It's still a reflection on Bioware regardless of whether or not it's free. It shouldn't matter if they're getting paid or not, you never lower your standards. And I'm sorry to say, but Firewalker was a diminishment in Bioware's well known standards. It reflects on them as a company how they treat each project, if it results in profit or not. Firewalker was terrible. It's the only DLc missions I've never done a second time. It was boring.

I would just like to agree with PoliteAssassin and say that I too have never played them again after the first time through them all. Except for the first one just to make my Normandy hangar full. I would also like to mention that Bring Down the Sky in ME 1 was free DLC and that was 10x better than the free material offered in ME 2. Well Zaeed wasnt a complete loss.

Bring down the sky was NOT free, otherwise I would've gotten it.  And while I agree that the Firewalker missions were boring, it is understandable, and Bioware does not deserve the insults that it "lowered its standards."  Firewalker was an experiment, and a means by which to showcase Bioware's hard work, which they had the generosity to give to us for free.  So it wasn't up to snuff, it was also not $30 like the full game, or even $6 like other DLC.  You paid nothing for it, and hence, it was a gift to all players.  I bet people aren't this bratty when they receive a gift in real life.  Good grief.

Now that that is out of the way, I would like to say that I found it refreshing to play the Firewalker missions because they changed up the way the game was played.  It was almost like a minigame, but one that counts as missions that give XP, credits, and a biotic damage upgrade.  I wonder how many people tried Firewalker once, didn't get over the learning curve of the Hammerhead, gave up and now post about how much it sucked.  You'd be surprised how much certain things grow on you if you give them a chance.  The Hammerhead is one of those acquired tastes.

It was on the PC.

Yeah, BDtS was a much better free DLC value than Project Firewalker. Project Firewalker just felt like a shooter/racer rather than an rpg. Run around gathering "intel" packs that contain a whopping +400 Ezo. Woohoo! Almost wet my pants there. Seriously though, it seemed very pointless. I would rather the open world landable planets on ME1 with a stranded merc base using the mako instead of the Firewalker. Just my personal opinions. Maybe if it was done better, I would like it. I guess there's room for improvement in ME3. Just don't try to have us waste time wandering canyons for useless items.

I really wish it was easy to make player-made missions for ME2. Because as much as I disliked the Hammerhead, I can think of a few types of missions where it could be fun.

It's not necessarily difficult, you just have to know what you're doing. If Bioware were to release their UED with ME3, it can happen. Although the chances of that are slim to none. :)

Well the story in itself wasn't bad, aside from the clunky waxpaper Hammerhead. The whole motive of Dr. O'Loy and the Prothean artifact almost made it worthwhile.

I was kinda hoping for a subplot about the reapers... But nope it was about the collecters...

We should have got to vehicle fight one and then go along side it and destroy various hardpoints Final Fantasy style :o

Could it be the Alliance's answer to a Geth Armature?

They need a few more armor layers to contend... Did I say a few? I meant a few hundred.

Not really, since it is able to take on an Armature (I think) with the usual strafing and that would fit in as an anti infantry vehicle.

Ha ha I was exaggerating. I still don't think its armor is strong enough, infantry vehicle or not.

Well yeah, I wish they at least made it bipedal like a Gekko if it was going to have no armor.

I think the HH just needs shields. It's been a while since it's happened, but I don't think the Mako lasted very long either once its shields were depleted. Though that thing had some serious shields...

I also grew really bored of the planets in ME1. Just because most of the time, driving on one felt the exact same as driving on another, except it was with a different color or had steeper hills. Though I did like the Mako's actual, independent handling... if that makes any sense >.>

And while definitely my playstyle, I drove forward and back from cover all the time in the Mako (forward for a main shot+some mg shooting, and back in for protection on retaliatory fire), or boost/jumped over enemy rockets/whatever the colossus fired. Not to mention all the maneuvering I did against the Thresher Maws.

With the Hammerhead, I just hid behind a rock/incline and spammed the guided missiles =P

I'd just like to add this video by AverageGatsby, that shows just how simple the Hammerhead missions can be by using some simple tricks.

www.youtube.com/watch

Though I would also like to add that even on Insanity, it is fairly easy to simply strafe, boost and jump around madly while constantly shooting the enemies and never get hit.  At least it is on the 360, the control scheme may make that difficult on the PC, I don't know.

Exactly! You really didn't even need to maneuver in the Mako, but you did anyway.

the hammerhead is a prototype vehicle. Of ourse there will be some kinks needing roughing out.

On veteran and hardcore the combat is soo easy. The ROF is so insane and you can quickly dodge any incoming. The Mako even with its supposedly superior firepower usually took more time to take down targets because of cooldown. If they designed less platformy elements being lots of hard to pull of jumps, then I'd defintiely like it much better. Hands down for exploration HH over Mako. Now if you can get out on foot and save inbetween potential tough spots I'd be totally sold on it. I really really hate redoing stuff because you have to one shot through a whole platforming level.
