But it would not make any sense, she is a Fereldan with an Orlesian heritage.
Yeah, maybe I'm wrong but it still sounds an awful lot like one.

The way she says 'eye' sounds quite Australian to me (I'm from Australia).
I actually liked Miranda's accent in me2 so here's to hoping Aveline has one as well
I hear what you mean.....I don't know Miranda (I don't have ME2) but yeah Aveline's accent is a little tricky to pinpoint, it's so neutral it would be the cleanest sounding Australian ever. Still putting my money on neutral Pommy though and eyem in Australia too!

But you know, if Lady Hawke gets her own television spot, her own commercial... I'll stop ****ing. Not that it really matters to them if I stop ****ing or not, but still.
I could see it. Lady Hawke could be sitting somewhere, in her armored glory, with Varric at her side... Maybe in a tavern. And she's complaining, reality-tv style to the camera, about how Garrett gets all the attention. And she's sick of it. And then some raiders or whatever come crashing into the tavern, and she's all "Excuse me" to the camera, and proceed's to whoop their asses. Then she comes back and is like, "What was I saying? Oh, yeah. Garrett. That attention ****."

This is frustrating, not to mention, extremely annoying. I hope they don't actually think that this info drip is actually going to help market their game. There's absolutely no hype for DA2 whatsoever and we are inching to a month from release.
The hype is there somewhat.. IGN has been running articles and the popularity is the second highest game on their PC subsite atm.. Though it is surprising it's not a bit higher, I'm also surprised Shogun 2 isn't at the top of hype lists either.
And about the voice, I've always believed Bioware hasn't done the greatest job marketing the optional gender aspect of their games as I don't know how many people I've talked to either online or in RL that never knew Shepard could be a female.. So I agree, a vid hilighting that fact along with some small sound clips would most likely help the sales as more female gamers would be inclined to buy with such an option being presented blatently, though that is just my assumption...

At least we get the odd pic of Lady Hawke with DA2, poor FemShep.

I'm actually not super worried about this, it seems as if a LOT of previewers have picked up Lady Hawke and have written about her in their previews, right down to screenshots. People ARE interested, I just think Bioware doesn't THINK that they are ...

My solution? Market Lady Hawke's epic cleavage. That can be the face for DA2.

Sorry, but I have to reinforce the notion that if Bioware is sellng a brand, they need to stick to a recognizable face. All companies do it.

That's fine for Mass Effect, but I've always thought the brand icon of Dragon Age is the blood dragon. They had both genders of protagonist on the cover of Jade Empire (don't know/can't remember much about the pre-release for that sadly) and there must be other examples where it has been done. Plus as I suggested above the DA series seems a much better choice for experimenting to see if there -is- a wider demand for it.
Marketing for big games does tend to air on the side of safe and formulaic though, probably due to the vast amount of behind the scenes factors ticking away.

as long as its not the "violent" version from DAO I'm happy.. i had to abort that playthrough just for the voice and comments when i pressed command buttons lol
Haha, me too. I don't think I made it out of the origin with her voice.
But yeah, that's why I would really like to hear Ms. Hawke. I'm mostly sure she'll be great, all the voice acting in DA:O was pretty great and I have no reason to think DA2 would be otherwise but ... I like to know for sure.

See this is my big problem. They constantly come up with these numbers that say no one ever plays the female characters and thus they market the male, but they never actually market the female choice. Therefore, how many females pass over this game because they don't know there's any other choice?
I know I almost completely passed over Mass Effect cause I thought it was just big male space marine #19.
I still don't understand the argument that marketing both of them would somehow confuse people. Even if it does, I highly doubt it would outnumber the new female consumers. This isn't just a fighting game, it has romance, strategy, compelling characters. I don't see why women with any knowledge of gaming wouldn't pick this up if they knew what was going on in Bioware games.
That said, I'm not going to completely judge DA2. Even a few pictures is a heck of a lot more than I got to see of femshep.

And tbh rather than looking forward to Who is the femhawke VA we should be more excited about how many Qunari butt I'm going to kick! And What king of choices I make...I can't never pick mean choices

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. They expect more players will play as the male choice, thus they market only the male character. As a result, more players play the male character. They're just running themselves in a circle.yoshibb wrote...

I'm going to try to give the DA2 team the benefit of the doubt though. FemHawke seems to receive more accolades this time around than FemShep ever did.

Are you seriously sitting on pins and needles waiting just to hear her voice? It's that vital?
It's all because of what Mike said.
