good.

I actually had a hard time accepting the massive armors in Origins, they just felt too... well, massive. Like you couldn't move in them. On the other hand I loved the look of the medium and heavy armor-types (especially the heavy ones). My favourite armor in Origins was the heavy armor Bryce Cousland is wearing in a portrait in the human noble origin (used a mod to make it available in-game). Some of the massive ones looked good, in color and concept, but the bulkiness of the armors always irked me. I usually had my Warden with Alistair, Leliana and Morrigan as a party, and having my warrior Warden and Alistair both in the super-massive armors next to Leliana in light armor and Morrigan in her robes just looked silly. That's a part of why I liked the earlier parts of the game better look-wise, everyone in the party had about the same bulkiness or ‘mass’

As for Dragon Age 2... From what I have seen so far (Wesley, Aveline, Cassandra), the larger armor types look better in Dragon Age 2 than in Origins. I'm also very much liking the pointy armor Warrior Hawke uses, and the semi-armor/robe Mage Hawke has in the videos.

Can someone please post up pictures of any new plate steel shoe designs in Dragon Age 2, if there are any.  They better look like plate steel shoes.

@FurousJoe Fairy wings?! Those are side wing guards that protected the outside knee. It's what 15th century knights wore.

It's divided by warrior armor, mage armor and rougue armor.

Wrong!

Dev's have confirmed that weapons are seperated by class, but they have also said that Armor has stat requirements, and only a minority of armors have class requirements. So if you waste a ton of stat points on str, your mage can wear plate armor.

I don't want to find the quote atm, but it is in this thread

I don't get why BioWare didn't make Malcom the Grey Warden a playable character in Dragon Age: Origins? I thought BioWare made the Calling trailer, and the Sacred Ashes trailer?

I was always bothered by the asymmetrical gauntlets/pauldrons of the massive armors. Makes it look a bit clumsily cobbled together. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, of course, but it's a bit ridiculous when even the likes of King Cailan and Loghain can't be bothered to find matching shoulder pieces or gauntlets. And I suppose the tossed-together look would be more unique if every single massive armor didn't have the same case of asymmetry.

They need to improve diversity in armor graphics. DA:O had a pathetic amount of recycled graphics. Light and Mage armor all looked practically the same. A lot of the Massive Armor was just recycled stuff too with different paint jobs...

Judging by the screens/movies looks like they improved that in DA2....I hope.

Sorry, I'm a huge 15th century plate armor fanatic. I really hope to see a lot of beautiful massive armor designs in Dragon Age 2. I'll buy the game, but I won't be that impressed if I don't see any beautiful massive armors.

15th century plate armor looks nothing like the Armor in DAO if any thing it looked like the blood dragon armor

Actually, that's jousting armor, not quite sure why they had it, since there weren't any horses (although we know the DA world has them), but that's why it looks like that.

I came to like it myself, and found the mods that made the armor symetrical looked odd to me. It did make romantic moments a little less intimate seeming when both parties were wearing Massive plate. Someone's face was always obscured. Still, I put everyone in it that could wear it.

That type of armour is also in a lot of movies/TV shows. Usually the additional armour is on the shield arm.

The only example I can think of at the moment is a little bit of loose chain on the left arm for Heath Ledgers character in Roar though. And that is like leather armour, and I can't recall him using a shield. Maybe somebody else can provide a better example.

I quite like the armor being a bit smaller. For instance, the new templar armor...stellar!

You mean this -

images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101105185112/dragonage/images/6/67/Wesley.jpg

I don't know about others, but for me one of the biggest perks of being a warrior is the option to dress like a living tank. I'm not asking for WoW levels of pauldrons here, but I would like to be able to easily notice notable differences between the standard builds and armors of the classes. Basically, (default Hawke gear aside) I don't want warriors to look like "shiny" rogues.

This is a fantasy game afterall - since when does a flaming sword, a realm of demons, and the Anvil of the Void to name a few, resemble realism? I have no problem with people who prefer slimmer models, I simply ask for armor types to please all warrior fans.

But alas, unless its already in the game I doubt any major armor designs will be developed at this point in the cycle.

Well, there's fantasy and then there's fantasy I guess. It all means something different to all of us, but I think that most people like fantasy that is more grounded in reality. I think one of the reasons why the Lord of the rings movies were so liked when it comes to the visual style was because Weta Workshop managed to create armors and weapons that felt 'real'. Even the heavy armors that Gimli wore or the gondorian plate-mails felt like they could actually function properly. Compared to the massive armors in Origins, they actually looked as if they could be worn without the wearer collapsing from fatigue after 5 minutes.
