BioWare doesn't usually release gameplay footage. We are not in the marketing blitz yet.

So go doom-and-gloom somewhere else.

that is  an absolutely false statement

Perhaps I should have made it clear that one or two gameplay videos over the course of six years isn't too relevant to me. I haven't seen any ME2 gameplay videos.

This forum is either full of rabid bioware fans or delusional trolls

Which one are you?

If i was a delusional troll then my statement wouldn't be true. Meaning i would be neither and that question would be false

But seeing as I'm right, you can draw your own conclusions

I am confused...didnt they have an entire video about combat?

Oh gee.......a 3 minute video about combat....well I am not great at math but I am pretty sure 3 minutes is larger than a minute and a half...

Half of that video is dudes hanging out in shadows. And the rest is just sort of generic "see, it's not like a hack n slash" commentary.

Have some *uckin faith. I mean it is BioWare we are talking about. Do you really think that they would release anything that wasn't halfway decent?

Well, Awakening and Witch Hunt were ridiculously glitchy and rushed. So it's not as if they're incapable of producing inferior products.

Yet I played and enjoyed Awakening when it came out, without encountering any bugs. Witch Hunt was certainly glitchy though.

i still can't finish the game defending the keep (bug that stops the story from continuing), only by defending amaranthine.

What you can't fathom people calling EAWare out on the pretty terrible marketing DA2 is getting?

I'd pronounce it suppooooooos-edly.

As in, "So, Mr. Hawke, you suppooooooos-edly were so drunk you didn't realize it was your sister and not a tavern wench. I see."

I might even have an English accent while saying it.

My mouse was coincidentally over one of your avatar's eyes when I read this, and from my peripheral vision for a moment I thought she was wearing a monocle.

This worries me too, and while I know my reply will get me attacked by many I'll say it nonetheless, TW2 is a game that will be released in May as in two months after DA2 already has a video walkthrough of a complete mission in the game, ME2 had tons of videos in the months leading up to release, we had the classes videos with Christina Norman, we knew about all the companions save for Legion and Garrus (those didn't frequent the forums only).... either DA2 is on track and the game is as polished as it must be and they should start doing some serious marketing or it is not and there should be a delay... at this point I wouldn't mind really.

Actually, there are 2 video walkthroughs of TW2 out there, but there is a difference between the videos of the TW2 and our small selection of DA2 videos. Our DA2 videos are showing a relatively finished game, with the majority of the game's features being displayed. TW2 however has large parts of the its game mechanics missing. The Prison Break videos always show the entire inventory system as a placeholder and while Gerlat is suppose to start the game with all the Signs, we have only seen one in use. Note also that despite having a new combat system, TW2 has yet so show how this will function in true fights, since all combat has been against single enemies and not against the widely known groups of the Witcher that required style switching to beat.

There is also the difference between Bioware and CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 2 will sell well, but they don't have the big publisher and the well known studio name. They have to start earlier in their promotions to ensure awareness, meanwhile Bioware can announce whenever they please and grab press. Bioware is known to people who are not big RPG players, CD Projekt Red not so much (though that could change due to the quality of their games).

Just release a narrated walkthrough of a small portion of the game which shows off all (or most) of the game's systems and highlights the changes they keep talking about. Like they did with their Origins walkthrough videos narrated by Dan Tudge.

Didn't those come out about a week before release?

It's not as if OP doesn't have a point. Remember how much of ME2 we saw in the months leading up to release? Sure, some people said it was too much and they spoiled a lot of the story.

Yep. I hope Bio's learned their lesson about spoilers

As for the rest, why release more videos before the game goes gold? What's the advantage?

Simple, more information to judge it on and the more information you have the clearer the picture you can create.

That's October 31, 2008, not 2009. You can tell, looking at Wynne and the quartermaster and such, that it's certainly not the final build.

I have to agree, most of the AAA titles release gameplay vids months in advance of releasing their game, and they have had alot less dev time on this game than in DAO, I think they compensated for that by stripping alot of the extra features out, but still, there is no reason to even release a 5 minute vid of gameplay or something.

I think most importantly we want to see footage of the final state of the game, not some old beta footage from ages ago because a lot of the footage we have seen so far look pretty shabby as far as graphics are concerned.
But then Bioware did report on a few occasions that the graphics are going to be better than that in Origins.
Maybe we're just all getting too excited about this...

Well.. the Doomsayers tend to be more expressive or dramatic.... i allways compare the apologists to gitty school girls and the doomsayers... thats more like watching a really bad soap opera..

Really......don't remember any........is dragon age 2 gameplay so scary for sales???

The game will be out one month from now and we have 10 screens and about 90 seconds of gameplay.....

No; it's probably because it's hardly any different from Dragon Age: Origins gameplay, since it's based on the same game engine.

I will say this - I expect February to be crazy with ads!

As long as they aren't "Look at the sex and violence! Blood spatter and pantless bi-sexual pirates! Your mom will hate it!" ads, I'll be excited.

Oh, and not Manson music. Nor any switching to Gaga or Perry. Just... no not-in-game music, please.

This is absolutely what we'll get. They did it with DA:O, and by any negative account of the game, the direction for DA2 is to be even more immature than that... so it seems that all signs point to that sort of marketing.
