Hi. I ve noticed that all items giving protection against coufusion or charm have the same buff icon : its called "mind shield" and it looks like a red head in blue circle. So, take staff of the magi for example: it is written that it protects against charm. But the icon of this effect is the same mind shield icon which indicates protection from confusion items as well(like liliacor or equalizer).

Does it mean that staff of the magi protects against confusion as well?

Is domination listed as a charm variety of spell so that items with charm immunity protect against domination too?

Sword of arbane protects only against hold person? What about hold monster or web? (sword of arbane has freedom immunity icon).

No, the portrait icon doesn't necessarily tell you anything. Example, chaotic commands protects against stun, charm and confusion but not fear; potions of clarity protect against charm, confusion and fear but not stun. Greenstone amulet protects against almost every mental status affect.



Domination uses the same opcode as charm, except evil cleric's turn undead and Demogorgon's unique charm ability (undead and demons being immune to regular charm).

Checked it out. I ve seen an immunity to effect(creature held) which is given by arbane sword. So i think arbane protects against any hold (ghoul, lich, hold person, hold monster).



Also: there is no such effect as "dominated", there is only "charmed" according to effects table so i reckon charm immunity gives domination immunity(dominate results in charm effect).



I will test it out sometime.
