I just bought this edition and put the disk in to install it, and\\or install the addons with the add on disk and it asks if I want to play. I tried asking these questions in another area and got little answer.
Do I have to uninstall the original game to install this version?
Will the fan mods I have installed have to be reinstalled?
Can I simply play with the disk from this version? It has a different disk code # of course.
I'm not sure if I have asked all the pertinet questions, but hopefully I'm on the right track in the right forum area?

Thanks,
Agatana

To take your questions in order:

1) Yes... people have had all sorts of problems when they install Ultimate Edition over an existing copy of Dragon Age: Origins.  The most common are authorizing the DLC (Ultimate Edition still needs to authorize DLC when you launch the game, even though it comes with all of them on disc) and the Awakening expansion not appearing.  You need to do a complete uninstall.  There are other, recent threads in this forum which will have details.

2) Some fan mods may work, but others may not.  UE includes Patch 1.04 already installed.  This may or may not conflict with some mods.  I would encourage you to try the game unmodified to start, see if everything is working, then it's up to us to mod the game or not.  We're not going to be much help if in this forum if you start running into major issues with a mod-filled game, however.

3) If you're playing Ultimate Edition, you should use the Ultimate edition disc

4) Yup, you're in the right place to seek answers for technical questions.  Again, I encourage you to browse recent topics on this forum.  Many have been where you are now.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply RaenImrahl.
I think I'm simply going to count it as a waste of money then. I rather like the way my game plays the way it is modded. If I install the new edition and a\\some mod(s) don't work then I would have to reinstall the original version then reinstall the mods. Maybe I will purchase individual DLC's that do not require v.1.04. At my advanced age(66) I do not see the value in change simply for changes sake.
One more question, is Dragon Age 2 a stand alone or will it also overwrite the original?
As per NWN2->MotB->SoZ and having to play w\\SoZ disc?
If so I guess I'll be satisfied with playing through the Baldur's series of games and Vampire the Masquerade Redemption and Bloodlines games, Morrowind\\Oblivion, and a few other Golden Oldies as I do on ocassion anyway, including the NWN series. These, along with PnP roleplaying, works for me real well.
Again, thanks for your help.

It's also people that are simply installing ULTIMATE from scratch as well. These problems are not soley due to instlling awakening over and on top of ORigins unlike you seem to imply.

This game is the buggiest piece of code i have ever had the displease of getting my hands on and am now seekigna refund from EA.

You have not, in any of the posts you made in the last few days, including the spate of childish nonesense you're currently engaged in, provided any information that I or any of the others here could use to help specifically diagnose your problem.  No system specs or system history.  Now, if you did do so and I missed it, i am sorry.

In the simplest terms I can muster, for your benefit:

Go away.

If you are not interested in engaging in a serious discussion about your specific PC setup in the hopes of solving this problem, you are in the wrong place.  If you are intent on hijacking others posts-- made in good faith and given advice in good faith-- then you're in the wrong place.  If you want to complain as loudly as you can, so that as many users see your rantings as possible, you're stil in the wrong place-- many people who visit the general forum, for example, never make it to this one.

I understand you're frustrated.  Don't ruin our online experience because you're frustrated.  People who post here don't work for the companies that made Dragon Age.  You behavior is childish, and I suspect you're a better person than that.  If you have a complaint with EA, you've already outlined ways to deal with them.  So get on with it.  What are you waiting for?  Go away and get on with it.

I have reported you to the site's moderators, based on what I consider your abusive behavior.  How they deal with it is their business.  For my part, I will do the only thing I can.

I shall ignore you.

Regards,

RI

You see, the problem with people like you is that they do not think nor seek the truth before they open their mouths.

If you have read all the threads i have dropped comment on so far then you would see that i have given MORE than enough information for anybody to see how much i have done to make this game work.

IF you want to ignore me than so be it. No sweat off of my back. I am just dropping the same sort of comments that you people seem to drop to people that are in need of help.

Go to that list that starts with 0.0.0.1 and ends in 4.0 to solve your problem since it is obvious that all problems are our own and have nothing to do with EA/BIO. Never mind the thousands that have come here and stated all the same thing that they have tried it all and nothing still works.

I am gonna seek a refund...you people can continue to reward mediocrity...actually that is far too kind a work for thsi company called EA.

I had the original, and then bought the Ultimate. I was, and am, heavily modded. I saved my override folder in a new location, reinstalled the ultimate and moved the override folder back to where it was. YES, I did have problems re-authorizing my DLC, but it was easily solved for me with a few google searches and some trial and error. I have the Steam version of both, but on Windows 7 the install location is the exact same for mod files as for the hard copy ( we have that in our house too, on my husbands computer) so in my case, it should be no different than yours. It should work.

EDIT:  HERE is the thread that helped me:  http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=1681276

Now, it IS for Steam, but ONCE installed and you know you have a DLC authorization problem, you can go to the LIKE files in your ultimate folder.  They should be named similarly.  I had to restart my computer for it to take effect though.  But, if you follow the instructions completely, should work.  Just back up your override AND saves folder and move them back. You forget the saves you lose your people locally.

He's just too stupid and stubborn to look up a simple fix. He'd rarther sit and hurl abuse and threaten to sue EA/Bioware.

I have No DOUBT that you've tried hard to resolve this issue yourself.  I can even admire the effort you've made, I suppose.  My point is that you haven't provided us with enough of a foundation to actually trouble shoot.  What version of Windows are you running?  Stuff like that.

Added to this, there is the general anger, or angst, or whatever, and the... and I'm sorry there's no other word for it... the childish way you're ranting on.  You yourself have called it a rant.  Your first post talked about a lawsuit, for God's sake! What person in their right mind wants to engage someone like that on a soley volunteer basis?!  Which we are... soley volunteers here.

Go away.  Please.  You'll be happier.  There's no satisfaction for you here.  Really.  I mean no malice.  Leave and pursue your endevaors in whatever commercial or legal realm you see fit.  But let people here get back to helping other, cooler heads deal with their problems.  Please.  Go away....

Magnag I very much resent you're hijacking my thread to interpose your rant on it. If you wish to continue ranting about the same subject, please do so on your own thread you have going elsewhere. You sir are an ill mannered person.
