14 is too much for my taste. While ME2 worked well with a big squad ME3 will need a good story over good characters since it's last of the trilogy. That said...

I just don't get why people want Liara or Wrex or even Aria in their squad? I mean this people would be much much more helpful in the roles they already have. Also half your squad is always sitting idle on the Normandy while you take 2 with you on some mission.

I'd much rather have friends in important roles that will help me defeat the Reapers instead of them coming with me fighting personally. Don't get me wrong, I'd want to be in contact with them (preferably very very often) and I want them to be in the final battle to help but not directly as a squadmate but rather as leader of individual factions you are in contact and decide what they should do.

The absence of ME2's Cerberus squadmates may be conspicuous, but this isn't to say I don't think Bioware will do good things with them in ME3. They simply don't make my dream list.

Because they are awesome!    I fully take on your point about many of these characters being more useful in their existing roles (particularly considering we can only take two party members with us at a time), but as this is our dream squad I reckon we're allowed to dream.
