Dr. Kenson seems to forget, that the origins of the Protheans are still a mystery. For all we know, they might have existed and traveled our Galaxy for millions of years before disappearing about 50,000 years ago.

To be fair, if you date all existing Prothean tech to 100,000-50,000 years ago, and the relay looks to be millions of years old... it makes you doubt the Protheans did it.

It amazes me how the beings of the Mass Effect verse cling so desperately to the theory that the Protheans created the Citadel and the Mass Relays and hard they fight against even the idea that someone else might have created them.

Really? You clearly haven't met very many people than.

My thoughts exactly. They're so stubborn that their arguments against her don't even make sense. If you check the planets in the galaxy, there are lots of planets inhabited by pre-prothean races.

Dont forget chorban from ME1. He figured out the cycle himself while shep was dead. Sends you tghe mail if you scanned all the keepers in ME1.

I don't think you even need to scan all of them to get the email, only to close the quest.

Considering all the evidence there is to the contrary? Yes I do. The planetary codex is full of planets that have ancient cities that have been destroyed by orbital bombardment, the Great Rift on Klendagon, Chorbans research, Liara's theories, this news story on the CDN, and not to mention Sovereign on the Citadel's doorstep just make me think people of the MEverse are being a little, well, blind.

And I work a retail job. I meet tons of people everyday. Posted Image

Could be that the Council or the governments, have a great amount of control over what get's sent out to the public.

From what I understand, the concept of Reapers is actually known to the general public, but mostly as a myth and not something to consider seriously.

The problem is that the Council themselves don't seem to pay much attention to it. Of course one issue is that if they accept Reapers as real, well, what exactly are they supposed to do? One Reaper decimated the whole Citadel fleet. If there are hundreds of them on their way, there's nothing they can really do, and officially admitting the threat would just create tons of panic.

I'd like to think that the Council is secretly trying to take measures and find solutions. Don't think we'll see that in-game though.

I say this supports my theory that the Citadel indoctrinates its occupants. There are fewer humans on the citadel than most any other species, and the average human never goes there, so we as a species are not being subconsciously steered away from the obvious conclusions like the other races, who send their brightest minds to the Citadel.

This also fits with Liara figuring out the cycle as a relatively young Asari and being shunned by her fellow scientists. Even she notes that she prefers the dig-sites to a university, and therefore she would probably not have spent a significant amount of time on the Citadel, which is very densely populated.

The fact that Chorban was able to determine the cycle from the Keeper data seems like evidence against my theory except that he is only a recent arrival on the Citadel. He and his Volus colleague only came after they stole the schematics for the scanner he was using, and likely relocated off the citadel once they had the data.

the fact that the asari ran the same experiment and got the same result is very humerous, in fact they have known that Mass relays where not created by the protheans and support the fact that since there is no evidence it doesnt exist. But there is evidence planets all over the galaxy has been bombarded from orbit, the great rift, the deep anomlies of the gas giant, the evidence is concrete but the council is just to scared

What I meant by that statement was real life people go out of their way all the time just to not believe the truth.

It's no different from what happens in real life......EVERYDAY. The anti-lifeforms that currently run this planet are willing to do and have done everything possible (including murdering people) to make sure that certain truths NEVER come to light......which is sad because the truth ALWAYS come out eventually.

I know. I was mostly talking about the Council, and people like this asari scientist in CDN, who act like there were never any other races in the Milky Way galaxy except the current ones and the Protheans.

It was a fantastic run. How many games can claim to have had a year-long supply of story related material (no matter how small the snippets were)? It couldn't have ended any better.

Can't wait for the final three weeks.

What I found most interesting about this CDN is that while most mass effect relays are of course very old, a small fraction of them is apparently only 50.000 years old. It would appear that the Reapers are expanding the relay network with each cycle.

Uh, no they don't. No more than most humans other than a handful do, anyway. And, galactic civilization is perfectly aware that other races have existed in the distant past, as you can learn by reading the various planet descriptions.  Many of them mention archaeological sites and even various species names:

http://masseffect.wi...ackground_Races

The protheans are simply accorded greater importance because far, far more is known about them, their ruins are much more prevalent, even relatively common, and of course because of the belief that they built the Citadel and the relays.

not so difficult to understand when so many of our own planet believe in mythical "beardy men in the sky" or such being responsible for, well, just about everything - and using that as a means for their own ends...

Seriously, when the reapers show up they'll have to find someone else to save the day, I'll be too busy hanging around the council chamber laughing my arse off.
