How many "supposed" AAA games didn't show more than 90 seconds......

Don't release enough footage and people think its not ready.
Put more footage out there and oh no spoilers!

That's why developers should look for a compromise in ammount of infrormation/gameplay/screens realesed. ME2 took an extreme and realesed too much. DA2 is taking another extreme and we have almost nothing.

BDF/Talimancers ahoy!
It's surprising that how many names the community comes up with.

Was the combat walkthrough not enough? Or does this thread exist in some sort of wrinkle in space-time where that hasn't come out yet?
It was a very short vid that didn't show any new features or give any information that Bioware hadn't already told us about.
What people want is vids showing off the changes made to the classes(like they did for ME2) and/or videos showcasing the companions.
Bioware is asking us to have faith that the changes they've made are all completely wonderful, but they've given us next to nothing to support that. The graphics are slightly better, but the textures are crappy and the visual retcons are sort of iffy. The gameplay is faster, but they say we can't judge it based on the demos they've had available. And the Mass Effect-influenced changes are supposed to be awesome, but they say they won't change anything.

That's a ridiculous comparison. Reviews exist for a reason. Before I buy something I read up on it and get opinions on it. Do you just buy the first thing you see when you go shopping for something you need, or do you use logic?

I... am surprised to say I agree with most of what's posted here, and I consider myself a fanboy. We've had much better pics posted, but pics aren't the problem. Gameplay so far has had only one vid, and that vid has looked eye-searingly awful. We've had excellent pics of gameplay, but no good gameplay vids per se.BrotherWarth wrote...
It's not as if OP doesn't have a point. Remember how much of ME2 we saw in the months leading up to release? Sure, some people said it was too much and they spoiled a lot of the story. But we saw extensive gameplay and character information months ahead of time. With DAII we've gotten one video of gameplay that didn't contain much information, one vid of the story that didn't contain much information, and one vid a DLC companion. It's a bit worrisome. If they're still not ready to show off the game then the game must still need serious work. Every screenshot they release has to be defended by the "fanboys" because none of them look very sharp. Every leaked video is the same story. It's always "Well, that pic must be old. They still have loads of time to polish the game." Why would they be releasing old pics? And how do they still have loads of time?
Eh. I'm sure they'll do a good job.

They've said the gameplay of DA2 isn't that different from DAO--just a faster feel to it with the new animations and "front loaded" attacks. You could see as much in the combat walkthrough. Maybe, just maybe, Bioware aren't lying and trying to mislead. Maybe there aren't that many combat changes to walk people through? *gasp*BrotherWarth wrote...

As far as companions go, that's straying into spoiler territory. I mean, they showed off many of the companions in ME2 and people said they revealed too much, now we've got pretty solid confirmation on all but a few of the companions in DA2 and people are saying it's not enough? There is a happy middle ground, and Bioware is looking for it, but that doesn't mean it guaranteed to feel like "enough" disclosure for every single member of the community. It's the nature of compromise--you get a little of what you want, but not all.

And Bioware tells us that those videos aren't indicitive of the final product and that we should ignore them.
Which I would imagine to be entirely true, that build is from E3 last year so it's many months old.

Have some *uckin faith. I mean it is BioWare we are talking about. Do you really think that they would release anything that wasn't halfway decent?
That is very true, but you must admit this lack of information coming from Bioware is a bit out of character.
Origins was delayed because they could not finish it in time, so I would not be too surprised if we get news in the next week or two that DA2 is also being delayed.
Maybe it doesn't have as much to do with having faith in Bioware or not having faith in them. Instead they are sparking off these threads by their lack of communication and proper previews.
We should have something solid by now to judge the game's true quality.

I have to agree. I've pre-ordered DA2 solely because of how good DA:O was, but ever since its announcement, I've gotten the distinct impression that something is amiss. I'd love to be proven wrong though, and have DA2 turn out to be great.Rixxencaxx wrote...
to me...lack of gameplay end screens (yes they didn't let previewers take their own screens as you can argue from the "same three screens per preview" politic) means lack of faith in their product.

I'm pretty sure this comment is a joke, but since it's notoriously hard to tell that on the internet, I have to say that even with six or so months left in a game's development time, a lot of stuff is set in stone. The people that were saying for the past few months that DA2 had plenty of time to be polished were almost assuredly wrong.SeanMurphy2 wrote...

No, Origins as a game was complete on time. The delay came because the console ports would not be ready for launch on the same day as PC, which again, was finished and ready to go.

Well, they have said many times that the marketing is not aimed to the people who follow DA2 news 24/7 and diehard BioWare fans, so that's not really reassuring to the folks who didn't play DA:O or never heard of it before.
