I liked Ashley but ended up romancing Liara on my main. My Shep was flirting with both of them and I was hoping to put off the decision on how to pick until later in the game, but got Liara by default. For some reason telling Liara that you like to talk to her, no matter the subject in ME1 (opens up the Asari biology codex entry) kills the romance with Ashley.

I really liked her character. I enjoyed chatting with her because it wasn't so serious all the time and it was pretty good subject matter. That was missing from ME2.

As for the romance, I thought it was pretty crappy. It felt forced all the way through and you never really knew if she cared that much about you. In ME2, Ash says she loves you, but then she hates you for working with Cerberus and you get some weak email afterward. Honestly, the whole romance is just so ****ed.

You know Liara loves you in ME1 and ME2. It was her actions that made everything possible. Also, you know Tali loves you in ME2. It's just obvious, where as I wasn't really sure with Jack or Miranda. I think Jack was far more sincere than Miranda, though.

Anyway, I did like Ashley and I would like to see her return in ME3. But truly, I don't know how Bioware is going to fix this (in my opinion) broken romance subplot.

I think it'd be more interesting to see the number of people who didn't romance anyone in ME1 before ME2 was even mentioned.

I have to disagree with you on the romance part. Overall it was really good, if not one of the best. You talk about a wide variety of things she expresses her opinion on the matter, you then agree disagree or remain neutral. You can actually influence her views which is pretty cool. You flirt with her. She flirts with you. It all has a playful nature to it and yet it becomes very serious.

Also one of the things that i really like about the romance is that Ashley isn't dependent on Shepard. Neither of them get involved because they need each other, but because they want each other.

Liara just wasn't really my type, but i do aknowledge that she cares about shepard whether it's from frendship or stockholm syndrome is really up to your shepard

Tali is adorable yes but I always get the feeling like she loves Commander Shepard instead of just Shepard. It's like she has some kind of Hero image of Shepard that he can never truly live up to.

One thing i will agree with is that Horizon was a complete disaster and one of the greatest kick in the balls i've ever recieved from a game.

But at what point does it become 'serious' and why?

I wish Garrus would have been romance-able in ME1. He was my favorite character and I would have been loyal to him. However....Kaidan was the best option for me at the time.

Fortunately he had a quick death, so now I can fool around all I want! Ha.

When you talk about the death of her squad and Kaiden. The locker scene. The scene before Ilos. As for why well sometimes she's looking for guidance, Other times she's consoling Shepard, then finally before ilos she makes her feelings known with an epic admission.

I just didn't think there was ever a reason for it to become serious. It wasn't for a good while and all of a sudden it does? What? I mean, it was almost as confusing as the scene on Horizon.

I'm surprised on how many playthroughs some people have. My main sheps(male en fem.) are both loyal to liara. My only renegade is loyal to Miranda(was Ashley) for the rest of them I mixed them up a bit. Thane, Tali, Single, also a loyal to Kaiden and Ashley just for the heck of it.

I don't quite understand what you mean by serious. If you mean fall in love. I'd probably say because they like each other. Same as any other LI you might chose. If the player pursues a relationship with Ash they develop a bond over time, and though Ash isn't immediately confessing her undying love for Shepard. It doesn't mean she feels nothing. "The Williams women are a decisive bunch they do things when they're ready, not before, not after."-Ashley Williams, ME1.

I've lost count on how many times I've played ME2 and I still don't have the Paramour achievement.

Killed off Ash since I accidentally started a relationship with her. Had eyes for Tali even before finding out she was a LI in 2. I'm a psycho like that.

I stayed loyal to Wrex.

But damn Tali is like practically stalking Shepard. Surprised she didn't offer him some Quarian cookies at Freedom's Progress. But my Shepard has got the whole Captain Kirk/James Bond thing going-on apparently, so this is forgiveable. Seriously is there any chick in the game series that isn't trying to shag  Male Shepard? Pretty sure Shepard could easily convince the Asari Councillor of some "Ah yes Reapers!"

But luckily my Shepard is a one-Krogan type guy. Though I feel real bad about breaking Harbinger's heart in ME2.

First play I Romanced Kaiden and went straight for Jacob (mostly because he was the first around lol) regretted it on both acounts Kaiden is boring and Jacob is even more boring.... but the priiiiiiiiiize

2nd time I went with Liara and was very close to cheating on her with Miranda but then LoTSB came out and my faithfulness was rewarded and I couldn't be happier.

3rd time (replay with 1st game) I went with Garrus.

4th time (currently on ME1) I'm going Liara on Femshep this time but I might cheat with Thane haven't decided yet.
