I'm glad that I just bought my new 360 last month, because my old one
was trampled by my niece. Can't get angry with him 'coz he's so cute
dude. You should have seen him begged for my mercy. Anyway, my new
console was already fully modified ( It was an Elite so I expected it
as much ). My friend's console isn't, so he tried to modify it to some
people out there. After, that, he can play Fight Night Round 4 and other
newer games. We were so happy because we can play online now, then
suddenly, he got banned. Now my advice to him is to earn some money,
save it, then buy an Elite just like what I did.
My friend got unlucky....!!!

You are going online with a modified console? You do know you could also get banned right?

You couldn't get angry with your "niece" because "Coz he's so cute". Very unusal...
Chipping a 360 is illegal and you will get banned as it voids the UA (user agreement). Infact Microsoft just banned (depending on the source) upto a million people from Live as they had modified their 360.

As Lord Beretor said more than a million people have been banned for having modified consoles.

It isn't illegal, it's a violation of terms of use. You cannot be arrested for modding a console since you own it. You can be arrested for distributing pirated copies of games, though.
MS is well within their rights to ban modded consoles on Live, though. Their house, their rules.

Indeed.
Even though I have a, (massively neglected: I use it as a DVD player) X-Box 360, I'm a PC gamer; I've heard about modding consoles but I don't know what it entails. Would someone mind enlightening me? If it means what I think it means, then MS is being douche-tasic by banning modded consoles. And "their house, their rules" is a poor defense for a bad rule.

If a console is chipped then clearly that person has copied versions of the game... which... is illegal!
I admit i could have worded it slightly better but then... you could always not nit pick as clearly the modding of a console shows intent to have illegal copies of the game.
