I've been looking for answers about how to avoid any kind of romantic chatter between yourself and Jack for quite awhile and nobody ever seems to have the answer, so I've gone and experimented for an hour or so to figure it out.

The solution:

Once you finish Pragia, the first conversation with Jack may proceed however you wish.

The second conversation, you'll have a dialogue wheel with answers along the lines of

                   "I'm curious."      -     -
                                          -            "I want to know my squad."
"Answer my questions."      -     "Nevermind." 

Here you may choose whatever you wish. Choosing "Nevermind." will simply delay the conversation until you talk to her again.

Next, you'll have the choice of "What if I really care?" and "You don't make this easy." Again, your selection here is irrelevant.

Finally, you'll have 4 choices. THIS IS THE CRUCIAL MOMENT.

On the left, you have the option to ask about 3 different things relating to Jack's life. On the right, you simply have "Never mind."

You may choose ONE OPTION on the left to talk to her about, and you'll be fine. You may even choose the additional response that will appear for the second and third options and still be safe.

HOWEVER, choosing to talk about at least 2 of the 3 options before selecting "Never mind." will trigger an extension to the conversation where she questions if you have feelings for her. Even responding with "No." will still trigger another relationship conversation later.

If you do not select 2 of the 3, the conversation will simply end after selecting "Never mind.", and Jack romance will be avoided.

Or you could just bang her(Renegade-style) before her LM.

This was more aimed at Paragon players to be honest, as I play 100% Paragon. But choose whatever option floats your boat.

If you want to avoid romance, just pick the middle option at all times. The top ones lead to Paragon romance, while the bottom ones will lead to Renegade one-night-stand. Though after you bang her (not romance, bang) she'll tell you to **** off afterwards (IIRC)

This is the only solution available to avoid any romantic talk with her at all. I'm sure some would rather do this than have Jack angry at you because you supposedly mislead her.

I don't normally revive a thread from the dead, but just wanted to offer my thanks for the thread and info, TruYuri, it totally saved my butt from accidentally initiating a romance with Jack.

I told Jack "no" when she asked if I was interested in her and I said "Is something wrong" instead of saying "no romance". So now, everytime I talk to her she says "I'm not interested in some love affair", which I think she is, but I just say "nevermind" everytime.

My question is, am I in some kind of complicated relationship with Jack? It's obvious that she's interested still but now I can't tell her "no romance". I want to stay faithful to Ashley and Ashley's picture is still up.

IMHO:
Jack is messed up. Any romance with her is complicated despite her statements to the contrary. While all the maleShep romances come with baggage, hers takes up a full luggage rack. If you want to 'save' her from her downward spiral, then you want the paragon romance, but she's still messed up even after that.
That's just IMHIO.
