If they're going to limit it to only Dr Pepper then no thanks. Encouraging gamers to purchase soft drink isn't something I can agree with.

Why not? Most soft drinks are healthier and more nutritious than tea, coffee, juice or tap water.

lol wut, are the "most soft drinks" you're referring to all diet soda? I'm not going to say it's unhealthy, but it doesn't have any nutritional value at all, except the water in it.

Even the value of the water in the drink can be offset if it's caffeinated, since caffeine can have a diuretic effect. Which applies equally to coffee and teas.

Disclaimer: I am not judging anyone with this statement.

I like Dr. Pepper™ but I did not like buying it because I wanted the codes for Mass Effect 2.

Since you went as far as to put trademark at the end of the soft drink, I will tell you the company hasn't used a period after Dr since the 1950s.

No. Unless it was available in europe. Then yes.

Agreed.

I actually resorted to buying the Dr. Pepper codes from eBay last time so I could complete my ME2 DLC collection...

If there will be prizes, I'll just skim the internets for re-usable Dr Pepper codes again.

Yeah, right. I could buy coffee, maybe. But juice? Tap water?

How about Aquafina?

I seriously do not understand you health freaks. Live a little once in a while. Geeze. Life's too short to waste on all this "healthy food diet" jazz, in my opinion.

Not that I have anything against you being picky about what you consume, but when people tell me what I can and can not consume, then I have something against it. I get sick and tired of my sister doing it. I don't need it from other people too. I do what I want, period. My life is my own. Only person who can tell me what to do is my fiancee'.

Because drinking bottles of water makes you a health freak, amirite?

I hope so! Dr. Pepper is my favourite beverage, great taste and low calories = awesome.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread (in fact I've always just lurked here), but I'm seeing a lot of misapprehension about nutrition, so, on this subject at least, I'm inclined to step in.  Please don't take that as an attack!

I think you mean Diet Dr. Pepper is low in calories.  Regular has just as many as Coke or other soft drinks per volume.  It says so on the can.  Diet Dr Pep is awesome, though.

high fructose corn syrup will rot your teeth and make you fat.

This is a common misunderstanding, perpetuated (probably with the best of intentions) by people who see fat kids with bad teeth drinking soda and assume a causal relationship.

High fructose corn syrup, at least the kind most commonly found in sodas, is composed of about 55% fructose and about 45% glucose.  Table sugar or sucrose is composed of about half of each.  They are extremely similar in composition and nutritional value.  Excess calories make you fat.  Doesn't matter where they come from. Sugar and HFCS do not have any significant differences in how they are metabolized, including the speeds at which they are broken down into their component parts and enter the bloodstream.  Neither will raise blood glucose levels significantly faster nor trigger a much greater insulin response than the other.  I doubt we have heard the end of the debate, but no controlled, double-blinded study will ever say anything different.  If one does, look to the motivations of those behind it.
And not brushing your teeth and bad genetics rot your teeth./hijack (sorry)

[/quote]

I know you're joking, right?  Calorically dense, yes. Nutritious, no.  Now, depending on where you live, tap water can be pretty bad.  There is a lot of evidence from controlled double-blinded studies showing benefits to consuming tea, coffee, and especially juice.  However, if you add sugar and cream to tea and coffee, or buy juice with added sugar, that significantly offsets those benefits because of added calories and potential blood-sugar spikes.

Again, I'm sorry to OP for the hijack,  but I know a lot of people don't have the time or resources to sift through all the bad info out there, and it's easy to get confused or even tricked into believing b.s.

I think they should do a cross promotion with Bawls, they could call it Dragon Bawls.

I'm curious whether these cross promotions ever noticably affect sales on either end. I guess extra advertising at little cost can't hurt, right?

Where would Dragon Age 2 get the most exposure to potential buyers through cross-promotion? How about at the movies? "Let's all go to the Gamestop, and champion ourselves a Kirkwall?" Maybe not.

Meh, maybe. I mean, those are parts of their trademarked names and the soft drink business has little to do with Japanese anime. I am a little curious now. It was just a joke anyway.

If so make it Europe-wide too. I drink enough fizzy drinks as it is, need some more incentive.

More than anything, I wish these promos existed in Europeland. It's kinda boring to miss out on the code hunt ^^; I'd love to buy Dr Pepper, drink it and have a nice time with it while playing DA2, looking for new codes as I was going at it =)

I'm pretty sure the Dr Pepper codes were not unique, and it was possible while the promotion was active to get the codes from the internet, add them to your account, and get the items.

Which is what I did. But the hunt's part of the game... =\\ It's like starting DA2 and getting to the sweet ending sequence right away.

Yeah but when I looked at Dr Pepper cans here in Swedenland, I sure didn't see any mention of Mass Effect 2 on them. It was just ordinary, normal Dr Pepper, completely oblivious to any campaigns in the US.
